Oh...i feel so sad and sorry for the turtle!!! Thanks for uploading and sharing so people can be aware of the effects of littering these plastic soda can/beer can rings when thoughtlessly left on the beach or when it finds itself in the sea or waterways.
It's not possible to stop humans from littering. The problem cannot just be solved by blaming the public. The manufacturer, COKE for example must start with the change and make their waste products biodegradable. This is not the only animal that suffers, other birds like penguins and fish too. It's up to the manufacturers and the people with power and money to make a difference.

In reality, most actually degrade to a point where they are rendered harmless to wildlife in well under 30 days. You can get all kinds of drinks in 6-packs with plastic rings. It's not just beer, but everything from children's drinks to Cokes. And yes, beers too.
unfortunately, a lot of people is not concerned about proper garbage disposal. I have seen with my two eyes higienic female whatevers thrown down the toilet, plastics, all kinds of paper... I would never do that! when I see something out of its proper garbage (paper, plastic, organic) I get mad because it's not that difficult!!!
Most people think it doesn't matter, but EVERY move counts. Please, let's start being humans and not pigs. EVERYTHING IS REUSABLE
@cintamel25 i agree with you. There is almost 100% biodegradable female sanitation products available and can even be composted. I have a drawer full of of Natracare products and a properly maintained compost bin. It's dead easy if women want to do the right thing.

Even if you do put it into a garbage can, it can blow around in the landfills, or when the garbage truck is getting the trash can maybe it falls out.
However, some ships actually take large loads of plastic bags and just dump them in the ocean; otherwise, all the landfills would be completely overflowing from plastic grocery bags. It's really sad, if you think about it.
