  • Lovely video. I totally agree with your opinions about natural hair and about being a vegetarian. We don't need to be hostile.

  • Geez, you have some beauftiful features.

  • great vid!

  • You need protein to maintain our natural style of hair.

  • so goodlooking

  • thats right.........

  • I am sure you're not the only African American who believes this, there are many men I know who say these things, but I think many of them don't speak out against mainstream trends..

But thank you, you made an effort to voice out your opinions about it and standing against mainstream and the majority.

  • Thanks for the video. I also want to say that you have a very beautiful face...damn okay, your sexy (not to be disrespectful)

  • All i could think after i watched your vid was how sad i felt that i dont really know ppl around me who think this way at all.

  • Thank You, your video is on point. I especially like what you said about "us getting to know our hair." I found this to be true in my case over the years since I went natural. But first I had to transition mentally (and am still doing so on many levels) where I truly began to LOVE and UNDERSTAND my hair and its uniqueness. I found that my hair requires very little products to maintain it (all of which are hand made & mostly organic). Therefore, I am no longer a product junkie/product slave.

  • We have to ask ourselves when we our in the beauty supplies what are we really trying to achieve with our natural hair? Our we still trying to get it to look shiny? because our hair isn't supposed to be shiny (please do the research if you don't believe me, I don't have space to explain it). Yes, our hair should have a healthy sheen to it. Our we trying to stretch the natural coil pattern (for those of you who who have tightly coiled /kinky hair) to make it appear to be Jheri Curl Curly?

  • Blacks need a new goal, a new aspiration to look to. Blacks need their minds reprogrammed. Natural hair is ALWAYS better. People with natural hair act differently.

  • great vid cutie

  • Okay I'm going to replay this video and listen this time instead of just watching your lips.

  • educated video...very well said..

  • you are cute

  • phaha!! to the side comment on the video :) This is a good message, keep sharing and thanks!

  • This is entirely unrelated, and completely off-subject and you don't even have to responde but...

    you are just so gorgeous.

...and true, true on the commentary

  • *Round of applause* thank u :-)

  • I am so inlove with my natural hair!! great vid.

  • Q: When u said that u're a vegetarian u reeled a list of names of foods that don't have meat! R u a vegetarian or have you given up junk food? I was just wondering because I was a bit confused by that comment

  • Great video! This is a positive thing. You said it right! =)

  • This was nicely said....thank you for taking the time to express yourself. You did a really nice job explaining what many has been trying to say all along. (Sorry for commenting so late...I just ran across this video.)

  • Great Video. Sexy Voice. Good Lookin'.

  • Bless you! you are a fine brother

  • Love your hair.

  • Good video! Beautiful person inside and out!

  • I love the comparison of sticking feathers on a rose. Yes that is crazy! Thank you for posting this video. You are gorgeous and your voice...

  • you made some good points in your video!

  • ive had a black male tell me and several others that he would never even if the person was beautiful date a black girl wih her natural kinky afrocentric hair which to me is a damnn shammee but the reality of how alot of not only black males but women as well feel.

  • u have a nice speaking voice. u should try out radio i could listen to u all day. :D

  • 2 thumbs up for the video... Very well said and to the point.

  • Great vid!

  • Great video I'm newly natural and I was shocked by some of the comments I receive negatively so far all black folk. Another issue with the black community is the whole light skinned dark skinned thing. I'm light skinned and grew up feeling I had to prove my blackness!

  • First you're a beautiful man, second....thank you. Third, I went natural and my hair has never grown faster. People tell me "girrrrl, you need a perm." I tell them that they need some love.

  • onediva69: ppl tell you need a perm?? wow. tell them they need to read a book! and he is a beautiful man.

  • Sistahs rarely hear the love for our natural hair, &we they do they put that willie lynch chip in it good hair/bad hair the mental slavery of self hatred of our own temples. Thanks for posting.I chose to see life though why would I, not why not, to each it's own, but I really get degrading & backhand so called compliments about my natural hair, but I've gotten used to it. Many blk men get on utube&claim blk wom should go natural, but in real life, they gravitate to weaves/perms,I believe U,hotep

  • Well said, we appreciate you!

  • lol u r so sexy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • lol i hear what your saying...

  • Anyway little girl's need daddy's too and I had one (passed away 6 yrs ago) and he was light skinned with green eyes and I have never heard no black nonsense coming out of his mouth and he would crush all those who tried to ask him or say that he was mixed with anything. He used to tell them that he had a blue-black uncle with blue eyes and that's where he got it! I love that about my dad he just wasn't the type of man to ever deny his own peeps and I guess that's why I'm so deeply rooted.Peace.

  • An educated African American male, that appreciates the black women in her natural state is love. I wish more male thought the way you do. Keep making your videos... We (as a community) need reform.

    Peace

  • nice video = ]

  • great response.

  • u r so right

  • Thankyou!

Your speech was so well delivered no obscene language, no venom, or contradictive remarks.

A near perfect expression of how you feel, put forth in a well considered and un biased stance.

