  • @CPELVIRA ya just like millions are texting while driving out on the road with our loved ones.

  • very good song

  • maybe if the driver was not texting all this shit would of never happen!

  • No. The signals at CP Topanga had malfunctioned several times the week of the accident. Texting made everthing look bad but was not the true cuase of the accident. In the weeks after the accident Metrolink replaced some of the control points on the Ventura Line as a result.

  • well this happened because they had an issue with the signal for the Stop signal because they had the right to go because 1. they were already late on schedule

    2. There was a problem with the stop signal

    3. They are looking into making that a two track train route

they really need to look at all the things that go wrong in one crash like that and they don't do that they don't take it into consideration so they really need to start doing that.

  • Oh my Goshhh that's so sad I just wentt on that train a few days back),:

  • Yeah but i can tell you this, this is not just hapen accident, it's purpose accidend it's our government's job, and they pretend they just hapen cuz of brake fails or radio or somthing else. They just make excuse, thats all. Remember accidents don't hapen just like that, some body try to kill some one on other train, don't care about 1000's of other. Same thing hapen on 9/11 in New York. thats government job, and they blame other peoples.

  • Great video, sad story indeed.

  • It was certainly the worst crash this area has experienced - and all because the engineer was text messaging to his young friends and missed the stop signal.

  • Why dont you put a cd together FatWagar , and call it desperate Video's for a beached whale it would sell I mean there's plenty of you out there.

  • Dont talk to her that way. She is a fine woman

  • that's not nice... u big meanie!!

  • LOL~~~yeah MEANIE!!

  • i get teeth remarks on here all the time... it gets old after awhile...hehe but whatever right?

  • My cousin Jake works for that train line and they will be looking into putting a double train line to not have to switch tracks like that anymore. They don't put into mind that there are peoples life at risk with that line there. Their job is to get people to where they need to go and they just spent millions on those LEDS crossing lights and gate arms. They are looking into funding money for that second rail line they will be adding 64 MORE gate light getting added on

    please reply, MichaelR.

  • @mreil23 They can't do that because there are tunnels there. It would cost too much money to drill through there to double track it.

  • Ok. Ill keep you posted. Youtube "Metrolink conductor's Tragic Past". Then Youtube "Metrolink and Freight Train Collision", at 3:10 you see a picture of the locomotive at full throttle.

  • -.- where i saw a metroling driving a curve i was shocken the curves are so strong no wonder that this train derail

  • This must end. There is a way to stop it with electronics and derailers. It is bullshit. The railroads are too cheap to do it.

  • sorry but you gotta know even if any kind of train stop device was in play, by the time the device would have gotten the train stopped it would have been past the sig and switch anyway. they still would have hit. not as fast? doubt it.

  • Sorry, but you have to be on crack! It can be done, but the railroads dont value human life.

  • crack ? no, facts yes. sorry but its the truth just because its labeled a "safety device" doesnt mean it would have prevented this. have you run this teritory? it wouldnt have made very much diffirence at all in this situation sorry. and ya i understand what do you expect its big biz all they see is the allmighty dollar.

  • a derail protected signal, much like the ones near kaiser would have prevented this accident. it would have derailed the metrolink train before it passed the signal and ran through the switch and into the UP trains authority.

  • Thats terrible

  • my friends dad was in that he broke 10 ribs fractured his skull and brok his arm and knee!!!! he flew out of the window me and his daughter r crying and i am praying for the best please help us!!! :((

  • I think the only thing that compares is waking up on November 5th and finding out Obama is our president.. simply a nightmare.

  • lol

  • that is SO funny... oh wait. no it's not. it's morbid.

  • Amen!

  • lol. I was under the impression that Americans already knew communism did't work. Guess they needed 4 years of Obama to remind them?

  • I've ridden that train...really, public transportation in Southern Ca either is too little, too far between or when they get more going, it has problems. This was a horrible accident. Text messaging! Geeeeez

  • Hear hear

  • InjuryLawyers SHhhhhhh... Adults are talking.

  • Thank you for your kind words.

  • InjuryLawyers is an Ambulance chaser. Freak!!!!!

  • Understood. I just feel bad for the families that they have to see these low lifes trashing you and your good works.

  • Point well taken!

  • I think it is a great video and I would ban most of these immature commenters as spammers.

  • I considered it, but I thought I would let the world see how ignorant they are!!

  • I agree- move the lawyers out of the discussion- this is not a forum to chase folks in the hopes of making a quick dollar. I hope the video uploader bans lawyers for bottom feeding on this horrible accident.

