  • It was my dream, I knew it would never come true, but it was my dream to stand on the bridge wings of the Jahre Viking so I could see, and marvel at, just how huge this vessel was.

Now she is being torn apart on a beach in India.....

Good night Jahre Viking, and thank you.......

  • @elementhubba52 dont compare,this is a tanker

  • @elementhubba52 Oasis is alot smaller this is a tanker vessel made to carry lots of oil no size restrictions

  • @elementhubba52 The Oasis is 361 meters long, this monster was around 100 meters longer ...

  • This ship is immense, it got bombed and only partially sunk! Shame it had leave like this!

  • have u ever heard of the Oasis Of the Seas? And by the way the empire state building is longer if it was on its side duuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuh

  • @TheSardius Yeah, it's just under 100 metres shorter duuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuh

  • @TheSardius Oasis isn't even bigger than it's sister, Allure of the Seas. Both of which are way, way smaller than this ship.

  • @elementhubba52 Oasis is 97 meters shorter (317ft),

  • Why are they using this thing for transport? It was quite cheap to sustain it, and it could be used for military purposes....

oh god giant ass aircraft carrier

  • been onboard one of the Maersk E-boats and the are immense but are dwarfed by this gentle giant its sad that she is beer cans now but its shows that the world is mowing backwards when it comes to technical achievements (spaceshuttle, concorde, hoovercraft ferries, rover v8 also is no longer among us)

  • this ship was made into razor blades a while ago

  • @elementhubba52 Oasis is not even close..

  • Is Norway trying to compensate for something? :]

  • fill it with beer and send it to nz

  • Comment removed

  • New idea. PUT THE WORLDS BIGGEST SKATEPARK ON IT AND DELIVER IT TO MY HOUSE

  • Man could we have used this thing in one of our Superbowls......maybe a good blocking back for Foreman !!!

  • @RMSLusitania1 i don't think so...container ships are catching up pretty fast

  • That boat, it is big.

  • @hispanictoad Its not a boat its a ship

  • @Sherriff004 Oh cmon I wasnt serious and i dont see why it matters either. its kind of annoying with people policing youtube for minor errors.

  • @hispanictoad Just helping you thats all

  • What is the capacity of this ship in TEU?

  • @cadwaele It's not a container ship, it doesn't get measured in TEUs. It 's a tanker so will be measured in m3. About 650 000.

  • @1knowledgeable it was scrapped

  • Damn that's abig ship!!

  • It's Norwegian registered, but nobody but the Japanese could have built something so magnificent!

  • Sadly she is razor blades now....Cut up on the beach of I think Alang

  • test

  • ...Its Obscenely Dangerous to ship that much Poisonous Oil across any Sea or Ocean!!!

  • @OlymPigs2010 how would you suggest you move that much oil in a safer way then at sea with a ship made for transporting oil?

  • @aleaiectaest, perhaps in a better ship? I would not consider a single-hulled tanker a "safe" way to transport oil.

  • Impressive! I am wondering what the primary cargo is or if this is "For Hire". Also curious how this compares in size to the ship that walmart uses to run between China and the States.

  • @MozelleP2V, I didn't know Walmart owned or operated ships...

  • @tupsumato YT won't let me post my comment. Google the Wallyworld - china ship.

  • @MozelleP2V I think you're speaking about Emma Maersk. She's a full 202 feet shorter than Jahre. However, she's twice as fast.

Sadly, Jahre was put to rest in 2009.

  • richter75

Du er et jævla geni! Stolt av å ha deg som en ekte norsk broder!

  • @richter75 yes.

  • Ljótur er helvískur dallurinn.

  • How many people own this thing?

  • now that deserves some of this ... DAAAAAAAAAAAAMMNNNNN

  • Its not a container ship its a supertanker used to ship oil its so huge because everybody wanted that sweet sweet oil

  • how is this norwegian music it doesn't sound anything like dimmu borgir or enslaved

  • I have been in this boat before, it tooked a long long time to just walk from the front to the board house.

  • @1j1o1a1k1i1m , that is a huge lie motherfucker!!

  • @TheMarcosgoulart97 yeah, ok, go to bad kid

  • Wow... thank you for the video. Can you tell me what music it is?

  • @ukulazy Its Helene Bøksle

  • @richter75 Thanks.

  • @ukulazy Its from the Age of Conan soundtrack.

  • Thumbs up if you think that is the size of Gods penis!

  • @vmorgun thats just insulting... -.-

  • @weetnietgeen Sorry it just came to me at the moment. did not mean to insult.

