this movie made me terrified to go on rolleroasters as if it wasnt bd enough. also funny to see that boss from just shoot me in his younger days! and iveseen that pshycho before, the girl next door! that guy ha been everywhere!
This movie had a great cast: Widmark, Fonda, Segal, Guardino. It was a suspenseful "In The Line Of Fire" climax with the last detonator scene. I too, saw it in Sensurround. Dig the shot of Segal on the coaster in the movie where the camera leaps off the track and the people scream, then the shot turns to the coaster turning on the track. A misdirection camera trick used in the 70's. Apparently, the camera man got backlash for using the shot, which was done by helicopter.
A 70s classic. I watch it more than "Jaws." The amusement park at the beginning of the trailer (and movie) was in Virginia Beach, not California..........
Sensurround is a process developed in the 1970s by Universal Studios to enhance the audio experience during the presentation of theatrical movies. Specifically developed to showcase the 1974 film Earthquake, the process was also used in three subsequent films, Midway (1976), Rollercoaster (1977)

Wasn't this movie shown in "Sensurround" when it was in the theater? For some reason I remember real deep, booming base while watching it.

A fave of mine since '77. Great movie and great cast with all relavant scripting which defined the characters who they were.