  • Well. I am a lawyer, and I am sad about what happened and would gladly find other sources of business.

But everyone hates us till they need us and I am there to help in any way I can, both as a citizen and as an officer of the Court.

  • Yeah right!!! You are so full of your own shit you are beginning to believe it!!! You are nothing more than an AMBULANCE CHASING BOTTOM FEEDER!!! FREAK!!!

  • Actually this guy has a sense of humor.. much more easy to have fun with than the other lawyers who put up videos after the accident.

  • Seem like a nice enough guy, perhaps spend five years doing pro bono work in compton or stockon? Those people need your help as an officer of the court.

  • Sure, but who will support my wife and kids? Will you help?

  • Good point. So how bout the kids that were texting the engineer- you think they will get thier asses sued into the ground as a part of this whole mess?

  • No, but I am curious to know if the homosexual train operator had AIDS like his dead boyfriend, and if he was a member of MANBLA, and/or if we was having sex with those young and impressionable boys. It would explain a lot.

  • Indeed it would.. hopefully the EMS boys were gloved up when they tried to find dirty sanchez. I guess having full blown aids at 15 is worse than watching mom and dad move out of the house due to a lack of an umbrella policy.

  • I don't know about all that, but the train conductor clearly lived a high risk lifestyle and that would explain potential suicidal and reckless tendencies.

You'll recall that he had previously killed a pedestrian without so much as breaking, but the politically correct Metrolink kept him working.

  • And he loved grayhounds. I hate those dogs.

  • Not their fault. God made them dogs and the friendly neighborhood gay guy bread them as Greyhounds.

If I found out he was texting my son, he would not have died in a crash.

  • A good point. Yeah obviously the parents must not have paid much attention to what the little shits were up to. All BS aside I feel bad for the people just trying to get home. Seeing those idiot kids getting on camera all excited about the fact that they knew the engineer's name before the press figured it out was pretty sickening.

  • Yes it was a lot of sensationalism. I feel bad for the train operators parents. If your son lived a high risk lifestyle that went against your religious, Catholic faith, for example, it would really hurt a lot.

  • My guess is they wrote him off when his AIDs infected lover killed himself. That and can you imagine how upset his mother must have been when she saw his text msg bill the first month he hooked up with the boy railfans? (Assuming he was abnormally close to his mother of course)

  • When are you going to come out of your own closet? AS A AMBULANCE CHASING BOTTOM FEEDING LAWYER? The signs are all there... It's OK you can come out, we knew a long time ago...

  • Bottom Feeder!

  • Ok, now you have my attention. How does MetroLink keeping the conductor working after a fatal accident make them POLITICALLY CORRECT? You are not making any sense or maybe you are trying to figure an angle to collect. ChaChing!

  • You might want to rethink this approach... I thought lawyers went to college.

  • You seem pretty upset that the dude wants to take some cash from the company that let this asshole txt boys while operating the train. Why so upset?

  • And to listen to his crap that he "CARES" really makes me want to puke!

  • Thing is, I put my video up almost a year before this latest Chatsworth Metrolink accident. I have been an advocate for rail safety long before this latest crash.

Yes, I do earn a living by helping people, but my efforts online have always been educational, not "bottom feeding".

  • You're saying this, "BLAH BLAH BLAH" and I want to hear this, "..."

  • @matt90026

    "..."

  • No, you don't earn your living helping people. The ones earning a living helping people are the men and women you see in this video from LACFD and other responding agencies. Hats off to them, they did an amazing job.

  • I respectfully disagree with your position that lawyers don't help people injured in the Metrolink accident. At least some do. I represent victims of that accident.

But I do agree that hats off to LACFD, and that is coming from a former Marine who put his life on line before becoming a lawyer.

  • You are so full of CRAP! You're a bottom feeding Douche bag. Being a former Marine doesn't make you any less a Douche bag today. Maybe you can go defend all those other Douche Bags on Wall Street. You can sue the federal government for not Bailing out all those rich CEO's and Washington Insiders. LOL I love it!

  • I sincerely hope and pray that you are never injured and in need of an experienced attorney to fight for you as I was.

  • Thats what they are paid to do, no different than my postman. Lawyers, on the other hand, truly help those who need it. Go watch TV in the day room and wait for another illegal burn, hero.

  • Is that a little Freudian slip "WE"?

  • How do your parents feel about your lifestyle? Sucking a dollar off the families of a Train Crash? Feeding off the flesh of dead. It just aint Christian Like!

