Why is it that the cars always start off small, then inflate as new models are introduced? Think RAV4 & CR-V. I thought Scion was supposed to be an urban-oriented, read: compact, car company. I think these cars look bloated, with the xD taking on a Yaris-like face, eww. No one gets even close to the size and weight of Japanese cars built in the 80s. The xA's curb weight was 2,340 and now the xD's is 2,625. That's a 285lb gain, or 12% increase over the previous model.

The xD is not that much larger than the previous xA. The big difference is the track was increased for better handling. The xD is only 1 inch longer than the xA. This is a good thing so you can still wedge that baby into tight parking spots. 128 HP motor should make that little sucker quick vs. the old 103 HP motor. I may pick one up and pimp it out a bit.

Not much faster, the xA had 22lbs/hp, and the xD is 20lbs/hp. More engine, yes, but also more weight to lug around...

I agree. I didn't really like the xA when I drove it. I used to own a Toyota ECHO which had the same engine and more horsepower (108 HP). I like the pictures I see of the xD. I hope I can afford a Scion (hopefully the tC next year.)
