Wow, I must have watched that opening hundreds of times, but I'm sure I've never heard this song before. I watched the show for ages as a kid before I realised Vicki wasn't a girl. He should have been called Victor.
This was a Japanese show originally. Although anyone who saw it in other countries were probably surprised by that; the character designs are very un-Japanese like.
@bakertoons Technically the show was some sort of German-Japanese co-production from what I know of it, and certainly one of those were perhaps the designs were western initially assuming how much creative control there was on either side of the globe.
0:54 - 0:57, the stars shine like day, and our friends are all gay. ?!?!. No wonder Vicky was so welcome aboard that viking ship on those long voyages!.
This was the English theme-tune for the early episodes; and it's so wonderful! For the later episodes, some moron replaced it with the awful, annoying "Hey hey Vicky, hey Vicky hey..." presumably to conform to the rest of Europe.
@battywattywoo Which was awesome in the original German version, Which you wouldn't know about. The Song rocks, the English singers are just tone deaf.
This is one of the main things that inspired the creator of One Piece~ It looks so cute! lol And their ship kinda looks like Shank's ship~ Very nice~

There were two versions in English, this one and the earlier and much better "hey Vickey hey" version.

I drew a picture of Vicky and put a lot of stick-on stars around it - Dad thinks he looks like the Gherkin in London!

The earlier series had the proper rock song titles in English, I remember them adding this theme years later when they repeated the cartoon.

That should not disturb you, but how much met did the producers drank before they made such a grap...
ok, the japanese opening is not really good... but "hei ho"??? that remembers me of snow white, not of wickie...
