What are you guys talking about these, "slots"? the China Airways A340 had to go around due to crosswinds, didn't you see it jolt like a Buck? Plus all airlines have no "slots" it's like a first-come-first-serve kinda deal. If a plane is taking off, and there's another one holding short of runway, while there's one landing but not on final, then the guy landing lands, as the one guy takes off, and the guy holding short waits.

Wow...got lifted off like a kite! What are the costs of performing a go-around? What about the allocated slots each airline has, especially on such a busy airport? Does the airline have to pay for having landed at another slot?

What slot? There is no such thing as 'slot', it's a gate. The only cost is the extra fuel used (other than passengers knocking at your door and asking why they were 15 minutes late ;-) ). No aircraft will park at that gate at that time; but other flights might get a slight delay if the airport is very busy.
