I actually prefer this version! Sure, it's a bit rough, but the heavy drums, the guitar sound, the keys, and of course, the exclusion of the "eat a chez nous" lyric (I guess it was added later)... it's just something about it!
@starionpatrol Beautiful isn't it! Trevor's is such an amazing songwriter. I love all of his amazing artistry, his exquisite singing, musicianship..but expecially,..what an otherworldly writer!
I'm so glad the 'eat a chez nous' line was dropped, probably the worst Yes lyric EVER. I cringe everytime I hear it. I love the keyboard solo in this but felt the Yes version had more bollocks. I also agree that had it not been for Rabin, Yes would never have made another album after Drama and almost certainly would have been relegated to the nostalgia circuit by now.
Sorry to all you die hard Yes fans who didn't like the band with Mr. Rabin....I say to you, if it wasn't for him, YES wouldn't have ever made the Top 40. Sorry, Charlie.
@kpachodap2008 He is originally from South Africa, now he lives in the US. He was the guitarist in the band Yes for 14 years. Now he makes movie soundtracks.
Until I heard this, I was a little skeptical of 90125 and Big Generator...now I see Trevor's talent and contribution to these Yes albums, and at the same time, Yes' transformation of great songs to brilliant songs...
@WaxLonghorn If you think this is wonderful, listen to Trevor's live, solo version of "Love Will Find A Way" from his 2003 album, "Live In L.A." taken from his 1989 Los Angeles, USA show at The Roxy to promote his 1989 tour promoting his 4th solo album, "Can't Look Away". "Live In L.A." is also on the Youtube website for PilotCessna208 Just gorgeous! :D
This has always been one of my favorite songs by Trevor..and Yes..and this version is stunning..so new and full of joy and light, like everything Trevor writes..
@NMNHTV13 Oh, come on! That lyric is obviously about how people in love will want to try new restaurants and...eat at them, and...OK, fine, it makes as much sense as bunnies and chocolate at Easter. The song is better without the lyric.
I've always LOVED this song on the YES album but always gagged on the lyrics "I eat at chez nous" which was obviously the contribution of the dogmatic Jon Anderson. As much as I love Anderson and his role in Yes, it's no wonder that he and Rabin were clashing over 90125 and Big Generator. Can't have 2 alpha males running the show.
Anyways, Trevor is amazing and all the songs I've heard so far on 90124 are fantastic. Well done!
Actually the alum name had nothing to do with 90124. They couldn't come to a final name for the album before it's release date. 90125 is tha actual catalog number of this album on Atco records
One of my favorite songs by Trevor...Yes so benefitted from his gorgeous, meaningful, sweepingly beautiful talents, vocals, songwriting, musicianship and guitar wizardry...he literally brought that band back from the dead to pheonix life from the time he came on board until he left.
It sounds like these are demos or embellishments of demos. Trevor is amazing!
Just goes to show what collaboration can yield. Although most was conceived by Mr. Rabin, the arrangements that ended up on 90210 were stellar. I think it was a combination of songwriter, players and producer.

lo que me queda claro es que "90125" y "big generator" se armaron con estas canciones como base

I always thought it was a reference to a 'b' grade movie..."lonely hearts 90125' with Dougles Fairbanks Jnr and Rosalind Russell.
Hence also Owner of a lonely heart...
