@marcyboy07 I have the second generation and it have speakers, but the speakers suck. You have to have really high volume to hear anything and that will guzzle the battery!

IMO, it's pretty much a rip off buying an iPod Touch 8gb for the same price as a 120gb iPod Classic. But if you're slightly mad, or just enjoy the brief entertainment of touch screens, then I'm sure you'll do fine with the touch.

because, you idiot, some of us like to carry ALL of our media (whether it be music or videos) on us all the time. It's much handier and sometimes you may have the urge to listen to a random song or video which you havn;t heard in ages.

Also, it's not like most people only listen to certain songs at a time and then 'change' them to a set of other songs to start listening to for a while. I'm constantly listening to ALL of my songs, because I have a playlist of my...

Great review, but I was wondering, how do you feel about not having dedicated volume button which is found on the iPhone?

The lack of dedicated volume button is a big shame, but comparison to the iPhone should not be made, I really feel this is the NEW iPod, so should be compared to previous iPods.

While it is not an iPhone, there are undeniable similarities between the two products. However, the lack of a dedicated volume butten is a letdown, but most of my tracks sound good at the same volume. I Don't need to change volume enough to where taking it out of pocket is a hastle. I do however hope to see the iPod touch come in larger memory, or with a memory card slot.

Yes, you need to be within range of a Wi-Fi hotspot to use the Safari browser.

Internet is free over Wi-Fi (at home), you may pay for Wi-Fi outside. Internet over the EDGE network is chargeable.

If you have the iPod touch flat on the table and rotate it the device does not rotate the display. It needs to be in an upright position for this to work.

well, how does the touch know the way that you are looking at it. you could be looking at it form another angle. tilting it alowes the acelerometer to know using gravity
