i have a halfmoon betta in a one gallon tank and it has 3 plants and a rock that i bought at petsmart? he never hides . is this because he has the plants and the rock in his tank?
@Timespartan111 well real rock, fake rock wasn't the issue i was addressing. What i was addressing was the teenage-bahavin' ten-second-attention-span havin' bitchy snippy little youtube comments of most of you youtubers out there but at least you're showing a sliver of humbleness. Peace!
plastic is not very natural 'though, ...a real hobyist uses real plants, CO2 system (build it yourself), etc... be a little creative in the things you like to do !!!!! maybe you can put in plastic fish ; ) just kidding !
wow this fails so much. 0:491:16 and 1:24 are all complete bullsht
and who ever said plecos are the only fish who like to hide thats bs too. All fish like to hide at some point especially if thers a dominant fish in there like a large gourami
Yeah, expert. When i heard the word plastic, i knew he's no expert, just trying to sell crap. he's a commercial expert lolz, 30 years went to waste if you think plastic is better than natural ;). i prefer natural ;).
I have 4 neon tetras, 1 angelfish, 1 guppy and 2 fry, a grown algea eater (one that looks like catfish), and a molly. I have enough plants, including artificial, but I have a cave in the middle that no fish except for the algea eater goes to. I'm worried because my Angelfish is getting bigger, so it needs more room to swim: should I get rid of the cave? I mean, the algea eater really likes it, but there's a bubbler that he could use as shelter and an umbrella of artificial plants.
@Freakishd well, a bigger tank would be a better solution, how large is your angel? and what size tank is it in? Is your algae eater a pleco (common or otherwise), a chinese, or siamese algae eater, or an otocinclus? It makes a big difference. I would leave the cave in there, a bubble stone is not really what a fish would consider shelter. If you want some help or advice, I would reccomend checking some forums, try googling aquatic community forum, they're great.
Dude...of course getting a bigger tank would be the solution, but im 17 freaking years old. I don't have the money. That's the reason I asked about the cave. Plus, notice that this was 3 weeks ago, and I already made up my mind about taking it out and the pleco is doing great. When I said I had a bubbler, I'm not talking about a rock. It's a greek amphitheater so it's large. But you're right, the fish don't swim into the bubbles. My pleco is currently inhabiting a block of shade.
@Freakishd Well, you asked a question and I was trying to answer, but I also didn't have all the info. I wasn't trying to be rude, I was only wanting to help. You never said you had a pleco, you said algae eater, there's more than one type of fish that could be referred to as an algae eater. How am I supposed to know what fish you stock, how old you are, and what your financial situation is? Don't expect an ideal answer on youtube, and don't be an ass when you get that less than ideal answer.
HAHA! You say you weren't trying to be rude? Neither was I! Plus, I was going to write in quotations that I found out it was a pleco but there were no more characters. I also meant to add some unintellegent ":P :D XD :)" Sigh.........the only way people can tell that you're friendly is if they spek liek dis LOLZ XD
But dude, you have to admit. OF COURSE getting a bigger tank would help. If I could've I definately would. This is why my question was about the CAVE.
@Link4681 Expertvillage is most certainly not a joke; it would have to make sense to be a joke. I took their advice and my 12 gallon eclipse system has five plicosimust, 2 oskir, and 20 knee on tetris plus some big fish that look like a owl! My tank super happy for 3 hours so far thanks to expertvillage!
@lobsternoob dude i can read..... and by the way you must be a dumbass cause first of all you should only keep like 10-12 neons in a 12 gallon tank, plecos end up having 30 gallon tanks and get HUGE, and oscars make you get a freaken 200 gallon or something.plus your tank is already crowded. dont tellme what is and isnt a joke cause just by knowing what your tank has tells me that its a really bad joke. besides expertvillage isnt helpful at all they dont tell you anything u need to know.
@Link4681 Ok, so you can read, but you obviously can't get sarcasm. LOL I horribly misspelled plecostomus and said knee on tetras and you still took my comment seriously. Really? gimme a break. I was trying to point out how bad the expert village videos are.
@lobsternoob you figure out sarcasm by the way someone says it, not by reading a comment..... Is it even possible to tell by the way someone says something??? and besides do you think i'm a 4 year old? i think i can read neon tetras, plecos, and oscars.... and many others at my age can too....
@Link4681 Ok, they're a piece of crap, happy? Yes I know sarcasm is usually determined by tone, but it's pretty hard to include that in text. I guess saying something that sounds so stupid to me I couldn't possibly read it and take it seriously just doesn't cut it. I really thought the "knee on" tetra thing would get the point across, because I have a hard time fathoming how someone could possibly be as dumb as I tried to sound. Funny thing is, I wasn't trying to argue with you, I was agreeing.
@Link4681 I was trying to make a point that if someone listens to fishkeeping advice from expertvillage they're probably so dumb they have a totally overstocked tank and don't even know what kind of fish they have, or care, and being that dumb, the person probably couldn't spell. Just trying to demonstrate how stupid someone could be. Thankfully I'm not actually that bad at spelling lol.
you don't put plastic in a tank if you love fishes you put real things to recreate a corner of nature if you want to put plastic you better do something else
omg people help!!!! ok so i just got a calico ryukin goldfish in a 10 gallon tank ,the tank has benn sitting 4 almost a week now and just 30 min ago i got him, his body is turning a dark blue and one time he just sat at the bottom of the tank for a 1 min until i used the net to get him to move. i did test the water its perfect. and very clean, he has lots of room to swim the light is on right now but its getting dark so i need 2 leave it on.please help me figure it out n quick!!!
@nyletakatelyn try to get a real aquarium with real plants and some roots innit. they really like that and it looks good too. and try to get some friends for the little fishy. i dont know really if the goldfish are happier with friends or alone. but my guess is they like other goldfishs there with em. and check the hardness of the water too
omg why dont people talk about the classic fishbowl?? im pretty sure most cramped spaced rooms can fit a fishbowl better than a frickin aquarium >.> and im pretty sure people dont know how to set a fishbowl up either =_=
My aunty had a gold fish that the cat bought home (still lucky to be alive ) and she put it in a bowl and the fish lived for 9 years, no filter or anything lol
they were crayfish/crawdads/crawfish...it depends on where you come from what theyre called but theyre basically just mini lobsters. those blue ones are kinda rare and run about $20 you can catch the normal brown/red ones in creeks by overturning rocks in the slow slack waters.

