Its on the BIS forums Check it out, got this island Peleliu, Tarawa -Betio, Guadacanal. Good game if you like Simulator/ Realistic games. Got all kind of units, Air,Naval, Army.
From what my grandfather told me about the pacific theather and ww2 in general. Not even real footage from the time does justice what utter carnage and destruction they saw. Its not all glamorous and coordinated and not ever person gets shot 3 times in the chest and dies cleanly...When they talk abut shredded bodies and shit you can't even imagine and neither can I. Men were getting shot in the face and blown and lived just enough to roll around screaming for minutes on end
Pacific reenactments here in the middle to northern states look all wrong because it isn't tropical. Not to mention having Caucasians representing the Japanese... it is just wrong.
Who is reenacting the Japanese? Or are they just shooting at nothing? I would Iove to see Jap forces mow em all down, us Americans are way to cocky for our own good. Just saying.
@citizensnips83 I did notice one Japanese soldier but i think there would be less of them because WW2 Japanese gear is most likely much harder to find...but ya it would be really cool to see lots of Japanese soldiers and American ones fight it out =D
the men that fought in WW2 are the hero's because of them we live in peace. they gave their lives for us not everybody knows that and not everybody respects that !
So respects the veterans of al country's that fought in ww2
and all other wars remember they fight for the country and we are part of that country
Yes. they are firing blanks that have no bullet on the end. So same noise, loudness and sight. They use blanks for force on force training in the military and also for movies and TV shows.
OMG A PACIFIC REENACTMENT?!?! whats dat? wheres the Easy Company and Waffen SS? I thought those were the only two units in WWII?But really thats cool I never have seen a PTO reenactment, those really are rare.
@88pie88 reenacting history is not a game its about showing respect to those who DIED and ARE LIVING in america and everywhere else if you died you woud wont some body to show respect instead of just forgetting what you fought for right?
you know, not to be rude, but unless you are 80+ and were there, youcant sya if it;s true or not. All i can say is I dont really why waste money on this?
It isnt wasting money. If you dont like it then dont. I am a ww2 reenactor and i can tell you that i reenact so i can understand what they had to carry into battle, what tactics were used. There is so much you can learn in a book.
there is a lot you can learn in a book, but what i was saying is you dont know how the war really was like unless you were there. it pisses me off to ee people saying "oh i know what it was like!" because they dont, and i still think it's a waste of money.
ya i gotta agree this is hardly anything what its like. The lil dude with the m2 behind the tank he wuda been a crispy critter in seconds and those guys setting up the machine guns lazily, would have been lit up.
Look im sorry if you took it the wrong way, its pretty realistic it just needs more really loud explosions and a few cries of pain. and I accept your apologie about saying i know nothing about WWII I really do.
Look, I'm in this re-enactment, and although I understand where you're coming from, we're already pushing safety guidelines by using a live flamethrower. Some things we just can't do without unduly risking injury. This was on the old field though. The new one is a bit better set up for that kind of stuff.

In Stuttgart alone, troops under Eisenhower's command raped more women in one week than troops under German command raped in all of France for four entire years. In fact, of all the major belligerents in World War II, the German troops had by far the smallest record of rape and looting. The German army's incidence of rape in all of Germany's occupied territories was even lower than that of American troops stationed on American soil!

no it doesn't. i do civil war reanactments with my friends and stuff and we learn alot, and get to experiance what the soliders felt like back in the day. the adrenline, what htey saw, the only thing we don't experiance that they did is death, and shear pain.
Find me a peace re-enactor then... It's not that war is good or glorious, but rather that war should never be forgotten. This is just our way of remembering, both for ourselves and all of the fallen.
ww2 reenactments are there to teach the public of how those soldiers were in the war and what they had to go through. becasue if you havent noticed... the public knows shit about ww2.
I have been a keen student of military history since I first learned how to read, and the more I understand what war is all about, the more insane it becomes. Why a group of people would want to glorify what is essentially an evil activity really baffles me. The number one aim of a government when training soldiers is to make them accept, in one guise or another (pride, duty, manhood, patriotism etc) that they are expendible. What a soldier fights and dies for, will eventually become redundant.
I don't know whether to rebuke you or praise you, but there is truth to what you say. Maybe the idea of recreating the battles you read about doesn't appeal to you, but to the rest of us it does. I have been intrigued by warfare and the military my whole life; I'm not old enough to go to war nor do I ever wish to, but I do want to reenact it because it serves as an educational experience for many, as well as chance to honor the men who fought in a way that I can enjoy doing.
I was in this particular reenactment, and I can say that the Japanese soldiers in this instance were played by caucasian men who are interested in portraying the Japanese point of view.
The February, 2005 60th anniversary reenactment of the battle of Iwo Jima was just incredible. The Nimitz museum and staff and the whole city of Fredericksburg combined to make it an unforgettable experience for the thousands who showed up. The japanese reenactors are a very dedicated and sincere bunch of guys, very generous with their participation.... GREAT STUFF! THANKS!
Thats cool but there were not that many Japanese. Also it was kind of to quiet and layed back. All the men were to calm and relaxed for being in the middle of a "battle". They should have had people running around, commandars yelling orders and more choas it would have made it more realistic. I do Civil War re-enatments so maybe its different I don't know. I've never done WWII re-enactments.
well show battles are sometimes different than the tactical ones. no idea why but in the tactical when you dont have the pucblic watching it seems very more realistic and scary (sort of)
im a german reenactor and i ran across a field once to take out a mg nest and hearing that thing go off makes it really freaky and more real.
The battle re-enactment is preceded by several demonstrations and lessons. The Japanese, their history, and their fighting tactics/weapons are discussed during this part of the show. The discussion is executed with great tact and attention to detail. They choose not to show American soldiers killing Japanese soldiers.
Omigod! You guys have a flamethrower...way cool. I've always wanted to know what WWII re-enacters did since I discovered youtube for Civil War. I remember when WWII was less than 15 years over and there was still debris on Omaha Beach. Now it's been over 50 years--I'm glad people are keeping the memories alive. My father was a fighter pilot, and most kids my age talked about what our Dads did in "the War." Thanks
Yes, it was weird. It was a very damp, dreary overcast day. I remember thinking that it was probably like that on D-Day. There was almost a presence there like some people say about places like Gettysburg. There were pillboxes above the beach and large anchors on the beach. We lived in France and Germany a total of 3 years, and there were still bombed out buildings everywhere. I got used to it quickly, but looking back it seeems surreal.
I'd rather be I'm the reanactment than watch it

ww2 reenactments are there to teach the public of how those soldiers were in the war and what they had to go through. becasue if you havent noticed... the public knows shit about ww2.

Who played the Japanese soldiers? Japanese exchange students?

I've never done WWII re-enactments.

well show battles are sometimes different than the tactical ones. no idea why but in the tactical when you dont have the pucblic watching it seems very more realistic and scary (sort of)
im a german reenactor and i ran across a field once to take out a mg nest and hearing that thing go off makes it really freaky and more real.

where are the japanese?

My father was a fighter pilot, and most kids my age talked about what our Dads did in "the War." Thanks

you've actually been to omaha beach shortly after WWII? wow, must have been weird....
SWAT518 4 years ago
Yes, it was weird. It was a very damp, dreary overcast day. I remember thinking that it was probably like that on D-Day. There was almost a presence there like some people say about places like Gettysburg. There were pillboxes above the beach and large anchors on the beach. We lived in France and Germany a total of 3 years, and there were still bombed out buildings everywhere. I got used to it quickly, but looking back it seeems surreal.
