DOES ANYONE KNOW IF THERE IS A DVD VERSION WITH THE NEW CAST FEATURING Jason Donovan, Rhydian, AND Liz McClarnon? cause this is what I went to see in December 2010 in nottingham and the previous cast shown on this video are in the current dvd's out now
@MrGalaxyPictures .. I think you will find it is actually called The eve of the War.. I have the vinyl and cd .. it says The eve of the War on both, check it out.
I watched the live show last night in Newcastle Metro Arena and it is worth every penny.. it just sounds like the original soundtrack - nothing much changed, Justin Hayward sings exactly the same as he did.. the Orchestra and conductor have mastered it perfectly.. and the graphics are excellent.
@MrGalaxyPictures ... its a small world !.. fancy you being a fellow Geordie and seeing the same show as I just commented about - " the chances of anything coming from Mars " or even the chances of seeing the same show lol !
First time I heard this,my friend & I were at a buddy's cabin way outside of town. It's after sunset and was pitch black outside. We lit lanterns, turned them low, smoked two joints of potent hashish, and sat back and put this on loud. From the first words, "No one would have believed", right to the very end, we sat there totally mesmerized by the music and story, and so fucking wired that if someone would have moved, we'd have shit ourselves. We puffed all night and I'm not sure I'm back yet.

Thought the movie actually sucked big time. Totally let down and should have been set in Victorian England. Cruise was terrible but the film was no better.
This adaption for a stage setting is perfect and just wish it makes it over to Mexico, but i'm not holding my breath.
Yeah, about the movie - TWOTW is set in ENGLAND! Not the US, =P Also, it didn't have any of the characters in it - like the Thunderchild! I loved Thunderchild. =P
The movie was alright, but I thought it was disappointing.
I lvoed WOTW Live, it was the best live event I've ever seen - I'm going back to see it again in 2009, can't wait!
Simply Epic is an understatment.. its one, if the not the best live show thats ever been shown....
as far as speilberg is concerned, hes american, so would u expect any better ?
anyways jeff wayne is officially planning a new CGI version of the film, apparently made by the same ppl who did final fantasy a few years back and its going to be based on the book !!!!
Is that EVER coming out? I've been anticipating Jeff's CGI version forever, and when I've looked at the Jeff Wayne WotW website there seems to be many reasons why it's not finished yet. Mainly because of touring with this live production.
i think that was most wrong about spielbergs version was setting it in modern times. So done. would have been so interesting if they set it in victorian england.
I would have agreed with you until fairly recently. The problem with Spielberg's version, as far as I can make out, isn't one of setting. The problem is that it's a Tom Cruise vehicle and not much of the tone of the book has been preserved. The story itself can be set in different times and places and still be good -- take the Orson Welles / Harold Koch version from the 1930s, for example. But... yes. I'd love to see a good version in its original setting.
I saw the show on Monday down in Bournemouth UK, it was fantastic, enjoyed every minute of it, especially the end of the 1st half ("now Earth belonged to the Martians") where a massive crescendo just made your whole body shake. It was incredible (and VERY loud!!!!)
I really want that DVD! I saw this on pay-per-view, and though "The Face" was pretty freaky (wasn't even an animated face of Richard Burton, they used some other guy,) It was pretty cool. Too bad they don't have any live shows where I am in America.
But hey Moody Blues fans, is that Gordon Marshall (one of the drummers for the Moody Blues) on 1:19? I think it is! Go Gordon!
sorry saw it last weekend, in manchester arena, its okay but, the original record and cd was better, i was a little disappointed i must admit, i was expecting something brilliant and it was bordering on mediocre, oh and the hologram, wasnt
I'm going to be seeing this in Aberdeen on the 4th of December - I've been listening to it since I was too little to recall the first time I heard it. It's going to be beyond fantastic to see it live!
I live in the US and have been looking for a copy of the DVD for my dad. I haven't been able to find it for Region 1. Does anyone know where I can find it, and if not does anyone have a release date for it in the states?
I saw it last night at AUCKLANDS VECTOR ARENA. This concert totally blew me away. I had a good of the floor to the left of the stage. So i got some good pic's and a little video. This is one hell of a stage show. Designed by the guy who done PINK FLOYDS.
the hologram wasnt a hologram is what i am saying, it was on a flat screen with floaty bits of plastic from where i sat, and i still say the original record was the best vocally
well a studio produced album is going to win every time over a live performance isn't it? it wouldn't go down very well at a concert if they kept stopping and played the same bit over and over again till it sounded perfect. a live performance is the true test - warts and all
Yeah, War of the Worlds ^^ I've got the DVD already ;)
No one could have beleived, in the last years of the Nineteenth Century, that human affairs would being watched from the timeless worlds of space. xD Sorry, I must do this xD
