yes it does, It conditions them to strike at you when you put your hand in the cage and also they can swallow some of the substrate and get an impaction and die.

@Musicmanstngry Lol clearly you still believe in those ball python husbandry myths.. I feed all of mine in my enclosure and have never been mistaken for food. Snakes have a jacobsons organ which is a hyper-smell and they use it to identify rodents. If you dont smell like rodent, it wont strike at you. My source of info is I own 5 ball pythons and have consulted numerous big breeders about correct husbandry

use feeding tongs instead and put the tongs up to the rat's mouth. That way the ball python won't accidently swallow any pencil pieces if the rat happens to leave some around

I have pet mice. And this is just sick... I know it what they eat but come on. Just shine what the poor mouse is thinking... That it's the end of his life and he is helpless .. What if that were to happen to you. All of the sudden you get kidnapped by a stranger and they feed you to thier pet...it's just like begging for your life when your being tortured , so if you ever get abducted just imagine that it's exactly what the mouse was going through.

I feed live and the first time he got bit by just watching the mouse do circles around him and let him crawl on himself after that he start striking the mouse as soon as he sense him, couple weeks later i feed him and he went for the body and not the head like he normally does and got bit, he hasn't made those mistakes again and he has no injuries or infections

Wow, this is extremely unnecessary. So much simpler to flick the rat in the head to stun it. What happens if your snake flips in a way that you cant get to the rats face? what happens if your snake bites it IN the face? Then you're just as screwed.

If the snake flips him around then I will just pull him back where I can get the pencil to him. I prefer swinging the rat instead of hitting him. The main objective is to "stun" the rat. The rat is gonna die anyway. I'm juts showing you a way so your snake wont get bit and get an infection from it.

well to all those who are angry if you knew anything about ball pythons is there finicky eaters and alot of them will only eat live mice. this is the most humane way to do it as ive heard of people injecting there rats with vitamins and then ripping there teeth out before the live feeding

great video. a good whack on the head works a lot better for stunning them but I understand most people aren't comfortable doing that. I have a few that will not under any circumstances eat frozen so for now I still have to feed live.