  • omg its omg very omg large omg omg omg omg

  • what is name this song ? :D

  • how about japan i though its japan made caused i read it into my book

  • @MrMarine199 It is....

  • i reckon chuck noris could push that over to capsize it

  • She WAS the biggest. Now she has been already turned into scrap metal, unless they took 4 years to cut her up nothing remains of her.

Emma Maersk holds the record now. I think.

  • ABARTIG

  • huge baby

  • norwegians are so close to the sea, connected in body and soul-my family came from norway and when I loose sight of land...few things move me more-like an emptyness niether wright or wrong...just simple peace, simple freedom

  • Lies only lies! This shouldn't be categorised at ships, intead it fits very well at scandinavian islands, is there an embassy there?

  • what name this song? please:)

  • I will buy 2

  • what about oasis of the seas? is it bigger than maersk or knock?

  • @DrNeur0tic, nope.

  • @tupsumato wow. now i really have to agree knock is really almost the hugest, i say almost because its out of service already. btw, is oasis really not bigger than maersk?

  • @DrNeur0tic, Depends on what you use to compare the sizes.

    .

Knock Nevis was the longest ship ever, but Batillus-class supertankers had greater gross tonnage.

    .

Emma Maersk is the longest ship currently in use, but by gross tonnage it's smaller than the Oasis.

    .

TI class supertankers are longer and by gross tonnage larger than the Oasis (being the largest ships currently in use by GT), but still shorter than Emma Maersk.

  • @DrNeur0tic, there's also deadweight tonnage (i.e. how much cargo the ship can carry) that can be used to compare the ships. The problem is that Emma Maersk is a container ship, Knock Nevis was a crude oil tanker and Oasis of the Seas is a cruise ship. They can't really be compared apart from the main dimensions.

  • @tupsumato ok thanks.

  • @tupsumato They're the same ship. Knock Nevis is the ex-Jahre Viking. It's a floating storage ship now.

  • @malfunction12, I know they are the same ship and that she was a floating storage ship. However, she was scrapped earlier this year.

  • Imagine how many manpower U need to build and maintain this mammoth ship.

  • The vikings still rules the seas ! Hail Scandinavia !

  • @TinyArts that's a norwegian ship

  • @tronderelk yes it is

  • @TinyArts a relly big one

  • @TinyArts

    No it is NOT.

    1. It was made in Japan.

    2. Owned by a tycoon in Hong Kong until 1989.

    3. Never manned by a Norwegian captain or crew.

    4. Was operated from Hong Kong even when owned by the Norwegian tycoon and never saw a Norwegian port in her lifetime.

What part of this ship was Norwegian? The name of the guy who owned her for 10 years??

  • @McLarenMercedes She sailed 15 years under Norwegian flag. This is a tribute to that period. She spent all of her golden years in the seas flying Norwegian colors. Even today almost all of our tankers use Philippine crew and Norwegian captains.

  • @McLarenMercedes

Svensker... må dere alltid være så jævli sjalu på at Nordmenn er totalt overlegne... -.-

  • @TinyArts

First of all this ship was built and designed in Japan by Sumitomo Heavy Industries Ltd. in 1979. The Oppama shipyards in Yokosuka.

Second of all it was originally meant for a Greek shipping tycoon but when he backed out a Hong Kong shipping tycoon named C.Y.Tung.

Third of all she sailed under Liberian flag from 1979-1989, and wasn't bought by Jörgen Jahre until 1991 and renamed Jahre Viking, she was named Seawise Giant and Happy Giant before that.

Fourth of all she wasn't even >>>

  • @TinyArts

    >>>wasn't even manned by a Norwegian crew when she was sailing under the name of Jahre Viking. Her captain was from India and most of her crew was Fillipino. Need proof? Check out Jeremy Clarkson's video from the early 2000's.

Fifth of all she was later sold renamed Knock Nevis in 2004, then spent many years NOT on the seas but as a floating storage. Decomissioned in 2009, then SCRAPPED in India in early 2010. Which means she was scrap by the time of your ignorant comment.

  • @TinyArts

Could your comment be any more bunk?

Apart from the fact that it was built in Japan, sold to a Chinese tycoon, sailed for over 10 years with a Liberian flag, later bought by a Norwegian who used an Indian captain and Filippino crew, didn't sail the seas at all the last years and was scrapped by the time you made that comment, your comment was right.

    Gratulerar dumskalle.

