I love classical music. And this. Love it or leave it. KJ is a beautiful plus in a world of minuses. You are free to enjoy, or blast off, and we won't miss you.
they both sing this really well but i heard two girls in my school sing this song about a month ago and they were at least twice as good as how this sounded no offence meant but i feel this song is too much at the two extremes with these two
He sure lowered himself to deign to sing with this popera tart who trills on every note (LOL). Nice guy, but I suspect he got paid a lot. Otherwise I doubt he'd ever lend his voice to a farce like this.
Thanks for your comments, Steve :) Especially seeing that Placido Domingo has invited Katherine to study with him shows that some people in this discussion have lost the plot completely.
While Katherine has said time & again that she is in training and not an opera singer, she loves the genre! She also said time and again that opera is full of snobs and she hopes to change that! Obviously she knows what she is talking about per Operaphile & others. Think of Katherine in her Margum Park performance lifting up the hem of this gown here, and revealing her PINK "Wellies" (farm boots) with KJ in rhinestones; the polar opposite of some of you dignified snobs!
I am also from Peru and of couse Juan Diego is an excelent opera's singer. I hear all time to Katherine Jenkins. For me, she is the best woman singer. I like her music "I who have nothing", but this song (from Louis Armstrong)was good.
I am from Peru i don´t know very much about classic music but I like this song and this is the first time I have heard about Katherine Jenkins but I know who is Juan Diego Florez, we are proud of him . A very good song by two wonderful voices. thanks Lilian
You All Need To Get A Grip She Has Never Once Said She Is An Opera Singer She Actually Tells Everyone Shes Not....So Why Are You All making out like she is pretending to be something shes not!!
Peculiarly, people keep telling us that Katherine is not an opera singer, while she herself has consistently maintained that she isn't an opera singer. So I don't know why you should criticise her for that! By the way, she has sung without a microphone at the Mariinski Theatre in St. Petersburgh, and twice she has been invited by Placido Domingo to a guest performance at his concerts. Looks like at least some opera aingers recognise that she has talent. Some of you may not like her, some do.
And that has nothing to do with his comment. Its his opinion. And what point are you trying to make when he statement says above the same thing you do. Why is it peculiar, "people keep telling us..." He never criticized her for any part of that aspect he just commented on her vibrato, which is not that great here.
Katherine Jenkins is NOT an opera singer. She has a horrible beat in her vibrato. Just because she's pretty and attempts to sing opera arias on CDs doesn't make her any good. JDF probably agreed to sing at the gig because he likes the cause. The day when Katherine Jenkins steps on an opera house stage to sing a stage role and is critiqued by her peers, then we can call her an opera singer. Until then she remains a "crossover" singer supported by a good marketing machine.

Have you two gits ever stepped foot into an opera house? Take away the microphone from Katherine Jenkins and you have left is a pretty American Idol contestant. Have you ever wondered why she is never cast at any major opera house? So get off your high horse and get real. She may have a pleasant voice, but so does Celine Dion. An opera singer she is not!
Yes I have. And as Katherine repeats again, again, again and again, she is not an Opera singer. She is a classically trained Mezzo Soprano who is still under training. And the argument wasn't about whether she was an Opera singer or not, but about your use of the word 'cheapen'. Stay with the plot.

THe only reason he sings with her is that there is more money in crossover than in classical opera. You still have so much to learn Classicalrelated, but don't lose hope, one day you'll grow up and become an adult. It's not hopeless for you.
What an offensive and ridiculous statement. Do you really believe your statement or are you simply parroting some ridiculous elitism you picked up from idiots? Try listening to Katherine Jenkins - and opening your eyes . . .

Katherine has stated many times that it is common knowledge that a mezzo-soprano's voice doesn't mature until her early 30s, and she is waiting for that until she attempts to perform an opera, which is something she has always wanted to do.
Now, her vibrato has really gone out of whack these past years. I hope she gets control of it...
Bravo! Saludos desde Perú.

I saw Natasha Marsh singing Morning Has Broken, and linked here from that. I thought it was her. Wonderful singing but that vibrato is terrible.

Hi Lilian,
Many thanks for your reaction. I hope you like Katherine Jenkins as much as your countryman Juan Diege Florez.
Please be assured that whenever possible I will publice Juan Diego Florez at my Katherine-Jenkins-International website ;).

It cheapens Juan Diego Florez to be singing with Katherine Jenkins.
chsilber 3 years ago
You've got it all wrong chsilber. The fact that Florez was willing to sing with Jenkins indicates that he doesn't in any way feel cheapened.
You are the only cheap person around here.
Thanks for your enlightening comments, they are much appreciated.
Just as well there are quite a lot of people who have a more expensive sense of taste.
Cheers
