The last time I got to see him before he passed on , my great aunt had just passed away , even though sad ness was in the air Gilford still made everyone feel the love in their home . I myself live in east tennessee & the times we did get to see him were good times .

I got some family up in Virginia. Back in the fifties, someone ratted them out. A posse of thirty Virginia Nat'l Gaurdsmen and US Marshals went after them. And were never found. The kicker: my kin had only civil war relics vs the military weapons of the day! They're still Moonshining, and haven't been bothered since.

It is more difficult to sneak up on an animal than a man. I'm not saying I'd do it, just that the weapons used and numbers of men didn't matter as much as you might think.
