@lilmamaakatrina - don't give up! Rice flour can be very forgiving. I recommend you check out cooking segments from Maangchi, she shows how to "steam" rice dough in the microwave. Hope this helps!

3.) Yes, you can use food coloring. You add it when you're mixing the dough before you make it into round balls(before u cook). Add about one drop per 3 dango. Feel free to use less/more.

I think I'm always under cooking mine. This is the second or third time I've made dango and it tastes like nasty uncooked dough. :< I boil instead of steam, but I've heard boiling works fine too. I'm about ready to try again and this time over cook it just so it doesn't taste like dough :< - Is there something I'm doing wrong? Also, corn starch makes the sauce nasty and it didn't thicken at all, just had clumpy cornstarch in it :<
