It is not the "Israeli version" of the F-15. It's a normal American F-15 like all other F-15's. This one just happens to be one flown by the Israeli airforce.

McDonnel Douglas was right. The pilot had put on the afterburners, so the place was almost like a cruise missile.

Had he been going at slower speeds, there would not have been enough lift on the lower surface of the body and remaining wing and the plane would have surely crashed.

So its not necessarily that the plane is so amazing. The fast speed gave lift to the wide body of the plane.

They based Pixy off of this story =P Gotta love Thrust to weight ratio's of 1+. The F-15 is such a powerful plane, that the amount of thrust is pounds it's engines produce exceed it's weight. That's how it can climb vertically for extended periods of time, as well as fly with one wing. Hypothetically, a clean F-16 should be capable of this as well, with much less effort needed on the pilots behalf thanks to the Fly By Wire system
