I'm actually related to jack through my father's side of the family; i actually am Scottish - but he seriously wasn't, he was English. I was lucky enough to actually meet him two or three times when i was a wee boy and he spoke like prince charles. He loved Scotland though, and everything Scottish. When he died he left me his kilt because i told him wheni was about seven that i wanted to be a soldier like him (rolling in his grave now; i became a mathematician instead!)

Seems to me this guy isn't exactly an admirable character. Other than being very lucky not to get a hole drilled in his head, he led his whole unit to their deaths, and he wanted the war to continue just so he could take a few more german heads?
