There is a lot of noise from the air resistance, but what you hear in the video are the fighter jets that escort the shuttle during the later phases of the landing.
Does anyone know how fast it is traveling during landing, when the wheels actually first hit the runway?? And if so, do you also happen to know the speed of a passenger jet at that same moment for comparison???
Ha! i aslo met him, i answered a question that he expected no one to know- it was why the shuttle does a roll when it gets to the iss... of course for the foam strikes.. but i beat himXD
i´m from argentina. i like the STS program. is very beautiful, and thanks for the clip. it has good sound (in the landing). sorry my english say. if you speak spanish:
yo soy de argentina. a mi me gusta el programa STS. es muy hermoso, y te agradezco el video. tiene buen sonido (en el aterrizaje). perdona mi forma de hablar ingles.
i was there for the launch 2 weeks ago, and went back for the landing today...this was my 5th shuttle launch, but my first landing and those twin booms are something i wont soon forget, you really dont get a feel for just how fast its going when youre watching on camera, or how high it is as it starts its overhead turn. i didnt catch glimpse of it until "on at the 90" came over the radio
Im surprised at how noisy the shuttle is when it lands, since its only the air resistance of the shuttle that is creating the noise

There are not many machines that I find as amazing as the shuttle, maybe Concorde too.

この映像は大気圏に入ってから、別の並走ジェット機で撮影したんですか?、この時点での速度は時速500キロ位ですか。

An artificial overlay locates the runway for visual reference to the pilots.

I was there for the landing too, 2 days before I flew back to Scotland, I was so lucky to see the shuttle landing, I'll probably not see this again!
