  • Wonderful to see american icon, Lucille Ball out of her element & in with the Mods of London. Very amusing indeed......

  • Lucy and Twiggy?

  • This is fun...what's it from? Movie? T.V. show?

  • @bettyfelon1 , it's from an hour-long 1966 special called "Lucy in London" and it will be included in the "The Lucy Show" Season Five DVD set that will be released on December 6.

  • @Beejjjjjj Cool

  • Desilu filmed Lucy in London which showcased Lucille Ball in a 60's "mod" setting. Lucy in real life had a terrific figure and was a former Ziegfield showgirl, and I am glad we got a chance to see this "other" Lucy.

  • This vid is awesome!

  • This made my MONTH! Thanks so much

  • She gave me my First Producing job on LUCY IN LONDON and she did soo many favors for me, she was like a second Mom !! I will always remember her kindness, and thanks for remembering her! David Winters

  • She was the best, never to be replaced.

  • Happy Birthday! :)

  • I love Lucy!

  • give her all credit-she did it all -like bette davis-she did it the hard way--she learnt her craft from the mgm studios and those comedy greats around her-actor singer producer-owner of her own studios-she got it right in her second last show in heres lucy with gale gordon--with the passing of these greats--there are no replacements--it was a magical time-that was real hollywood-

  • I'm a huge Lucy fan & I think this is awesome!!!

  • Holy cow, this is SO 1960's ! LOL. Checkered miniskirts, etc.

Of course, Lucy hams it up, all in fun. Cool.

  • I cant believe I'm related to that woman

  • LMAO! This is great. Lucy in a real 60s music video. Gotta save this. Too damned cool.

Unexpected. But nice. Thanks for posting this. Had never seen this. Ownderful stuff.

  • I love this vid everytime I watch it!

  • This is just too trippy. I'm speechlesss.

  • I love seeing shots of Lucy without that damn helmet hair.

  • I remember now. I was a kid and watching this on TV when it first aired. I can't believe it!

  • I remember seeing this I believe. Wasn't where she go a weekend in London!

  • Is it me or did I just see Twiggy at 1:55? Lol this is funny.

  • Yay, thats my cousin! well, my grandfathers cousin! GREAT!:) loveeeeee it

  • this is my 3rd time watching it. it's a fave in my folder...is anyone going to transfer this to dvd. i'd pay money 4 it...or in free donuts.lol..merry xmas everyone!

  • Sooo so Mod! I see a link between the Gaga thing and the Mod thing.

  • I adore her. One of the greats.

  • this is spectacular.

  • Hard to believe this is the same Lucille Ball from I Love Lucy a decade earlier.

  • Boy, this is one that I've never seen before. This is a pretty neat video! The Lucy character is, always, fun! It seems like I've been watching repeats of her shows forever...

  • @TracyAndersonFoxhunt Really? then why is it that 50 years after her show ended, her name is still recognizeable all over the world? She was a clown--that's what she was good at, and its what she wanted to be known for.

  • @vanessafabulay shitfuck, you just said what i said.so... REALLY!!!!!

  • @TracyAndersonFoxhunt Well I guess I said it a little less foolishly than you did. You should do a little more research--she was a model, actress and comedian. And loved by a whole lot more people than you ever will be. Sorry.

  • @TracyAndersonFoxhunt Oh my--what a nasty littte girl you are!

  • @vanessafabulay , me thinks TracyAndersonFoxhunt is the same person as that nutcase TracyTerry who posted identical crap before getting booted off Youtube awhile back. Same person, new handle. Obviously still as pathetic as before, desperately seeking attention. It must be sad to be such an attention-starved loser who will never amount to anything, and is so jealous of Lucy's fame and success that they have to stoop to these desperate little rants.

  • I DIG It Man!! grooovvyy!.. where did this come from?? i must tell my friends in the G*&% bars they use should play this at happy hour.

  • Yes it is!

  • Lovely videoclip

  • They've done some ballet and Chaplin for her!

