Actually, I am an atheist who cares about people. You clearly don't since you think it's okay to send people to Costa Rica where they then try to convince others of their "God." It's so simple - offer the help and give the people of Costa Rica a helping hand with particular things, but leave the Gospel at home. It's not necessary at all and I find it baffling that people waste their time with it in the first place. If Costan Ricans don't practice Christianity, leave it alone. That's their right.
You are grinding your axe with Jesus, as He directly commands you to "Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature". Jesus is and was an extremist and He is very clear about getting the good news of His message to every human being in the world. I cannot for the life of me, even figure out what mindset you are coming from with your statements. I guess I'm assuming that you know Jesus personally, and I'm assuming that you read the bible and follow it's commands?? I'm stumped.
I definitely have no "axe to grind with Jesus." I have no problem with trips to other countries in order to help children and adults alike with basic needs, but you have no right in the world to attempt to teach non-believers about the "Gospel." You're ruining culture and it's extremely sad. I feel bad for those who feel the need to go "preach" to others who have their own religion and spirituality (or no religion), especially the youth and teenagers. It's a very crazy world in which we live.
You clearly have an axe to grind with Jesus who commanded ALL believers to go into all the nations and preach the gospel. You will have to take this one up with Him. These people are clearly just obeying God's Word and changing lives through God's love. "Leave the Costa Rican's alone"? Man, there will be a day that you will be thankful that God didn't leave you alone!
Why do Christians insist on ruining other cultures to fulfill their own selfish desires? It's beyond baffling to me. Leave the Costa Ricans alone. Mission trips are nothing short of disasters and I am sure this one was just another example.
