Then Godwins law proves to be wrong. Googan and Dyke rip the now ex editor apart . By what right do scum like Mullen have too investigate the private life's of citizens who are not breaking the law? Actors, singers ,sport personalities are paid for their skill and talent not for there private lives which should be of no interest to any body except there own families.
Go on Steve..slag off Murdoch..go on I dare you..nah..just do like everyone else and distract attention away from the master of sleeze and corruption, and divert attention to a sleezy newspaper and an low level journalist. Paul McMullen may be a dirty hack but he admits it. If you dealt drugs for Pablo Escobar, your no bigger a part of the disease than the filthy cop who takes bribes or the politician who takes contributions, and Coogan takes the Murdoch cash aswell.
There was a time when "left wing" comics, like Steve Coogan, would have railed against the despicable, immoral, right wing, power mad, media mogul murdoch. Not anymore, this isnt a bout the NOW, this is about Murdock the fy at the top of the shit heap, and everyone knows it, yet why is Coogan not having a go at old Rupert? Cos Coogan is just like the tory party, Labour party and police, in Murdochs back pocket. You don't slag off your boss. Anyone who takes Murdochs cash, is payed off scum.
No I don't. Plus I have no desire to fork out £££ to watch sky sports, and a bunch of millionaire over grown lads kick a ball about. Sky ruined football, which was once a poor mans game, they ruined boxing which was once something you could watch for free. these sports were once the nations property where people would talk about the big fight of the day, now its reduced to pay per view, where most people don't even know who the best fighters are. he buys popular culture and kills it
Anyhow whats on sky TV..a bunch of crap American imports generally, which repeat about 5 times a day...TV in general is a load of absolute crap. if people had something better to do with their time they wouldn't bother with it at all. id rather kick a bloody ball for free, its a better laugh and gets you off you fat arse, than pay to watch a multi millionaire do it. That's out society these days though..fucked.
McMullen is obviously a reptile, but coogan can't have it both ways. He likes coverage, but not all papers. I wonder if he would boycott the next 'Murdoch movie', or would he take the money and forget his standpoint?
@05istanbul It's the areas coverage Coogan is trying to bring forward. He said he was fine with finding problems with corruption or politicians but when it turned to others such as celebrities or vicitms (he describes as tittletattle) the methods used to get the private information that isn't directly in public intrest is immoral. A celebrity giving a talk to a news paper is different from taking private information from someones phones.
Coogan sells comedy performances, not his personal life.
@05istanbul I see what your saying, but getting paid by one of Murdoch's organs hardly means that one is fair game for phone tapping or invasion of privacy... It's reprehensible that people seem to think they own celebrities just because they are famous. Please explain why we need to know which celebrity is on drugs or shagging prostitutes? It's not exactly a matter of public interest.
This reminds me of Alan Partridge's meeting with Tony Hares, only this time Steve Coogan isn't the one shouting 'SMELL MY CHEESE YOU MOTHER!' It's Paul McMullen, he may as well say Monkey Tennis, or Inner City Sumo! :P
The problem is that The News Of The World are trying to defend what is frankly indefensible. The fact that they hacked Milly Dowler's phone messages and listened to/deleted messages is dangerous when the police are undergoing serious investigations. It could not only delay the judicial system, but increase the chances for the criminal reoffending.
What is even worse is why the police didn't catch onto the phone hacking affair sooner...
It would be fair to hack celebrites because the convosations will be heard anyway. What gets me pissed off is that they hack people like Milly Dowling and the parents of Afgan troops who died. That's not even bad, that's morally wrong! Would the news of the world like it if we published every conversation about their dead relatives in newspapers and online?? I doubt it very much!!
We need to see justice done for those victims damaged by the (few) thugs that disguise themselves as investigative journalists.
Much more than this, this issue is now a moral one in the public domain.
I’m sorry to say I also hold those that buy this type of paper somewhat responsible. If there were no celebrity fascination in this country what would happen?
See backdrop:captain "69" on the left......"69" on the right ..No-where one can turn? ... satanic beady peeping tom eyes above middle 9(top centre) . Every man who's anybody, reading the reference and quaking in his boots. And they say we dont have an organised crime problem in this country?
Ha.
Well, you know what folks? : YOURE LOOKING STRAIGHT AT IT- IN ACTION
damn, can you believe they are talking about needing 'regulators' for something like the news that is broadcast to the whole country. Goes to show how bent and corrupt it has been for such a very long time.
man, will we ever be set free from the lies and deceipt ?
Paul McMullen is everything you imagine the slime press to be about. A jealous urchin who needs to camp on Cougan's lawn because he never got fame and power himself
@username6510 Was she though? From the way she was articulating her points it didn't seem so. And notice how many times she cut off Steve Coogan. Although Coogan kind of messed up his platform by not formulating his argument very well, his argument sounded too personal. A smarter, or perhaps less emotional person would've torn him to shreds with the material he was providing..
Paul, you call yourself a journalist but you can't even debate properly. Not one of your arguments wasn't a logical fallacy.
First you claim that this is going to be "the end of freedom of press" (more like the end of newspapers who break the law to get stories). Then when Steve Coogan puts forth a decent argument you respond by attacking his character.
If I had any sympathy left for the News of the World, you completely destroyed it. Well done Paul.