  • One thing I loved about her is how she'd do anything!! Like whatother "older audience" star would try to appeal to teens by dressing up in these "far-out clothes" and dancing like she was and singing (Deffinately not Andy Griffith, Frances Baivier Eva Gabor) although Liz Montgomery from Bewitched did often. Like she did in the first episode of Here's Lucy. She always appealed to everyone and that's why she lasted so long.

  • Remember when Vivian Vance came to visit her on a show around 1967, and the two of them got involved in some scheme that required their visiting the Sunset Strip dressed as hippies? They both must have been around 56 or 57 at the time, but it was pretty funny.

  • I've always been a big Lucy fane, but MY this was corny!

  • @broadjumper1 , and MY you're rude.

  • @Beejjjjjj - Nothing rude about it. I'm sure even Lucy would admit that not everything she did was a gem. I said nothing negative about her or that denigrates her talent, I simply said the clip was corny. Sorry that as a fan you're apparently so thin-skinned that you can't accept a honest critique, especially when it wasn't about YOU.

  • @broadjumper1 , maybe your parents didn't teach you good manners. There's an old expression, if you haven't got anything nice to say, don't say anything. This video was put here for fans to enjoy. If you don't like it, zip it up and go away.

  • @Beejjjjjj - Wow, could you really be wound so tight that you let my innocuous comment really spoil your day? Perhaps it would be best for all concerned if you focused on removing that rather large stick from your behind instead of worrying about my upbringing or offhanded remarks. And if you think I'm rude, one can only wonder how you'd describe your behavior. There's another old expression, "People who live is glass houses..."

  • @broadjumper1 , talk about thin skinned. LOL!

  • @Beejjjjjj - Me? nah, I'm not the one who's in here whining about someone calling a Lucy video "corny"...

Only now I believe you're thin-skinned AND a couple tacos short of a combo plate...

  • @broadjumper1, BWAHAHAHA! Whining and thin-skinned? Check the length of your comments compared to mine. All I said was that you were rude. And you were. ;)

  • @Beejjjjjj - And I was right, the video was corny, you're just pissy that somebody was honest enough to admit it. Do us all a favor a get back on your meds Sally.

  • @broadjumper1, pissy, me? Hahaha! You're cracking me up. Seems like you ought to invest in a mirror. LOL!

  • @Beejjjjjj - Yeah, you. And baby, you're already cracked, you can't blame that one on me...

  • @broadjumper1 If you're hoping to be a comic, don't quit your day job! Hahaha!

  • @broadjumper1 , damn, shut up already dumbass.

  • @vieetverite - dumbass? Your momma ain't here...it's you who's choosing to bring up a two week old argument, so how smart could you be?

Try to learn to accept opinions that differ from your own without making personal attacks, that only makes you look like a petluant child...

  • @broadjumper1 , "it's you who's choosing to bring up a two week old argument, so how smart could you be?"

LOL! And it's you who can't resist responding to anything posted with respect to this "two week old argument," so how smart can YOU be? Dumbass.

  • @vieetverite - Hardly dumbass, 'cause nothing you've posted has anything to do with the original comment, you're simply arguing over the last word now. I know how important small victories are to people of such limited intellect like yourself so by all means, the last word is yours...besides, you've already bored the hell out of me and it still doesn't change the fact that this video was corny...

  • @broadjumper1 , LOLOLOLOL! Besides dumbass, I should add hypocrite. You type a whole paragraph about how I'm trying to get in the last word. Then what exactly are you doing . . . . dumbass?

  • I don't think there's anything "rude" about expressing a heartfelt opinion.

  • @broadjumper1, asshole.

  • @rachelazw - Ah, you kiss Lucy's ass with that mouth?

  • that's twiggy at 1:55

  • Why are the coolest things (and some of the rarest) loaded up by people who've not a clue? This 'pop' video is a song produced by Mr. Phil Spector ( THAT Phil Spector), with the whole WALL OF SOUND Wrecking Crew, and vocals by Dave Clark. For Spector-philes, this is a rare treat!

  • @uszoninyc, can you not see "Spector" and "Dave Clark" in the tags to this video?

  • she looks beautiful as she always did! my favorite is that long hair!