  • Gotta blame somebody. Right away, huh! Speculation. Sure we may have some knowledge but there could be underlying details that the NTSB investigation will prove with facts. Let them complete their findings while we mourn, then learn from the mistakes. Start by constructing passenger cars that won't telescope in unlikely event of a crash.

  • Who is blaiming anyone? Just because the homosexual engineer was texting teen boys 60 seconds before he took a header with an Uncle Pete freight does not mean he had anything to do with it.

  • lol.

  • fuck that... let them die

  • what the hell is wrong with you?

  • Whether or not the engineer was texting or tired, I'm wondering what the conductor was doing. Is he supposed to pay attention to the signals too and contact the engineer if he misses one, if not why not?? Two pairs of eyes are better than one. Supposedly a safety system is too costly but surely as a starting point they could put transmitters on all signals and an alarm in the cab as well as an automatic brake applicator if the alarm is ignored.

  • he did it on purpose

  • why you say that?

  • he was troubled. gay. he had just killed his gay lover. he was too experienced to make a mistake like that. suicide and he did not want to go alone.welcome to reality

  • Wow. As a train enthusiat that represent yourself as, I sure am glad you did not lose someone

  • i live in ireland not u.s.a so i never evan herd of this train

  • WHo cares? A bunch of dead liberals. Fuck em. less votes for Obama. they deserved it! Maybe their messiah Obama can raise them from the dead!!! HAHA!!

  • what happened in your life?

  • Why don't you stop being an oxygen thief and enlist.

Be a real American. Do your part to enrich Dick Cheney.

  • its fake !

  • wish that was true

  • i feel very sorry for those who are close to the victims.. its really sad, i couldnt imagine losing a clos friend, or family! shame on those boys, if thats the cause.

  • So, so sad... unbelievable that this could even happen. Great tribute.

  • I lost a good friend in this accident. I just found out 12 hours ago that he was involved. I was wondering why he wasn't returning my phone calls. Now I know why...

  • i fell so so sorry for what happend!!!!!

  • i knew so many people that died or got hurt on this

  • I am so sorry for your loss

  • what happened!?!?!?!

  • weird it happened after 9/11

  • As you may or may not recall, terrorists have been planning to hack into our railway and aircraft control systems to cause accidents.

That is what they are not saying.

Blaming someone who is dead to hide the truth is what our government does best.

I do not think the engineer caused the accident. I think both lights were green.

  • Neat theory. I think the light was red and an engineer was too busy texting 2 boys to notice.

  • my friend was on the train, she didnt make it

  • I am so very sorry for your loss

  • ya she was on her way home from visiting her dad in Glendale

  • im very sorry.. i couldnt imagine losing a friend. :(

  • see thats one thing i hate from the laws people vote on in sacramento, but yet their employees don't follow them.i know metro is just a contractor for the state but don't you think the laws should apply to everyone..

  • Sad all around, my heart goes out to the families. No, texting someone is not against the law, and No I dont think the teens should be in any trouble, However, they knew the trains schedule, they knew he would be driving it and at what time. He was their "mentor", their fault or not, they will undoubtly blame themselves for a long time, hope they get some therapy.

  • RIP Kari Hsieh

Hart High School Class of 2009

  • This is so sad

  • now 25 are dead

  • RIP MR GRACE LOVE YOUU

    - RMS

  • It's just not easy to get born in the US and have an American citizenship. Please treasure your life!

  • R.I.P. Maria E. Villalobos.

  • Is your counselor ok?

  • no he past away 5 min after he arived at the hospital with his family it so sad

  • my counceler mr grace was in it godame you fucking train driver for texting

  • Is your counselor ok?

  • 25 dead, 135 injured!!

  • blame the teeagers.. texting killed so many..shame on those two

  • i agree.. its completely wrong of them to be texting him while driving a train, lok what happend! he missed one signal and he killed over 25 people, and his buddy he was texting. its horrible, and im very sorry the all the families of the victims.

  • On the green light you go, on the red light you stop, cause no engineer would ever run a red light and remember, michelle obama knows how to keep it real

  • very very very sad incident!:| R.I.P. & Strength to L.A.

  • 135 injured, 25 died. my older cuz was in it.

  • Did ur cousin make it?

  • yes she did. she was sssoooo lucky. she was in the last cart. she broke 3 ribs and messed up her liber. she's in the hospitle. but she's commen out in a day. =) thank you for ur concirne. srry i sux at spelling.

  • ohh thats good...well thats bad that she broke 3 ribs and messed up her liber but its good that she lived.

  • ya. did u loose anyone??

