it takes so effing long to sand i must of logged 16hours of sanding then you get to this wood and you think your done you go to stain then your like fuck thats laminate or clear cloat under a black guitar then you sand more and theres ticky glue from laminate all over that bitch then you sand some more than you hand sand then stain
I actually kinda like it. I'd add a tortoise pickguard. Yes the wood has some imperfections, but it makes the guitar seem a little more "earthy." I don't nkow how ewlse to describe it.
for a perfect finish back to the original wood a sander has to be used otherwise it will take forever by hand or other methods.i dont see the problem given its a solid body guitar if semi hollow or acoustic then i agree it could do some damage and of all the projects i have seen on you tube plus having did my own it does no harm to power sand a solid body.
aww did i hurt your feelings..it looks like you removed my comment... maybe you should think about what you say before commenting on other peoples videos.
Just a word of caution. Sometimes sanding perfectly good paint off an inexpensive guitar will reveal a nasty surprise like big chunks of odd colored wood that don't match. Consider that if they get a really nice piece of wood in a body at the factory they probably don't cover that up with paint , etc. Or we could all strip the paint and all play wood stained clear varnish finish like we had to do back in the 70's whether we wanted to or not.... not many colors offered then.
not exactly sure what yr getting at here, yhea i noticed that there were different slats not all matching , but also consider the pure joy of just having a project to do and it being fun at the same time, the guitar still plays the same and maybe even a better tone.........would not trade my squire for anything...............thank you for yr comments
Not just inexpensive guitars these days even so called "name" makes are cobbled together from off cuts, the days of real craftsman quality are long gone, the best example was a so called flamed maple topped Fender strat that turned out to be a paper thin veneer over oddments glued together. Glad to see the strother used paint stripper and not power tools like i've seen on some of these.
it would of saved time if i was just putting another color on