Now if more people were to discuss and converse in this manner it would mean more frequent and productive dialogue between people of differing views.

Let's all continue in our enlightment

    HOTEP

  • Thank you, Thank You

  • Comment removed

  • It has become a prioroity for me and necessacity like you said and i already have a job! im quitting this hair commitment and committing to myself, thanks for your thoughts king..

  • Sorry for the late reply, glad you made that choice

  • well said and yes i'm going natural i have thought about doing this for about a month now and i had to do some research so yeah i gotta do it.. ps love the lips

  • Nicely said indeed

  • Thank you. Nicely said. :)

  • you are beautiful

  • First off I can't help but to tell you that you are very very handsome...secondly thank you for this video....you guys are very encouraging

  • Wow! You handsome :o) love those lips!

  • I'm in love,so eloquent bless you. A lot of women aren't aware black men find natural hair sexy,it's not the stereotypical vixen hot mama look the chemicaly or naturaly straight women tend to get. You really make a difference to me.

  • why do people wear dentures? lol. very well put bro. its crazy to me. when i bring up the subject to people sometimes i get the wackest excuse that black women are "versatile."that shit is ruining sistas hair. alot of them have tapered perms. sistas used to press their hair but now they're just ruining it by perming it. blaqueindigo made another point that i never though about. you have to use gloves to apply a perm. if i had a perm i know they'd look at me crazy. likewise. lol. good vid. peace!

  • i like the way u think

  • You have a beautiful mind. Keep speaking the truth!

  • Thanks for posting this.

It took a good bit of reading and research for me to really understand what I needed to do in order to take proper care of my hair.

    Much love.

  • Good vid! I like your perspective!

  • Wooow!!! Excellent video. And you look cute too!

  • thank you

  • I love the analogies you've used.

  • u r a cutie.:)

  • thank you

  • Dread locks aren't natural. Afro's are.

  • Thanks for your input however Im talking having your hair in a natural state...having Locs does not require you to chemically alter your hair

  • Am I wrong? Locks require physical and most often times, permanent alteration to your hair. I do agree that having locs is way better than getting a perm though...

  • Help me understand...I can understand the physical part of it but what permanent alterations are done with your locks??...I guess one could say that having "manicured" locs are not natural but freefrom locs are very natural and requires no product or twisting.

  • well not really you could free form and that doesnt take anything but letting it grow out and you have locks

  • thank you brotha............ I am so glad to see a black man supporting the natural movement. I hope to meet more men like you after my big chop! I think people who believe in going natural can be pushy sometimes. I try not to and I mostly just share simple logic with them. This doesn't occur anywhere else in nature, so there has to be a man-made reason why we do it. That reason is simply because we are not taught how to love and care for our natural hair. So we must not be too lazy to learn

  • I agree with you 1000% , It must feel good to connect with a part of you that you never knew

  • You are cute and you have a nice voice.

  • i liked ur video...i'm transitioning right now and plan to cut off all my permed hair during the summer...i think the whole process of growing out my hair and using natural/organic products has been really fun...i used to use a flat iron all the time in the past, but havent even felt the desire to use one in months now that i found i love playing with my curly roots...its amazing how much u develop by going natural...and by the way u have amazing lips.

  • Congrats and good luck on the transition. Yeah I could imagine its fun getting to know your own hair texture & thanks for the compliment as well.

  • Congratulations on your choice to go natural. I have been natural for a 3 years now and I love it! I use natural/organic products too and my hair has thanked me for it my growing long, strong and healthy. I flat iron 2x a year to see my length straight and trim. Too much heat is damaging. I keep it on a low setting.

  • I'm glad you enjoyed the video!! It does take time to understand something you were taught to hate...I'm glad you became free.

  • Great, great video! I love your approach. You were calm, collected and didn't put anyone down. You just spoke the facts. Thank you!

  • Your welcome, I hope that people start to understand

  • great vid.!!!

    i feel you brotha

    peace.

  • You stated your thoughts in this vid so well. I completely agree with all you said. Great video!

  • very good..and your very fine

  • Good video...and you're cute ^_^

  • I've been natural 6 mos n love how my self esteem boost bcuz of it. It's always nice hearing this from our black men I loved how while sharing ur opinion u didnt bash women for relaxing Many of us need to re educated ourselves concerning natural hair At least we know u would raise ur children to love their hair. Many may not say it but by getting relaxers at a young age tells kids that there is something wrong and this is how we "FIX"it. NAtural hair doesnt need 2 b fixed but understood. G8t vid

  • your absolutely right, theres nothing to be fixed, thanks for the feedback

  • this was such a good video and I LOVE hearing the male perspective, even though I was slightly distracted b/c you are so freakin sexy...I just kept lookin at your lips and wondering how they would...OK...my bad...but good point though!

keep posting good vids young King

  • LMAO!, thank you very much

  • gurl I must admit I was thinking the same thing(hee hee..oh I'm sorry renceferd I know this is a serious format but dayum u r 2 cute. If I've upset ya..come talk to Mama bout it hunny

  • lmao, thank you....I'm not upset at all lol

  • ah ah ,same ting me say, natural iz da boss of our owner class, skeene, peace and love.