  • The Official Second Season of Lucille Ball's second series The Lucy Show, is coming to DVD on July 13, 2010! If you haven't seen the Lucy show it is so funny! And the second season co-stars Vivian Vance(Ethel)! Also it's in Color!

  • I Lov Lucy!!! She is my favorite actress and the best comedian!!!!!!!!

  • GAYYY

  • i saw this as a kid it was done from a special of lucy in london.

  • was this part of the lucy show?

  • yes all Chrissie Shrimpton, Twiggy, Jenny Boyd, and Samantha Juste are in this video!

  • When i see anything from the '60s i feel like i am seeing it on LSD. so psychadellic

  • commerialism.

  • Lucy should have had The Beatles in this..I wish Viv would have been with her.

  • Considering the fact she was in her mid 50s when she did this ,she looked stunning, she was awesome in this ,Lucy really did it all !Awesome!

  • I Love Lucy!!

  • omg twiggy is in it too

  • i didn't see her da first time but then i saw it again!!

  • Lucy was awesome!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Now how cool is this! lucy can do it all!

  • "lucy's in london...bridges are fallin' down..."

  • This is part of the Television special for the Lucy Show, Lucy in London. Phil Spector did the music. They filmed it on location in London, and It didn't have very good reviews. I hav to admit, even though I love Lucy, it was pretty bad!

  • I disagree. I love this special. She dared to do something that was very different from what viewers expected. Looking back, it was a little ahead of its time, and more innovative than anything she ever did.

  • I love it but I also think it's low level considering what she CAN do. Also they just did this because they thought it would fit in with the british invasion but Lucy just wasn't that.

  • video's silly but Lucy's giving me one!

  • @diddymuck haha that's how i feel...

  • This is so cool. I didn't know Lucy did a music video. Also it looks like one of the girls in the video is Twiggy! I love her too

  • This is sooo interesting. Let me tell you, I am a huge fan but never knew she did this video. I love Lucy!!!

  • Ricky Loves Lucy too

  • This is AWESOME! I love Lucille Ball! My favorite part is when she has the sunglasses on and is looking at the camera. Awesome!

  • My best is a mod and she's a huge Lucy fan. Right now she lives up in Alaska and misses the L.A. scene. I sent her this vid and it made her cry, she loved it a lot!

  • yeh thats defo shot in london..hyde park features a lot..lucy probably was in one of the best hotels getting pissed all day..lol

  • i love lucy

  • This is Tony Newley - one of the most underated composers/performers. Re: Sandibeche comment - they drove past my house (The Pheasantry) where I was living at the time - but I didn't see me in the Kings Road. It was great then but the road could be anywhere now. Corporate companies moved in. Lucy goes into Mary Quant's boutique.

  • Oh,This is too funny!Lucy goes MOD?NO WAY!LOL

  • It would be interesting to know if any of the people that appeared in this video not only remember it but would come forward and say, "yes that was me 40 years ago". Just a thought.

  • Produced and sung by Phil Spector and featuring L. A.'s finest session players, 'The Wrecking Crew'. The powerful, atmospheric sound of this music track is credited to Hollywood's legendary GOLD STAR STUDIO and it's unique, living and breathing echo chamber. Many wonderful sounds came out of that studio which stood on the southeast corner of Santa Monica Blvd. at Vine and sadly, burned to the ground in 1985.

  • The Wrecking Crew played for everyone, even the Partridge Family recordings, Monkees, Mamas & the Papas, etc. Their professional sound was on almost every recording there was. How long did the originals work making all the professional recordings for bands...up to the 90s?

  • Lucille Ball looks great here.

  • No, you only did this because you're a stupid asshole.

  • i luv this music vid of Lucy! she looks awesome!!!

  • Phil Spector has been convicted of murder.

  • I like it!. And Lucille Ball is there. More good.

    Watch my videos.

  • haha great! She looks amazing loved it!!!!!=)

  • Great to see this Lucy special.

    This tv show-

    The 'Time'Magazine cover/article-

'England Swings'by Roger Miller.Three catalysts for the 1966 American media creation: Swingin'London!!!.Good times!.

