If youths under a certain age offend should be committed to detention centers in preparation of national service for 3-6 months. The answers simple. Police need more freedom, less criticism by the mockery of our media in this country. If youths under a certain age offend should be committed to detention centers in preparation of national service for 3-6 months. Adults +18 whos prosecuted sent to prison and forced to labor to remain there so prison is not a holiday camp or free. And bring back the death penalty. A life for a life period however must be absolutely overwhelming proof though. This will reduce crime.

Violence never achieved anything. If the students want to achieve change lobby your MP, don't take it out on the police... all you will achieve is nothing and loose any goodwill with the public.
The last Labour Govt bankrupted this country not the present one. They have to clear up the financial mess which affects us all, not just students.
Blame Gordon Brown, banks and people's greed for more and more materialistic crap that everybody wants to own because they have such shallow lives.

@loudman12 yes the poll tax would have gone because people would have voted the Tories out by the ballot box. People weren't actually that bothered about Iraq and voted the same government in again. Violent protesters achieve nothing and are attacking democracy. Such people should be dealt with harshly by the police. Water cannon, CS gas and rubber bullets please...and if that doesn't shift them, a few live rounds might do the trick!

@loudman12 we vote for a government every 4-5 years to represent us. If you don't like what they have done in that time you vote for a different one. That is democracy, to represent the views of the majority! Did the majority care about Iraq? Not really as they elected Labour back to power. Will people vote the Lib Dems out of power? Who knows we will have to wait for the next election. If you're not happy with that system set up your own party as is your democratic right.

They had the least share of the vote in ENGLAND, they only won because they had a majority in scotland and wales. The Cons's had the bigger amount , so dont give me that crap of demoncracy. We dont have a majority now as it is a joint share for lib dems and con's so it is not a majority government.
