It's the Requiem for a Dream theme. They just used it in the LotR: The Two Towers trailer.

Uh...Sonic IS epic. Just because he's a hedgehog doesn't mean he can't be epic. MARIO is epic. STAR FOX is epic. AND SONIC IS EPIC.