  • Actually, there may also be several others even before that which can lay claim to being "the first pop and/or rock music video," even though they were called "promos" in those days.

One example is the 1956 film "The Girl Can't Help It," ostensibly an extended rock video, with a comical storyline (starring Tom Ewell & Jayne Mansfield) woven through, incorporating disconnected musical sequences featuring Eddie Cochran, Fats Domino, Little Richard, and Gene Vincent & The Blue Caps among others.

  • As for this musical sequence from the "Lucy In London" TV special being "the prototype for the modern music video," Ricky Nelson's promo film for his hit "Travelin' Man" aired on TV in a 1961 episode of his family's sitcom, "The Adventures Of Ozzie & Harriet," and therefore predates this by five years as a clear progenitor of the music video genre.

  • Lucy had done a set-up episode on "The Lucy Show" the week before this special aired. Titled "Lucy Goes To London," the episode was about her character ("Lucy Carmichael") winning a trip to London in a contest, finding herself on the same airplane with banker boss "Mr. Mooney," who was going there on a business trip.

That set-up episode was ostensibly about Lucy's fear of flying, and allowed for typical Lucy hijinks/slapstick in the airplane scenes.

  • Lucy had made a deal to do three specials for CBS, and this one was originally supposed to be shot in France. But complication ensued with the French government and the locale was switched to London.

Also, originally, Laurence Olivier was to have co-starred in the special along with Anthony Newley. The Dave Clark Five were added later, presumably, to give the show some added ratings cache with the younger demographic.

  • That's Phil Spector singing - he produced it, but it never came out on record.

  • The slow-mo is my fave part..

  • Does anyone know the history of this video? Like why was it made. It's wild awesome

  • This is from a 1966 Lucille Ball special, "Lucy in London," about a trip Lucy Carmichael makes to England after winning a contest.

  • Far out! Thanks for posting.

  • AWESOME!! I never saw this. Thanks for posting.

  • Love the Dave Clark Five!

  • lucy in a mini skirt..loved it!

  • Patti Boyd in the purple trousers also.

  • wow it was awesome

  • that was wonderful! she always was up with the times!! and gorgeous too!!

  • Is there any way to get the whole "Lucy in London" special on DVD or even VHS?

  • Wow, what a time capsule--of the commercialization of Swinging London if not the original phenom itself. Did Lucy even cross the Atlantic? It looks like she posed for a few stills with different wigs and did other things that might easily have been faked back in the U.S. She's never glimpsed in the London-hotspot documentary clips, and

her brief interactions with dancers could have been done on English-looking stateside locations. Just curious...

  • Yes, she did cross the Atlantic for this special. It was filmed entirely on location in and around London. Go to the home page for gkri2 and there's a link to a video called "1960's Lucille Ball CBS Promos" (posted by 12TVcartoon), that includes some clips from this special of Lucy touring around London.

  • agree - it certainly looks like that. If it really was on location (and I'm not doubting that, considering all the ppl who are sure she tend skip across the pond) - none of it took advantage of placing her near anything remotely londonish. This could have been done post-production back in the US or prior to her visit. Just seems odd that she is rarely in it.

  • @lesbiandotpro

In the very beginning she walks into Mary Quant's Bazaar store. If that isn't Swinging London in the 60s then I don't know what is.

  • Samantha Juste, the 1st wife of Monkee Micky Dolenz, is also featured in this video. Loved it, thanks!

  • i love lucy

  • Wow........this is awesome!

  • Loved seeing the DC5 in there.

  • or is it eddie sedwick???

  • Did anyone spot Twiggy in the video! sitting round the table at 1.54 and at 2.12

  • I thought I saw Twiggy too.. I could tell by her boobies... ooops!

  • were the other 3 models also? anyone know?

  • Shows she was hip with those of all ages. Miss you Lucy.

  • Lucy In London, right?

  • Yep.

  • thanks. Post more of Lucy In London please!

  • ha I love it! thank you for posting! I've trying so hard to find this video! Lucy looks really good in this video. She looks hip. It's funny how the style now looks alot like in this video, With the belts and stuff.
