this anime is truly beautiful. It actually has a plot, the nudity is necessary for the scenes and not just there for kicks, it was unpredictable, and left you emotionally attatched to the characters (sort' of) and had realism <(things that would actually happen. for example not many people survive in this anime, they dont survive.) the last 6 episodes had me speechless. i like other animes but this was great. if theres any animes like this let me know, im currently watching 29 animes right now

Gantz and Elfen Lied both use gore, and pure shock value to achieve their greatness. Gantz is gorier, has better characterization and a more interesting story line. Elfen Lied is equally dramatic if not more so, it has less gore although it has more blood. Elfen lied's drama is created by showing shocking cruelty, but gantz does a better job at building suspense, and a little more action. Both are superior anime. If you liked one, you will surely like the other.

@dbear851 Simple. The Anime goes for 26 episodes. From 22 - 26 they kill the Anime and change the ending to something utterly retarded.

The Manga goes for well over 300 chapters so far and is still going. They've also made one live action movie for Gantz and are in the process of making another that'll be released this year, too.

@dbear851 the difference is that the anime's 4th mission was a filler ending. the anime's 4th mission never happened in the manga. the manga continues to have many more missions that are even more badass and more deadly. many more characters just as badass as Kurono being introduced that the anime never got to cause of the filler.

the anime was awesome. people just don't like the anime because of the filler ending that leaves everyone hanging. that's the only thing that ruined it for everyone.

That's why people like violent stuff regardless of plot. Nishi pretty much hit the nail on the head when he described most humans on earth. we're all just sick fucks, not just Nishi, which is also why we enjoy shows and games of that nature. and it's also what makes Gantz and those other shows that you mentioned so popular.
