There seems to be regular diesels that run in the tunnel once in a while. Are there ventilation systems that vent out the diesel exhaust, or does that not seem to be a problem?
The official term is "trackless trolley"- the second pole is instead of the tracks for a ground. The tunnel is actually in Harvard Square which is CAMBRIDGE MA. Fares are paid on-board, with cash fare is higher than the pre-paid card fare.
JD, in Nabinut's video shot in 2008, I see the Neo trolleybusses running on the 77. I was there several times last year(2009) and there were nothing but diesels running on the 77. I know it runs on very frequent headways, do they ever mix or is that it for the trolleybusses on the 77.
Just to ask whats the difference between the trolley buses and the dual mode buses because i heard dat the trolleybuses has a diesel back up engine, so is dat kinda considered a dual mode bus like the silverline neo??
Streetcars ran through here until 1958 on the North Cambridge-Watertown-Waverley lines. From then until the mid '60s there were trackless trolleys (N.Camb-Watertown-Waverley and Huron Ave. lines) and diesel buses (Arlington Hts-Harvard). The trackless trolleys in those days were all built by Pullman-Standard in the early '50s (first used out of Arborway?) and they, too, had doors on both sides. These were replaced in '76 by the Flyers, whose last run you have in another video.
If it wasn't an employee tell her you have a permit (technically you do). Great video of the route 70 trackless trolleys. Some people just don't understand the concept of leave other people alone
Thank you, I would have done that if I needed to but she left after I told her that I liked buses and filmed them for a hobby. She was watching me like a hawk until I left though :)
Why do some buses not have left side doors?

Unlike dual mode buses, trolley buses do not have any diesel engines, but they can run off battery power for a short time.

VERY NICE! Is that normal to see diesel buses in there that do not have left side doors?

They do run through there sometimes but they try not to use them there often because of the fumes.

Lol did she say "Why are you taking picture of the bus?" Like it never crossed her mind that some people might like buses.

haha and "what are you taking pictures of" isn't kind of apparent that I was pointing the camera at the buses! lol

Toronto has a few underground bus terminals too. But only boston uses an old 1918 trolley tunnel!
wildcattb5 2 years ago
I was wondering if that was an old trolley tunnel because you can see the old Harvard sign at 1:23
MainlineProductions1 2 years ago
Yep trolleys used to run in it, at one point both buses and trolleys were running in it together!

Do they not know this stuff, just leave people alone. Unless if you are doing something to harm others, then say something. Other than that, shutup!
Great video btw.