  • @TinyArts well the captain and much of the crew is indian;)

  • @TinyArts denmark was real vikings in the history books kid

  • @simonbif1 Hmm interesting statement. "real vikings" ? pls explain I guess you have only read about vikings in England, Iceland, Vinland and France etc. or have you read about Constantinopel and Russia to? The largest numbers of runestones in the world can be found here in Sweden, were they carved by "fake vikings" ?

  • @simonbif1 Denmark was a doormat to the viking nation of Norway..

  • @richter75 not really, back to school my freind

  • @simonbif1 I teach kids like you. This is your school; The flat small land of Denmark is easily occupied and their small flat coasts is not what made the Vikings.. The Viking age started and ended with Norwegian invasions of the British isles. Look it up kid.

  • At 0:50 is that captain S.K. Mohan?

  • 458.45m(1504.10ft)

    646.642 long tons full load....

  • holy ship

  • the name of the biggest cruise liner is the royal caribean international* (spell*) Oasis of the seas =)

  • Nice song in the background. like it ;)

  • america should of bought it mounted a bunch of cannoins on it and took over caustel reagens

  • What's the name of the song please ?

I do know it's Helene Boksle singing but I can't find the title of this song.

  • @kefkef66 not sure which song, but its from Norwegian singer Helene Bøksle. Search on youtube or spotify.

  • ive herd the people who bought it beached it?!?!?. surely theyd make more money transporting than scrapping it.. :S

  • You can´t imagine how expensive is to keep machine like that running...It has nearly 100 thousand horsepower and draught of 650 000 tons :) and it ran almost 24/7

  • @lewigimole, have you checked the current economic situation? Also, I don't think anyone wants to hire a single-hulled tanker in these days, even if it was the longest ship in the world.

  • 40m longer than the Empire state building?

whats that in CN Tower's? damn metric system

  • R.I.P.

if you dont belive, google mountalang.jpg

Its @ alang to be scrapped

  • amazing. :)

  • so is this bigger then the cruise liner - ocean of the sea? one that sailed to the us when it was finished in norway?

  • Yes, almost 100m or 320feet longer.

  • @richter75- I wouldn't categorize this ship as "beautiful", no matter HOW big it is! Pretty cool though. I can't believe how much it sinks when it's loaded! Sure wouldn't want to take that thing through shoal water...the draught must be measured in STORIES, not feet! LOL.

  • @justforever96 If you make anything ugly, just make it big enough and it will be beauttiful in any human eye...

  • @richter75 LOL, true. I'm a big fan of beautiful things, and there are many kinds of beautiful. There's beautiful like a sexy girl, and beautiful like a horse, or a sunset or flower. And also there's art and sculpture, and all that. But it can also come from functionality, or pure genius of design/engineering, or just the scale of the project. The pyramids are just big piles of rocks, yet the mystery and history around them, as well as the impossibility of their very existence gives them beauty.

  • @richter75 fat people are never beautiful

  • @darklurker08 Hahahahahahha so random yet so funny...!

  • @justforever96, everyone who measures height in "stories" should be hanged from their balls. It's either in meters (like civilized, scientific people) or feet (like people stuck in the past) ;-)

  • @tupsumato - I was just joking about "stories"...I was referring to the fact that she's so huge. You see how far she sits up out of the water when she's empty, compared to her freeboard when loaded? Frickin' crazy. And I LIKE using "feet". Technically the metric system makes more sense, but I still just can't get my head around it...I always have to convert km/h to mph and kg to lbs, or I only have a vague idea of how big it is. (I always remember that 100km/h is 60mph, and that 1cc is 1 gram)

  • @Pajstrup "Ocean of the Sea"? LOL, ocean and sea are the same thing. You mean "Oasis of the Seas". An oasis is a place in a desert where water comes to the surface, and plants grow.

  • @justforever96 HAHA yeah, my mistake Oasis ofcourse. :D

  • @Pajstrup, the cruise ship you're speaking of is called "Oasis of the Seas", not Ocean. Also, it was built in Finland, not Norway.

  • I would like to see this ship in high seas.

  • I have dreams about this ship....except its filled with hot bitches sunbathing everywhere and theres a huge pool in the middle

  • Crap thats big!

  • I thought the emma maersk was the biggest.

or was that just in the container ship catagory?

  • Maersk is the biggest today cause this ship is no longer sailin the seas. Maersk is however just a third of the size..

  • Do you know why it doesen't sail anymore? Thanks =)

    -John

  • @richter75, TI class supertankers are bigger by gross tonnage, but a bit shorter than Emma Maersk.

