  • Another way to keep pressing F9 on startup and a lil menu will come up just select load CD

  • a computer within a computer; Winception.

  • @halo3productions911 and this is how to install windows on a pc on wich no other

    system have ever been installed?

  • @3Homosapien Yes. Assuming you mean that there is no operating system on the system when you want to install Windows 7. For your situation, just boot from the DVD, choose Custom Install (not Upgrade). From there you'd format and partition your hard drive (unless this is already done).

  • UM! :D

  • Hey there, im trying to install a Wndows 7 onto my new computer.

Um, i rang the guy that i bought the new computer off and he said stuff about peripherals, boot stuff and cdrom. Im a new with all this and the salesperson wasnt helpful (Tried selling HIS Windows 7 CD and he'll fix all for $100).

I dont know whats wrong, i insert my CD. Computer then tells me somethng like 'Boot System Disk Error. Insert Cd then press enter.'

If you can help that'd be awesome.

  • I have googled it, but doesnt help. It just tells me to make CDROM as first boot device. Which i have done. BUt the error still comes up. :( CD has crack or something like that. My friend gave cd to me.

    Im so lost..

  • @KayenTV Seems that the computer keeps trying to boot from the hard drive. If possible, try removing the hard drive from the boot order entirely so that only your optical media drive is the only thing on the list. Once Windows installs, add the hard drive to the boot order again.

If the disc has a crack in it, maybe it's not reading correctly. If the crack is bad enough, it could break apart and destroy your drive. Also, make sure you have a DVD-ROM drive. CD-ROM drives will not read DVDs.

  • @SuperCuba50 Also, when you get the .iso, you'll need a program to burn it to a DVD. Active ISO Burner is an awesome free software that does exactly that and I've used it a lot. Just to clarify, you CANNOT just drag the file to the DVD. Only burning the .iso file with a special burning software will allow the DVD to start properly.

And of course, after that just insert it, reboot, then your PC should prompt you "Press any key to boot from DVD.

  • @SuperCuba50 You can get an iso via torrenting. There is absolutely nothing illegal about torrenting the installation files for Windows. Now, only if the installation files are CLEAN. No cracks or activation patches. Like I said before, it'll be an .iso file. You'll want to make sure it's in English (notated by EN_US or something like that. If your product key is on a sticker on a computer, you'll want an OEM version (very popular) of Windows 7. If it's anything else, it's probably Retail.

  • i tried installing this on my new gaming pc and it said device driver missing ??

  • @2195TDS What part are you stuck?

  • @halo3productions911 well i would put put the disc in and it would say windows files loading and then up would say starting windows and then would freeze for ages and then it would say install now i would click it and it then says media driver is missing

  • @2195TDS Seems like the disc you're using is faulty? Where did you get the disc?

  • @halo3productions911 local pc shop

  • @2195TDS Alright, it should load off the disc fine. See if you can get another Windows 7 installation disc to test if it's your disc.

  • this will delete all my programms such as vegas etc. right?

  • @ItchyyHD Yup. If you just install 7 directly over an existing installation (like XP) without formatting the hard drive, (I did mention this) it will move the old installation to Windows.old folder. You'll still have all your files but won't have access to any programs, apps, or the old Windows itself.

If you format before installing, it will wipe everything out (so no Windows.old folder).

  • @ItchyyHD Nope it wont delete anything i think.

  • @MrFried52 I love the confidence "i think" :P

Actually it will. If you do a custom install (fresh install) and if there's a version of Windows on the PC, it will move the entire "PC" to a folder "Windows.old". You still retain all the files but your programs are gone (simply don't work anymore). Obviously, say you upgraded Windows Vista Home Premium to Windows 7 Home Premium, you retain everything.

  • @halo3productions911 Thats what i was saying...
