@Chamath5A There are times when democracy isn't necessarily a good thing. Slavery in America was crushed despite its democratic ideals. However I do not believe majority of Sri Lankans feel Sinhalese are a superior race. That is simply not true. Sri Lanka is a nation for all. Our president made that fully clear. Are are one nation. One people. I has a Sri Lankan fully intend to live up to that. We are born equal. Our actions set us apart. :)
@Chamath5A We are the "powerful?" Haha! We are powerful as ONE! Sinhalese, Tamil, Muslims - everyone! I as a Sinhalese Buddhist in Sri Lanka don't for a moment think I am superior to someone from a minority race! Buddhism hasn't taught me to rate people or to judge them. As a Buddhist I've only learned to love, respect and accept everyone. Lord Buddha never discriminated against anyone. He helped the poor, the rich, Kings, low caste people, Indians, Sri Lankans - EVERYONE.
@Chamath5A NO it's not! Our country is a multicultural and multi-religious. What he did is an act of terrorism. Catholic Priests and Churches have the same right to flourish in Sri Lanka as do Mosques, Imams, Buddhist Monks, and Hindu temples. I always thought we are a race of people who love and cherish diversity. I am saddened to find we are not. Attacks on Churches should be condemned. Is this what the war did to us? Did we go from being accepting to discriminating?