  • nope:] but a councelor from my middle school died by im 11th grade now

  • Charge the teens with murder for contributing to the crash by texting!

  • Why? The teens didn't "force" the engineer to text them back, if that's what he did. He didn't have to do that at all. Besides, we now know the engineer ran the red light, and his train forced open a closed switch. Certainly the teens have nothing to do with that.

  • I cant see them getting charged with murder. Being listed on the hundreds of civil suits from the victims? You bet. Hope mom and dad were not too attached to the house.

  • so the next time you text someone, and it just so happens that person is driving a car, and they crash (using an example other than a train), and kill someone, it was your fault, because you should have known they were driving a car and should not have text messaged them? PLEASE! Texting someone is not against the law, and CreoteCW is right... the engineer had the choice not to answer. The teens did notihng wrong, if in fact that is the real story.

  • Oh nobody said they did anything wrong. But there is little doubt that the texting would be a distraction for the engineer. Who knows if his looking down to read one of the teen's messages caused him to miss a signal, resulting in the death of 25 people. Good point though- no need to blame the boys!

  • Wow...I am so sorry for those who were on that MetroLink train on the day of the tragedy :-( I hope their families are compensated for this irreversible damage.

    Jen

  • god bless, rest in peace

  • O my GOD - we are forgetting a huge fact here.

Is this guy a REAL TRAIN ENGINEER? Does operating a commuter train qualify?

Here in DFW our "public transportation" is nothing more than a "social" job program. Going to their facility is like walking into the U.N. building. Always 8-10 sub-group Americans speaking all their different languages.

Of course if you go to WAL-MART you can see SIGNS posted entirely in SPanish.

I would not let them even put gas in my car.

  • the "authorities" are looking into the engineer's and several TEEN's phone records - what was this guy doing texting teenagers.

This country has fallen so far in the last 15 years, God help us cause or leaders & politicians have become so narcissistic. If you go to the grocery store they want you to fill out a form just to buy groceries.

Authorities want EVERYTHING ON RECORD, but cant even prevent stupid accidents like this.

I guess it is true, dictators love unarmed peasants.

  • What a crying shame ... leaving all the politics aside and blame-laying ... it's just an awful horror that these lives were lost and that so many will forever have to live with the trauma and pain.

  • You know it is sad that some Frigging train enthusiasts would go on live television, to have a moment in the sun, and admit to texting an engineer while on duty. They the enthusiasts should be held as culpable in the deaths of all those innocent people. Maybe it would keep the foamers off the track.

  • Lazyboy, You are so right! that or maybe on THEIR cell phone! so easy now to blame a dead man

  • god forbid the dispatcher do his or her job and have the switches properly lined. never should have happened.prob didnt answer the radio in time while they were out smoking a cigarette or at the soda machine.

  • While the news is ALLEGING Mr Sanchez Was text messaging, lets remember this investigation is still in the preliminary stages. Also it is very easy to blame a dead man and not a company that has been wrought with problems.

  • This is tragic. America's rail system is in the toilet. What happened here is comparable to allowing airliners to take off in opposite directions on the same runway. Tenerife?

  • I hear the driver was sending messages on his cellphone and missed a red signal? With only one engineer on the Metrolink trains this was bound to happen. because a slight lack of concentration can have devastating consiquences!

  • that just happened!

  • Did Sanchez survive?

  • no.

  • Sanchez another product of affirmative action. And why so many teen boy toys? Not properly trained in common sense. A mentor? Wow does he have them fooled. He should of stuck to his own age bracket.

  • Metrolink is the railroad that was built by idiots. Did they bother making it safe beforehand, or were they just cheap so they could avoid accusations of "pork" by McCain types? McCain types are the cause of many a future rail accident.

  • i was supposed to be on that train...it's so weird how plans change.

  • OMG! Thank God you were not on that train. Reminds me of my grandma, she was supposed to be on the Titanic but was late.

  • R.I.P. Paul Long, Devin Long thoughts and prayers are always with you, stay strong, i know you can.

  • thats the last f***ing time I'm riding on Metrolink. I'm going greyhound or driving to L.A. URGH!! Like others here, I was watching 9/11 on the history channel and on the phone with my sister crying about the tragedy in NY 7 years ago. My sister says.. hey, you know eastcoast got 9/11, the south got Hurricane Katrina and now I think Los Angeles is next. Now OMG!!! this happens. GREAT! Everytime I took the train and was scared shitless of a crash and now this... no more metrolink!! :(

  • by the way... your pictures are fuzzy.