Im very interested to find out about all the fish species available to the average consumer. One thing about fish hiding? Don't you think you would try and hide in a loosely decorated aquarium rather than a overly decorated beauty tank?I may be wrong.
Ummm... certain fish DO care about their surroundings... and, depending upon your water chemistry in your area, it is NOT always advisable to choose natural decorations for your tank. Doing this could result in a chemical imbalance. Some can be beneficial, and some detrimental... Please remember: an aquarium is a STATIC, contained environment... Use discretion when choosing decorations and ask about the effect on water chemistry.
JaydeHadfield: wash all decorations under clean water. NO SOAP!!!! soap is poison to fish!! ...make sure youre water pump has horizontal water flow, for current! most fish like a good current. wash sand or gravel in strainer. under clean water to get debris out of it.
Chinese algae eaters are extremely aggressive, he would be better off with a more calm pleco (most plecos grow to 2 feet and some larger) however there are smaller versions like the rubernose which usually gets about 6 inches in length.

JaydeHadfield: wash all decorations under clean water. NO SOAP!!!! soap is poison to fish!! ...make sure youre water pump has horizontal water flow, for current! most fish like a good current. wash sand or gravel in strainer. under clean water to get debris out of it.

Chinese algae eaters are extremely aggressive, he would be better off with a more calm pleco (most plecos grow to 2 feet and some larger) however there are smaller versions like the rubernose which usually gets about 6 inches in length.

true but i would perfer a snail. they do the same job. plus plecos need a 5 gallon tank when snails need 1 gallon.
