These were such masterpiece performances that it is a shame there has never been a commercial release of any Coverdale, Page concert. This video is just frustrating listening to the poor recording quality.
@turockandar wouldn't consider it cheating. all he has is some echo. it's not like he's using autotune. and this is certainly his natural range as you can see from his songs and other live performances.
I really wish people could get over their fan solidarity bullshit and just enjoy good music when it's good. And this is good by any standards, I don't care if it were the Anti-Christ singing it.
I don't want to insult the purists, but I just watched my Led Zeppelin DVD with Black Dog in Madison Square Gardens in 1973 and I like this edition just as much. Because they're performing in Japan!
I was so pumped for this project back in 93, as where a lot of fans. IMO the album was Jimmy's finest studeo work since his days with Zeppelin, and really up till this day for that matter (ie. Walking into Clarksdale :[). When I take a look at this video to me Jimmy seems to have regained most of his "lost" mojo (which I think he had lost somewhere between his drive from home to the studeo to record the Firm's first album) . He just looks waisted, but still rocking his arse off, Fantastic.
@HughHoyland1 One of the great unsung albums of '93. it came out right in the middle of the Grunge era and it was better than any of that stuff, IMO. You're also right about Page, he sounds so rejuvenated. Great stuff!
When I 1st heard the Coverdale/Page album for the 1st time I thought to myself, maybe this is a taste of what Zepplin would of sounded like in the 90's. If noone had told you it was Coverdale singing you'd of guessed it sounds alot like a Zep album.
I'm sorry, but am I the only one here who thinks Coverdales voice is horrendous? He tries to hard to get that Robert Plant sound and ends up sounding like a dying duck mating with a dying cow.
@WEREG0NNAGR00VE i so desperately wanted to love zeppelin and they have made some amazing music, but i can t get passed plants whinny weedy croaking excuse of a voice.coverdale in his day sounded like he had a pair, instead of a flat cock .
buenisimo, pero page deberia tocarse una de deep purple igual, si mas ni menos esta con un ex DP o alomejor no puede jeje bueno esta muy bkn el video!!!!!!!!
I love DC and Whitesnake ... but this was hollow .. it was DC trying to be Plant .. he'd based the latter part of his career on being Plant, but this was a step too far. JP doing this really pi##ed off Plant, he thought it was below him.
@davemis40 Hey i dont blame David. If i had a voice like that you better believe imma try and be plant. I mean, plant tried to be like Marriot. So its just moving on down the line.

So many effects that it is really cheating in my opinion..what do you all think?

He has a hell of a lot of echo and other effects on his voice to be able to pull this one off..it is not within his natural range at all!

Why do people always want to compare who's better than who? I love both singers they're both completely different - so just enjoy!

Man Jimmy was on fire at this concert. I really wish the remaining members of Zepplin just took Coverdale on with them.

It really is a shame that these two didn't stick together. Honestly they had more energy then Robert Plant has had in decades.