  • only the first few are, but thanks

  • None of those events have anything to do with each other. Bad things happen. This is a dumb reason to avoid Metrolink. There have only been a few crashes on the Metrolink but automobile accidents happen everyday. I assume you won't be riding in any cars either right?

  • awful music!

  • Not much choice with copyright laws, thanks

  • gee Jimmy - call the families of the DEAD passengers and let them know how you feel. I am sure they will be real impressed my you. JIMMY -IF COMPUTER RECORDS SHOW THE ENGINEER WAS SENDING TEXT MESSAGES TO TEEN-AGE BOYS - what do YOU think was going on ???? I guess you can TEXT while being responsible for hundreds of lives - WOULD you like the doctor operating on your mom to be sending text messages to teen-age girls during her operation - WAKE UP JIMMY - IT IS CALLED RESPONSIBILITY.

  • This is what happens when metrolink is forced to hire liberal pedophiles.

  • You know the military is hurting for recruits right now. Why don't you stop being an oxygen thief and enlist?

  • Only if you volunteer to be a target. Then, I'm in.

  • I did my service already. National Guard then Navy. One son graduated from USNA.

What about that oxygen you are consuming?

  • You call that service? Puddle pirate.

  • "On the green light you go, on the red light you stop cause no engineer would ever run a red light"

Quote made famous by Engineer Bill

  • Yes, 25 people are dead, 45 are in critical condition, and another 45 are seriously injured.

See what happens when an idiot is "TEXT MESSAGING" while operating a vehicle (train or car, it doesn't matter). Yes, the engineer of the passenger train was TEXT MESSAGING back and forth to a geeky teen train enthusiast at the time of the collision and was distracted from seeing the stop light indicating for him to pull the train over onto a diverting track to wait for the freight train to pass by.

  • It is to soon to make wild accusations as to the cause of the collision.Someone on that train had to have seen the signal light,as this will either vindicate the dead engineer's name or will prove he is the cause.I'm not willing to assume the signal light was red because central dispatch's computers indicated it was.Just remember the engineer was the first person to die in the crash.Your brain is to weak to imagine the g-forces the engineers body must have encountered upon impact.Jackass.

  • pull the train over onto diverting tracks?

Wow, you know a lot about how trains work professor.

  • Well, Mr. Smarty-Pants, I happened to speak from experience and have rode the #111 from Union Station to Montecito for work many times, and in the tunnel are two tracks, the thorough route and a diverted stopping track where the passenger train stops to allow the frieght train the yield, and we sat their in the tunnel stopped and waiting until the freighter cleared by us before the engineer of the passenger train would proceed. So you really don't know anything about trains after all.

  • OK you changed your tune.

  • well MR SANCHEZ - things are different in america than mexico huh ???? - well that little habit of yours TEXTING teenage boys has been cured huh - too bad you had to KILL a lot of innocent people in the process - growing up I yearned to go to california because it was so cool, now i view californai as a fool - THIS COUNTRY HAS GOT TO WAKE-UP BEFORE ALL IS LOST.

  • Hey Idiot, he was born here, and his great-great grandparents were mexican. Stop saying its his mexican fault! Its NOT LIKE HE TRIED TO KILL THEM!

  • As a locomotive engineer myself, I always pay attention to whats in front of me. If we are stopped in a siding, yeh the phone is ok. But if we are moving it's all eyes ahead. A signal is a crucial item it is your life line, go, go slow, stop, etc.... Someone was not paying attention in this accident obviously. We have a saying on the railroad, "LEAVE IT AT THE DOOR" meaning if you troubles outside of work, clear your mind and concentrate on safely completing the job.

  • ...in Europe,i write from europe, one has installed signals, communicating the train automatically.this´d been important for the fast trains in poor weather conditions.but it surely can used in any kind of train traffic,in such great cities as L.A. this would use something i guess.

  • there were in england allready two major train incidents due confusion of the signals.you know, the trains signals are not set always in the same place. One is down by the track, one is above the track, and in a documentary saying the machinists that´in the daylight some of the signals are very hard to differ which color is on.the english incidents were simulated, most of the people havent notice that, the signal was red.

  • Shame on the unions and the F.R.A., 1 man head end crews, no cab signals, no auto train stop, cell phones. Dangerous mixture. Poor people R.I.P.

  • Just heard the "Disturbing" news. The engineer, Rob Sanchez was "texting" while conducting the engine! Last text message went to a teenage boy ONE MINUTE before COLLISION!!! As reported by CBS.

  • OMG really?

    This is so very sad!
