@SiberianGinseng I agree. If there is a standard MIDI connection on this, as opposed to USB, I can purchase a WIDI system & use any external module I choose.

standard Akai EWI is better than this...you can use USB EWI only with Aria software...too limited

That's not right. The EWI USB is a MIDI instrument, so you can use it like the "standard" EWI, with every sound you like... for example... I use it with Logic Pro. But the EWI USB has got less octave rollers than the EWI 4000s.

@BergaEWI NOT TRUE, you can use Akai EWI with any VST you want, it is a Midi Controller

maybe i check for use with Reason there's a lot of parameter to do wind breath midi message in the virtual synth and sampler.

I just bought one from Patchman Music. Matt modded and pre-calibrated it so it was ready to play right out of the box. This is a great EWI just make sure your computer is compatible with the software.

Excuse my ignorance (I'm French, terrible disease...), what exactly do you mean by "modded and pre-calibrated"?

Moreover, how can I make sure my pc is compatible with the software?

Finally, would you recommend this as a first instrument? I'm a bass player, my only breath experience lies in some recorder/tin whistle playing.
