  • Carter was fired because he couldn't lead. Blaming Reagan for the current state of agriculture is idiotic. The commercialization and industrialization of agriculture began with the change over to tractors, well before Reagan. USDA is the problem. Most of its research in the last 60 years has been biased towards large industrial farming. SARE is a welcome change---but its share of the budget is miniscule.
