  • Go to your search engine and type Gilbert and Sullivan archive. It is a university sponsored site. For some reason, the link cannot be posted here. I do not know enough about YouTube to know how to send you a reply directly. Otherwise, I could just send you the link. The work is public domain. I have no personal interest in it at all.

  • You can download this song and all of Gilbert and Sullivan's scripts, music, music files and lyrics at the Gilbert and Sullivan online Archive. It is easy to find, and a marvelous resource.

  • Where?

  • What happened to "Away to the cheating world go you. Where pirates all are well to do."

that was a good part. This is the best recording of the song i can find! nice(the only musical i dont hate too!)

  • It's at 0:27

  • i cant belive i missed that. thanks

  • it's around 0:30 seconds into the song... complete with lyrics

  • To KingZeox, I believe that all Gilbert and Sullivan's plays/musicals where allowed to be rewritten to included more modern lyrics mainly to keep them up to date politically and one of the reasons G&S plays have survived the test of time. Throughout the life span of the plays the chances of hearing two exact plays the same from different companies is very small.

  • To add to that. One of the more modern renditions of the Pirates of Penzance is the 80s movie The pirate movie, Which is well worth a look to see how the story is same but plays to more modern day and younger ordinance.

  • how did you get all that from me missing a lyric? and i'm aware of that stuff, i just couldn't find the audio for this song anywhere else that was the original song.

  • Funny song! ^^

  • Where can I download this song? I can't find it anywhere!

  • Got to say, I think I like the movie version better. The faster pace is, IMHO, more suited to a pirate and he sounds more passionate about his role. It's also a little more to sing along and there is no better line I know of than "Women yield and the ships go down. Or is it the other way around?" *giggle*

  • a girl plays this part in our version.. bcos its an all girls school but she is amazing!

  • I sang this song and played a punkish version of this on electric guitar for a presentation on POP for a University English class. Easily my proudest moment :).

  • capitol idea!

  • HOPE I GET THE PART :P
