  • I wonder if mixing extra gluten or gelatine or starch (or something else) with normal (405) wheat flour would make a substitute for the rice flour.

  • @8zf How about grinding up some rise? :)

  • @PlainSeason I did consider that, but buying an electric mill just for that seems overkill. Plus I don't know how much noise these things make.:/ I take you have experience with grinding rice?

  • Thanks for this recipy, I bought rice flour today to make this, but I have a question:

    Is 200g really enough?

because I used 200g flour and 200ml water and it became a sticky mess, sticking all over my fingers, I had to add at least another 100g before it was even close to yours.

    its steaming right now :)

  • can you do this with simple rice flour? there´s no way i can find joshinko, since i don´t have any asian market in my city:D

  • @kiky90

I make it with normal rice flour and it's still really good. Look in tthe spanish section of the international aisle and it'll be there. I use Goya, cuz I trust that brand.

  • ne, im just curious... why do you need to cut the dough into pieces before steaming if you're gonna mix them again later?

  • @joyuedalove smaller portions cook faster so if u steam them when its whole it will take more then 25 minutes 2 cook

  • XDDDDD i love this guy

  • Thanks for the steaming method! Do you think this method will work on other recipes?

  • Thanks for the steaming method! I will try this on my dango. Does the steaming method work on other recipes?

  • lol you're so cute, your accent and personality is adorable and you can cook! awesome

  • 1. Do I get this stuff from the Asian markets?

    2. Do I have to put the dango thing on a stick?

    3. Can I use food coloring? If so, when/how do I use it?

  • @1lucariolover

1:) Yes, you can get the ingredients from Asian markets. The rice flour is the only thing I doubt you can't get too easily from a non asian market. You can substitute Joshinko with another rice flour. You can also order online.

2.) No, but it easier to eat in my opinion.

3.) Yes, you can use food coloring. You add it when you're mixing the dough before you make it into round balls(before u cook). Add about one drop per 3 dango. Feel free to use less/more.

    --Peace

  • @FreddieTheOnlyOne awww I miss Clannad.

  • THANK YOU FOR THE ALTERNATIVE WAY TO STEAM THEM I just saw a soipao or something recipe but I dont know how to use the steamer like they show it..

  • I think I'm always under cooking mine. This is the second or third time I've made dango and it tastes like nasty uncooked dough. :< I boil instead of steam, but I've heard boiling works fine too. I'm about ready to try again and this time over cook it just so it doesn't taste like dough :< - Is there something I'm doing wrong? Also, corn starch makes the sauce nasty and it didn't thicken at all, just had clumpy cornstarch in it :<

  • if you use brown rice flour is the taste different?

  • i put too much water it think. im pretty confused about the measurement hahaa its steaming in my rice cooker right now. fingers crossed v.v

  • is it normal to be really sticky should i add more flour

  • can I use tapioca starch?

  • Really hard to make

  • @heldDdpower REALLY HARD , im making it right now for the 2nd time , it looks beter than last time , but not exactly as his , the last time it was just a piece of *** xD Good luck in making it

  • So the dango are meant to have a slightly doughy consistency when done?

  • I'm going to make this for my art club <3 I'm sure they will love it!
