@44excalibur judging by your 65 post in this forum, it seems that no one should be allowed any opinions except you. You'll argue with anyone won't you?
I know there's a lot of Michelle fans out there, but I must say one thing:
SELINA KYLE IS NOT BLONDE!!!!!!!!
Now Anne Hathaway isn't my first choice -- that would go to Emily Blunt or Kate Beckinsale -- but at least she has the right hair color. Would it have killed Michelle to break out the black hair dye?
@JamesADempsey But Selina Kyle in the comics wasn't "damaged." This is Tim Burton's interpretation of the character, not the character as she is from the comics.
Michelle Pfeiffer is my favorite actress. I was just 12 years old, when she played the role of Selina Kyle in Batman returns. & of course she's the best catwoman ever. None can compare with her. I hope that one day she will win an Oscar. MP is so beautiful & so talented, I love her!!!! ;-D
Catwoman is real. I understand. All these superheros are real esp Batman. No doubt whoever wrote the comics knows the truth. Long live Superman : ). We're so lucky that he's out there taking care of things along with his consort of course.
Michelle Pfeiffer is one of the hottest women of all time. She was the best to play Catwoman because she had it in her. In my opinion, she should have won an academy award for her role. My favorite part was one she says Meow, and the building explodes. Rrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr! :D
For starters Burton had full control over Batman Returns and I dont think he had any intentions of following what the comics were..Personally I think Pfeiffer Made catwoman more intresting and in my oppinion batman returns is a great batman film
@TheJokerVlogsSeries Sorry, but Tim Burton's Batman films were not Batman films, they were Tim Burton films with Batman in them. 'Batman' and 'Batman Returns' looked like Batman had stumbled onto the the sets of 'Beetlejuice' and 'The Nightmare Before Christmas.'
@jakelilman G'day to you too! A stupid comment is usually an unintelligent one with no basis for it. My comment was my opinion(which in this country everyone has the right to express) based on my knowledge of the comic books and my own dissatisfaction with how Hollywood has adapted them. My comment stands: Tim Burton's Batman films were surreal fantasies that barely resembled the comics. The Christopher Nolan films are the only ones thus far to come even close to the comics.
@44excalibur If you want the comics, read the comics, don't go to a film for them. Tim Burton's films always have certain recurring themes in them and Hollywood adapts material so it will SELL IN A FILM FORMAT to as wide an audience as possible whereas comic books cater to a niche market and are happy to do so.
This is a great film with well done characters; just because it doesnt fit with your elitist, comic-centric view of how Batman 'should' be, doesnt mean it is any less valid or good.
@mpenton1 Elitist, huh? That's a new one. Well, then, I guess Christopher Nolan is "elitist" as well, since he and screenwriter David Goyer took their screenplay for 'Batman Begins' and 'The Dark Knight' directly from the comic source material, such as 'Batman: Year One,' by Frank Miller, 'The Long Halloween,' by Jeoph Loeb, and 'The Killing Joke,' by Alan Moore. The result = the greatest comic book films ever made. And for 'The Dark Knight Rises,' Nolan will use 'Knightfall,' by Chuck Dixon.
@mpenton1 And as for Catwoman, Anne Hathaway's costume in 'The Dark Knight Rises' will also be "comic-centric," to use your words. A source from the film said,
“Anne’s outfit is more tactical, like the comic book, than the previous Batman movies,” “She will definitely be wearing the goggles and it’s going to be less sexy than Halle Berry and Michelle Pfeiffer’s Catwoman costumes. She’s going to look more like a robber.” See how effective catering to the so-called "niche market" can be? :)
@mpenton1 And let me ask you this question: Did Hollywood adapt 'The Giodfather,' 'The Lord Of The Rings,' and change them to "sell in a film format to as wide an audience as possible"? No, they stayed as true to the source material as possible, and the results speak for themselves. Comics deserve no less respectful treatment.
@44excalibur If you can't see the difference between LotR film version vs the books, then, quite frankly, you don't deserve eyes. Also, comics and literature are two very different media despite both being print.
@mpenton1 I see quite well, thank you, and I can see that Peter Jackson stayed far closer to the source material for LOTR than anyone in the Hollywood butcher-shop would have, insisting on doing three films instead on just one, or by not combining Rohan and Gondor into one city. And comics are and literature are most definithely similar, hence the term "graphic novel." Examples: Batman: The Dark Knight Returns and Batman: Year One, by Frank Miller. The Killing Joke and Watchmen by Alan Moore.
