Junkie is a very offensive term. The "project" was homelessness and most of your questions revolve around that topic so rather than offend people you should've stuck with your original title.

@neenieweeny I told them what I was doing and that it was just my own project to take a look at their lives beyond the bit people see as they walk past them, so the agreement was verbal but it was and still is an agreement.

you do get addicts who take methadone and dont need heroin, but still use,I believe it is the root cause needs looking at,they usually blocking out a bad experience, an addict cant handle life on lifes terms. they dont think like a non-drug user.

Your questions focused too much on the drug (ab)use and I got the impression you were trying hard to show your drug knowledge in order to demonstrate your street credibility to these guys. But I liked your questions about solidarity between homeless people and the impact of the economical crisis.
I'd loved to hear more about their childhood. Why not invite them to lunch so both can warm up and then go for the more personal questions?
