I am a little puzzled how a traditional Maori dish has lamb, pork, and chicken in it. All those animals would have been introduced by the British colonial settlers, and unknown by the Maoris before that time. Maybe those meats are substitutes for the original animals that are now extinct. I am really enjoying these travel vlogs and so is my pal that I send the links to, even though he normally hates YouTube.

@epayne6 The Zorb with the water in it kind of makes you stay in one spot, but if you did the dry Zorb it would have made you tumblr around :) The water stays in the bottom (if you could say there is a bottom) of the Zorb and when you sit in it, you stay with the water, so you don't really tumblr around :)

Two questions - What prevents you from falling out of the hole in the zorb while your rolling down hill? And, were there brakes on the luges? Just curious.

@dspid2404 There are breaks in the Luges. and the is a kind of door in the zorbs

@dspid2404 Yes there are brakes. With the handle bars, you pull them back to accelerate and push them forwards to brake :) There is a thick, rubber like material block that helps the luge stop :) There is a little kind of curtain made of plastic that acts as a door in the Zorb to prevent people from tumbling out :) Hope this helped :)

@supremeon1 They do also have thermal pools but not very many in other places of New Zealand :) The only caution is it may get too hot and act as though it is boiling water :) Sorry for answering something you were asking Nadine, I just live in New Zealand so thought it might help :)

@trstmeimadctr The way of cooking the food makes it native. They cook it undergroung using the steam from hot rocks, once the english came to New Zealand thats when they added the english Ingredients.

@trstmeimadctr It's native not so much for the ingredients but for how we cook it. It's special because we cook it under ground and use the earth's natural heat to cook the food instead of electricity. It's been done that way for many years, making it "traditional" I guess :)

Nadine most likely got the other kind of Hangi that is done by cooking the food in the hot geothermal waters. and not the kind done by putting the food underground!

I'm surprised you did not mention how a Hangi is cooked. For those that do not know the food is wrapped up and then placed in a pit on hot stones & ash that have been heated by a big bonfire. The food is then covered over and berried for a few hours. This basically steams and pressure-cooks the food. The food has a slight smoky BBQ flavor to it.