@mpenton1 It's people like you who don't give comics enough credit as literature, mostly because you know absolutely nothing about comics, and yet feel free to comment about things you know nothing about to someone who actually does know something about them. Fact: Nolan has stayed far closer to the source material than Burton did, and the results are the two best comic book movies of all time. End of story.
@44excalibur Comics arent literature though - if they were true literature, they'd be called so; i like to think of comics as graphic stories - i personally think the term graphic novel does true novels a disservice seeing as novels use mostly if not exclusively text to create a world/characters/atmosphere etc whereas a graphic novel uses pictures but less text; they are not the same as literature or books in the traditional sense of the word but tell a story nonetheless.
@mpenton1 and getting babk on the point of this original discussion, I know Nolan sticks to the source material much better than Burton did but Burton used Batman as an extension of a recurring theme in his themes that i refer to as macarbe (sp?) fairytale if you get my drift with that. What I'm saying is, it's no less valid as a result; this is a great film with great characters - just because it isnt as 'pure' doesnt mean its less worthy of the franchise.
@mpenton1 That's a very condescending thing to say. Regardless, the source material should be respected, which is what Christopher Nolan has done, at least as close as anyone has come. the further you stray form the source material, the more you get horrible movies like 'Batman & Robin'.
@44excalibur Won't disagree, B&R is pure pish. And there is nothing disrespectful about what I said - you just don't agree with it; disrespectful would have been me saying all graphic novels are shit and nothing to back it up with. Instead, I actually discussed why they arent the same as classic literature and how they tell a story differently; i never said they were worse, but different in their approach. Again, thats your elitism showing through.
@mpenton1 Methinks you doth protest too much with your constant use of the word "elitism." I'm merely relaying the position of the fan who wants the source material respected, no different from any other fandom. You just have a bias as to which source material is more worthy of respect than others.
@44excalibur I've used the term elitist twice (my apologies if i counted the number of usages wrongly), i'd recommend dropping your pretentious mate, it's not paricularly flattering. In terms of my respect for source material, its up to directors decide how to pursue a film and its creation; because it isnt a replica or to the T of the comic doesnt mean its not as good, it means its different and can actually bring something different & unique to the table and tell the story in a different way
@44excalibur again, i'll reiterate, if you want the comic and want the story to be like the comic, do yourself a favour and just read the comic and be happy with it; after all, a film is an individual interpretation of the material, it'll never satisfy everyone completely so make the best of the material at hand.
@mpenton1 Sorry, but that's not good enough. Comcs fans don't have to settle for people telling them to just "read the comic" without ever experiencing the joy of watching it fully realized onscreen. No one tells fans of novels "just read the novel and be happy" unless they want said novel thrown at them. Sooner or later someone come along and does the material justice. I'm just glad Nolan came along for Batman.
@mpenton1 Look, I apologize if it looks like I'm biting your head off. I didn't mean to. I'm tired of seeing Hollywood make so many lousy comic book films by trying to sell to "as wide an audience as possible." When you try too hard to compromise and please everyone, the results are usually disappointing and mediocre. Look what happened to The Green Lantern and Spider Man 3. If you like Burton's films that's fine, but I'm just glad that Hathaway's Catwoman will be more faithful to the comics.
I agree she has been the best, can't wait for teh new hanne hathaway role as catwoman, tim burton has always made teh movies comic like, but on the new batman movies teh dark knight is turning a bit darker and darker specially with the last movie with the joker it was just crazy, now just imagine in the newest movie how hatthaway will be shown. by the way catwoman is a zombie so I guess i all of the sudden find zombies very attractive and hot.
@guardianjuan I read the Batman comics and Burton's films are nothing like the comics. Burton's films are more cartoonish and surreal, and not grounded at all in the reality of the comics. The Selina Kyle from the comics trained for years to become Catwoman. It didn't happen magically overnight like in Burton's movie.
Damn right, i've always had a crush on Michelle since i was 4 when i saw Ladyhawke in theaters and loved her even as Selina Kyle and Catwoman when i was 11 seeing this movie 4 times in theaters

I love Michelle Pfeiffer as Catwoman. She looks hot but also dangerous, Hale Berry was just a sexy kitty (i like her so much, but Michelle wins).
And i don't like Anne Hathaway for this...her roles are always good naive girls, i just can't imagine her as Catwoman.
