I notice at the 15 second mark when the wheels were being turned that there is a popping noise - I get that same noise on my 2010 Raptor - is that just normal drive train noise? I've been trying to tell the dealer that I think something is wrong with mine.
Damn Dave we've had a few views on this. If only we could get some snow, we could release a part deux. Roads are dry enough right now you could take the Boss up there, see how that Track Key does on the twisties.
it will last longer than that piece of shit plus i heard its rear end goes all the time if you do use it as a dakar truck. Do your research before you start hating ! lol
? My Landie could do that in 2wd. In fact, it has, and it was fun as hell. People don't expect to see a 40 year old Landie drifting round Tescos roundabout in RWD only, when things like Toyota land cruisers and Audi Q7s (Perceived to be 'good' as they have AWD and are high) are stuck spinning their wheels.
To everyone saying that the BFG AT KO's are not good snow tires, you are absolutely correct. They do pack up with snow and have limited grip on ice. That being said, they are a good all around tire. I do plan to replace them with the Goodyear DuraTracs.
you're a brave mother f'er man, I've been up ice house in the summer and there are some pretty windy roads and i can't imagine what they're like with 2 feet of snow. badass truck btw!
@jstewart9356 lol dunno where you heard that but it's wrong. Toyota had the 6th largest recall with 3.8 million vehicles in 2008-2010. Ford had the largest recall in 2009 with 14.1 million vehicles. Significantly more than Toyota. Send me a message if you want the link that proves the numbers. But yeah, your claims are WAY off haha
@kbj42016 because it isnt the best. not even close actually. the F-150 is just about as good except on hard packed desert terrain. and they are all-terrains.
@saw4fire I'll stick with my Firestone Winterforce studded tires for my Alaskan winters.
Even at the end of winter, when the snows all melty and there are more puddles than dry spots on the road, the winterforce tires do better because the water has a way to evacuate from the middle unlike the BFG A/Ts.
@oXJDwoodmanXo: I live at 8,300' in the Colorado foothills. In my experience the BFGs don't have enough sipes to work very well on ice, and the tread does not clean well. The self-cleaning matters for the early and late snows, and the siping matters in between. The BFG is great on dirt/sand in the summer. I would not recommend the tire in the winter. I've had very good luck with the Bridgestone AT Revo all through the winter and summer.
@saw4fire Absolutely agreed! The BFG's, and most A/T's in general just dont do well on ice, or snow deeper then 6". The tread doesnt clear itself, its not siped enough for ice. I myself own some Dick Cepek Mud Country Radials, and they work fantastic on ice, and even better in snow. While they are radial, so they get good mileage on lifespan, and dont make much noise on the road.
@saw4fire I live in Alaska, and my Wrangler has those POS BFG tires..they SUCK in winter. Even my 4 year old ½ worn down no studs winter tires work better.
Even the summer tires on my 93 E-150 work better in winter.
The only application I can think of for those BF Goodrich A/Ts is dirt off road and some light mud.
@akmarksman oh and the BFG A/Ts don't like rain on the roadways either. I've hydroplaned (and almost crapped my pants) more times than I care to count.
@akmarksman I would not be quite so harsh on the BFGs. Most All-Terrain tires are at least adequate in winter, while the BFGs are not very good in winter. For pavement, for sand, for dirt roads, the BFG is a great tire in the other three seasons. Living in Alaska, winter takes a long time, so I can see why you don't like them. Try that Bridgestone. I think you'll be pleased. It is one of the few tires out there that is good on both ice and snow. Most seem to specialize in one or the other.
I live in a mountain area and deal with heavy seasonal snow i need some that had deal with it well and hold up during a summer unlike full snow boggers....
In my opinion those bfg's are overrated the km2's is what sould be on in place of those tires, but my personal favourite is goodyear's Duratec tire. provisions for studding and geat siping for winter and wet weather and a good lug desing for offroad.
It all depends on what you want to do with the tires. The BFGs are great in sand, and pavement. They pack up in snow and mud, and slip on ice. The Bridgestone AT/Revo does well on ice and snow. For deep mud, the there are lots of tires like the General mudder that work well. So, the question is more where you drive than what is "better".
I hearing all kinds of negative things about the tires that come stock with the raptor? Whats your vote on them? If you had the choice would you buy them again or go with a full offroad tire?