  • @richter75 No, two thirds....

  • @amapolishplummer Nope, the deadweight tonnage is the comparison. 156,907 DWT vs 564,763 DWT .. its actually 3,6 times the tonnage. Its gonna be a while until another ship of this magnitude will be made, just because only a few ports in the world could manage it.

  • @richter75 You were talkıng about size not weıght.

  • @jkyl100000 This ship is just under half a kilometer in length. Most ships don't even come close to that.

  • lol this ship is not even build in Norway

  • From 1979 to 2004, she was owned by Loki Stream and flew the Norwegian flag. Cant build this big ships on norwegian salaries.

  • It was owned by a Norwegian company. But it was not build in Norway as I said.

hehe these names. Loki stream, Jahre viking. Norwegians are always so excited by vikings :)

  • Well its our history, natural. ;)

  • Maybe. There is even a football club in Norway called Viking. Norwegians just seems so exited about their viking heritage compared to Swedes and Danes.

  • Well not really, maybe compared to the swedish cause sweden did not exist in the viking age. Norwegian and danish vikings did do alot to the composition of todays Europe, its not strange that we remember this great period of our country. After all we are just 4,5 million ppl today, much thanks to the black plague.

  • @richter75 the black plague hehe. Anyways it's cool to be patriotic and it's important in these times where there is a muslim immigrant plague over Europe.

  • Well we lost 60% of our population, our blue line of kings and most coastal settlements was ghost towns. Thats the price u pay for being a shipping nation in those times.

We need more patriotism and constructive nationalism to build a wall against immigration all right.

  • @richter75

    Wrong.

She was originally owned by the Hong Kong shipping tycoon C.Y.Tung.

Jörgen Jahre didn't buy the ship until 1991. She first sailed with a LIBERIAN flag. She was NOT owned by Loki Stream 1979. That happened in 1991.

    Google is your FRIEND.

  • This shit is a Scottish made ship named the Knock Nevis... Its not Norwegian the name was just changed and is Norwegian

  • Its built in Japan from Norwegian design and have traveled the seas with Norwegian flag for 25 years, now its bits and pieces in India.

  • @Trianneforrunefire : 1979 c was Seawise Giant, 1989 Happy Giant, 1991 Jahre Viking, 2004 Knock Nevis....NO C IS ARRIVING AT ALANG SHIP BREAKING YARD (India) for demolition....

  • @Trianneforrunefire the scottish bout it from norwegian and named it knock nevis its was first a arabian ship called the seawise giant

  • what a beast of a ship! I bet black people aren't allowed on it! they would try to slip it into their monkey bags!

  • Absolutely stunning...but i think you have it to see live

  • It changed it's name to the Knock Nevis and is a FPSO for MaerskOil Qatar. It can hold 4.2 million barrels of oil!!! But it is not the biggest ship in the world anymore. Maersk Emma is much bigger!

  • Except that it isn't.

  • Lol. Emma Mærsk is a midget in deadweight tonnes compared to this. Emma is 156,907DWT vs the massive 564,650DWT of the Jahre Viking/Knock Nevis.

Thats almost 4 times the size..

  • nope... it's still the biggest! :D

  • Comment removed

  • No, its not. Emma is 397m vs Jahre's 458m ..

  • Oh ! i am sorry, Thanks!

  • god damn i bet this ship will make titanic look like a life raft i think the name of this ship was switch to knock nevis

  • i thout its yara viking

  • Comment removed

  • the name of this song please

  • now you can compear her with what ever you like!allthough as i know it was a tanker named jumarou(or something).she was about 1,500,000m3.the chinese never got onboard!she was moving by sattelites!she made only one voyage!after that she was moved in china as barge!she was the biggest oil tanker ever made but she never get her title because of the sattelites!

  • This ship was built with a capacity of 564,763 DWT, a length overall of 458.45 metres (1,504.1 ft) and a draft of 24.611 metres (80.74 ft).She has 46 tanks, 31,541 square metres (339,500 sq ft) of deck, and is too large to pass through the English Channel.Seawise Giant was renamed Happy Giant in 1989, Jahre Viking in 1991. From 1979 to 2004, she was owned by Loki Stream, after that she was bought by First Olsen Tankers, renamed Knock Nevis and converted into a permanently moored storage tanker.

  • waste of brain.....

  • such a beautyful ship shame what happened to it but

  • wtf

  • its so beautyful

  • Is the engine room still intact?
