i dont want it too sweet.....is it really sweet with all that sugar can i cut down on the sugar? makeing this for bf and he doesnt like over sweet things
@ShinjuHoshi - Thank you for your question. Unfortunately, the nature of macarons is that they are made with a fair amount of sugar. The entrie structure changes when you reduce the sugar. If your boyfriend doesn't like sweets, this isn't the treat to make for him.
@suchatnut - thank you for your questions. I have a convection oven. As for temperature and time, I don't recall exactly what they were. Since it has been more than a year and I made three different attempts at baking macarons, I used three different recipes, too!
can i have the recipe that you used for this? I've been trying to make macarons (using the French method) here in Manila but they've been epic failures. It's either the feet didn't come out or they were too small that they didn't stand out. And do you have any tips as well? thanks in advance :)
Great video! Have some things for you to try .... Powdered food coloring so you don't add more moisture and to open the door a couple of times during the cooking process to let the steam out while baking. Also keep in mind the number of cookies in the oven at one time will mess with time, temp. and moisture while cooking. Hope this helps if you ever decide to spend a day cooking in the rain.
Great work!. I've tried making them many times before and have been quite successful after a few failures. The only reason your macarons looked runny was because of overmixing i.e. you added colouring only after you incorporated the italian meringue. Next time try adding the colouring into the almond-sugar-eggwhite mixture and THEN adding the meringue gradually. You colour will be even and you wont have to overmix
Congratulations! This is a nice video, your mother-in-law (?)is very cute and your macaron looks yummy!. Is the weather there humid? Here in Florida is sometimes impossible to work with merengue because of the humid weather,
Yes, the humidity really is a problem. I end up having to run all the air conditioners in the house for some time beforehand to make sure the house is relatively dry. Even then it doesn't always work! Thanks for your comment.
Oh very nice macarons!!! I.m amazed that being in Thailand you did good good with all the humidity. I live in Florida and I have to wait till december to bake anything with merengue. Congratulations this video is nice, your voice is vey soothing and your mother-in-law (I guess?) is really cute!
I tried to make some for the second time yesterday and I think my biggest problem is when to stop whisking the meringue. Yours looks lovely though! Mine came out like dog biscuits :p
They look great for a second try. I've been trying to perfect them for weeks. You did well considering that Thailand is a very humid country, I used to live there myself in Pattaya.

Good tutorial :) We appreciate the attention to detail for beginners, like checking the skin after setting. Other videos weren't as helpful!
I love Thailand! But don't complain too much about the Thai humidity, as we are suffering in the wet Irish weather!! ;)
Keep up the good work!

I think you had too much liquid incorporated, which led the dough to be too runny.
