You're right aswell. If they found the note, it wouldn't PROVE that he robbed the bank. It's what is called circumstantial evidence. But that's PRETTY STRONG circumstantial evidence...to be suspected of robbing a bank and getting caught with a ransom note on you. The thing about eating it is that you can't see what was on the note...he can say it was anything in a court of law and that COULD be just as believable as a cop saying it was a ransom note.
