I'm 17 and I wasn't born in the u.s. I came here when I was 6. I'm not a resident or a citizen. But my moms biological dad is an American Citizen and served in the Air Force . I'm determined on joining the Marine Corps. because I love my country and everything it has given me. Any advice for me? I would really appreciate it.

i have a question i have a friend that went into boot camp and was wondering when will they be able to write and what is going on the frist week if you cant answer that then thats fine :)

@2livelikeyourdying21 Usually they start writting letters around the third week. BUT every company is different so it may be sooner or later. And during the first month, its when they really start to break you down. Where they test you and see what you are made of. it was the best worst month of my life. =D

what rank do you need to be to get a sword?

@WRDISBOND just word from the wise: never use the term "sword" in the military. Its called a Saber and you use it during ceremonies.

@WRDISBOND You get your NCO Sword or Saber when you become a Non commissioned officer... for example CPL and up.

what's up Cpl I hit my one year mark this up coming Valentine's Day I was wondering when I could switch up my MOS ( right now I'm a 3043 Supply Clerk) I'm just not that into it, If you could reply asap that would be greatly appreciated thank you.

@letsgopawty i was in the same spot you are right now a couple years ago. You can switch MOS after being two years in your MOS. The Marine Corps doesnt want to spend a lot of money and letting all that training go to waste. lSo after being in two years in your MOS then you can LAT move to a different one. But there are times when you might have to extend or reenlist, depending on the MOS you want.

@cmoshier77 When i was stationed at MCAS Miramar i talked to a lance corporal who was some kind of crew member on a helicopter. I dont remember exactly what it was since it was 2 years ago, but i know i was really jealous. haha. so yes man you just need to be really lucky and or know what to do in order to get it.

@Ryan24Mathews yes, as long as you are not still smoking it you should be fine... unless you were caught selling drugs i think that will be a bit harder to get a waiver for. some people dont even bring it up... haha but ask your recruiter