  • good explainations

  • 50 stars!

  • FAVORITED

it is rare to see a males

    perspective on the issues of

    natural/relaxed hair. the

    examples and explanation was

    on point indeed.

    -PeAcE

  • Agreed!!!!!

  • i agree!!!

  • lol thank you guys

  • I know this has nothing to do with the vid but you are beautiful! And good point lol

  • agreed

  • Thank you so much for this! It's nice to hear a brother say such things about natural hair... btw your gourgeous!

  • *gorgeous

  • Thank you! Great video I love my natural hair and it is very easy to manage and I can get it any way I want from a fro to straight. As a brother I really appreciate your encouraging words. Love your hair!

  • Thank You

  • To be honest a lot of black girls really shouldn't be getting relaxers put in their head at an early age like that. That's why a lot are baldheaded. It's sad. Black women need to learn how to take care of their natural texture anyway. But yet some have the nerve to be jealous of girls who have long natural hair. I read where this mixed girl was talking about how the baldhead girls be telling her to cut her hair. Is that not jealousy or what?

  • I agree 100%, no little girl under the age of 18 should have a perm even if she wants it. They should be educated on the beauty and the uniqueness of it and let them make that decision on there own, but then if there parents dont think that way then they wont either.

  • I agree with both of you, I got my hair relaxed at 12 and it was not my mothers influence it was mine. It was a combination of frustration because my mother did not like doing my hair and it was a painfull process and I was getting peer pressure from my neighbors. Long story short, my mid back natural hair quickly became shoulder length dry, broken raggetdy mess of a head. The neighborhood kids didn't like me without or with a relaxer. Thank goodness I am natural and free.

  • My sister got her hair relaxed when she was like 7 or 8 and after my mom saw how her hair started falling out she decided not to perm mine...and i've been natural ever since. The point is it starts with the grownups. We need to educate adults now about the beauty of their natural hair so that value or idea can perpetuate itself within our communities.

  • You have a valid point, I agree 10,000%, most women don't have the choice to say whether they want a perm or not. Very true

  • i agree 100%...ur absolutely beautiful..i heart u..lol

  • you are beautiful

  • :) thank you

  • Thanks! I needed to hear that. I have cut my hair off and started over with the natural hair. I am learning to love it, and I have had some negative comments. You made some wonderful points and it is well said. ..lol and you are very handsome and i caught myself looking at your lips too..LOLOL

  • lol thank you for the compliment and I'm glad to know that I said somethings you needed to hear, we all need encouragement once in a while

  • yes you are right. we do need to be encouraged. Your dreads are nice... I just noticed them.

  • TheLotus2212 completely read my mind, copied, and pasted it into the comment box. It's uncanny!

  • You were very articulet. Well said

  • Thank You :)

  • U are Very Wise and insightful... :)

  • Thank you :)

  • You are sexy.

  • Thank You

  • Thank U

  • its hard doing something for 20 years and quitting something in a month.. Who taught us that permed hair is versatile and natural hair is primitive.. Mind Games. AND WE KNOW ITS NOT YOUR HAIR GIRLFRIEND! we know what horse tail looks like, horse mane, putting it on the back of a short ponytail. We love you black woman, you don't have to do it.

  • Yes we do love our black nubian godesses

  • well renceferd u already know ima loc mama lol but i was faithful to relaxers for a long time; since i was 8 all the way to the age of 18...natural hair was a personal choice..im the only one in my family besides my father who has locs..if a woman chooses to perm her hair..then thats her choice ..black women are beautiful regardless but even more in their natural state ..thats all i have 2 say lol

  • I agree ;)

  • Well I don't see anything wrong with how ppl wear their hair whether it is natural, permed, etc. I just feel that a person's hair is jus an accent to their own personal style. I do get my hair permed . I don't wear weave b/c I feel that my hair is fine the way it is. I have a stylist that helpsz treat my hair and taught me how to treat it on my own too. B/c ppl can go to the extreme and just damage it to the point of no return. So hey, do what ya do is all I can say.

  • well i am one who does not do the weave its just not me but i get perms n my hair looks great no problem with it. its healthy n i love it but sum ppl go overboard n they do damage their hair u just gotta be careful with those chemicals hey who always said natural was better? :)

  • Some people do go overboard, I agree

  • Very well said. Women (and men) need to love their natural beauty first. And as long as they have that love for themselves, it okay to wear the weaves and straightened hairstyles. It's only a problem when they hate themselves without it. I teach my children this. I hope others out there do the same. Great post!

  • Exactly my point, Thank you.

  • u made a good point. but i believe everyone should where there hair da way dey want 2. natural, permed, shaved, dyed...anyway. but this is a good video overall.

  • Thank You

  • Very tru my brotha. I agree with everything you said.

  • Thank You
