my baby is 16 mos old and mostly weened but im having a hard time with the middle of the night waking im so tired i dont want to get up and baby her until she gos to sleep im being lazy lol
I dont see why every body thinks public breast feeding is bad i mean fuck its a boob almost everyone has boobs man boobs or lady boobs christ people you need to grow up
did you have trouble concieving while still nursing? As soon as hubby gets back from deployment we start trying for #2. I had to use fertility treatments to get pregnant with my daughter (who just turned one). We had to try for 5 years and several angel babies b4 we were blessed with her. Anyway, I still nurse her and am planning on self weaning, and was just curious if you had any trouble with the whole process.
@Angie416Wells The first few months are by far the worst! I had to tell my self that THIS is the ONLY option & honestly believing that helped...It didn't seem so hard all of a sudden, still exhausting, but knowing that it was really our only option just changed my entire thought process.
I just stumbled across this video it's soothing to hear when moms decide to breastfeed longer than 6mo. My son is now 6yrs old but I weaned him just a day before he turned 2, they eventually let it go. Now he just loves milk!
Perhaps he cries like that because he fell asleep to feeding, so waking up and suddenly not having your breast makes him upset. Have he ever fallen asleep without breast feeding or had to soothe himself to sleep after feeding? Is he still like this now? (see this is an older video) I see this is an older video so I hope you haven't already answered all of these questions in a newer one!
@guraqt658 We've always soothed our children, as we see no need in such a young age being forced to self soothe, it just doesn't seem right to us, as we're their parents & that's our job. He has fallen asleep w/ out me, when his Daddy snuggles him (co-sleeping) to sleep.
@xxxjoelpolexxx I like the non self soothing I dislike it so much when parents say oh let them cry it out my brother calls it spoiling them it bothers me a lot plus the baby he/she needs to know your there from them when they cry and that they can count on you
ı am proud of you for nursıng your baby. whats up wıth negatıve comments about nursıng your baby or your toddler ın Amerıca_? amerıcans are weırd ın that sense. there ıs mılk there for a reason -ıts so logıcal why cant people see that? whether you nurse for 6 months or 2 years stıll nursıng ıs healthy for your baby and the mother. and ıt ıs not sexual for those who thınk that way-very awkward thınkıng.
@gunesgun Americans see breast as sexual objects for their lovers pleasure, not the means to feed their offspring b/c most Americans are too ignorant to believe that's why God created breast on our bodies. However billboards, ads, commercials, lingerie, etc sex sales, and it's always breast. On another note my son is now 19 months, I'm 3 months pregnant, & he's still nursing.
@xxxjoelpolexxx - congrats on your 3rd pregnancy, wow thats amazıng. ı have a son who ıs 10 months old. not sure when ı wıll try for 2nd baby. but you are goıng to have 3 .(or more later) brave! awesome though. my sıster has three kıds too. she had them before she turned 30. ı had my fırst baby at 31. :)normally ın Turkey, moms stop nursıng when they get pregnant, not sure what the reason behınd that. but that's how ıt ıs here. most moms nurse untıl age 1.5-2. ı lıke your vıdeos.
@gunesgun Thank You! A lot of Mom's don't nurse past 6 months here, so to see an extended nursed baby or a pregnant nursing Mom is pretty uncommon, & even more so a tandem nursing Mom.
I know this video is a bit old but I wanted to comment and ask anyway. I am still nursing my son who is 17 months old. He does the EXACT same thing! He has to have the boob asap in the morning and there are times through the day where he will be competently fine with my husband but as soon as he sees me it's a fuss fest. I don't see us weaning anytime soon but am wondering when did this stop for your son?
I'm all for those who choose to breastfeed but up to a certain point it should stop.. After 6 months doesn't your body stop producing cholestrum or somethin along those lines.. I'm 38 weeks with my first baby and can't even bring it to be an option for me.. I think the whole breastfeeding process it's wierd.. JUST my opinion.. I wanna breast pump and feed thru bottle.. It just seems like a sexual thing to me. Just MY opinión
@bcortez21 ınterestıng. how ıs ıt sexual? ı dont get ıt. for me ıt ısnt sexual at all, ıt ıs feedıng your baby. mothers mılk ıs better and healtıer for the baby than cows mılk. ı dont see any sexualıty here. how weırd.
I'm all for ppl who want to breastfeed but I think after 6 months it may be a little wierd to me.. I'm 38 weeks pregnant and have no desire to breastfeed.. In my opinion the whole thing is gross.. I want to breast pump and feed threw a bottle.. I just feel like it's a sexual thing.. I don't look down on anyone who wishes to do it.. It's just my opinion
absolutely love this! My nephew is 12 months and still breast feeding, with the plans to self wean as well, however while his mom is at work we are having serious problems with him taking bottles/eating while she is gone, do you ever have these problems? She is a NICU nurse, and I am a nurse as well, but we cannot seem to find a way to get the kid to take a bottle regularly!
@houseblew I'm blessed I don't have to leave my son, but he refuses bottles as well, always has. Try a sippy cup, or a straw cup. Foods like avocados.
I'm glad I found your YouTube channel, it is very encouraging to me, my son is 15 months and still nursing strong, my goals are the same, at least 2 years and let him self wean. I also love your ASL videos, they are super helpful to me.
Lucy, I think its GREAT!! People have completely distorted the idea of breastfeeding! I'm pretty sure that's what God gave them to us for! Your doing something for your son that no one else could ever do, only a mother! I think its amazing & congratulate you for the videos & for standing your ground! :)
I am breastfeeding my daughter who is 8 months and i plan on doing so until at least 12 months. i will continue for longer if she wants to but i won't be as bothered if she won't take it or about expressing if shes not with me. I think that breastfeeding until about 2 years old is totally natural and a fantastic thing to do. i'm not sure i would agree with it afterwards. i don't think it's disgusting as such but i think in these social times it's fairer to limit the breast as they get older.
ok the videos realted to this video about 4 year olds breastfeeding and such. All the comments have nasty remarks bc guess what? It is not right And no no child needs to self wean off a breast. Your a parent there comes a time and place where you need to tell them what's right and breastfeeding your son until he self weans (which could be five or eight or even four) is gross. Personally my stepbrother was breastfed till five and he remembers sucking his mothers breast, to me verge of molestation
@xxxjoelpolexxx My kids are now grown. But when they were each two years old they had already stopped breastfeeding. They were eating solids on their own. They wanted the bottle instead of the breast. But mostly they ate lots of solids.I asked them why they stopped breastfeeding on me and they said it was getting boring.I have two biological children and one adopted from China. My son is now a bank loan officer,my other daughter is a nurse and my adopted daughter is a practicing attorney.
hopefully your child isn't old enough to actually say clearly. Mommy can I suck on your breast, I'm thirsty. Ew. Absolutely creeps me out and is on the verge of molestation
@mandjandc The verge of molestation? Seriously? Someone has issues....I'm so sorry you think that way. Perhaps a little education can fix it? As I said to ur last comment it's NATURAL to nurse a child till they self wean it' not natural to make ur child stop & that typical age where they stop is 2-4 yrs, there is a reason for that, not b/c they are or the parent is sick & twisted.
I'm sorry but this grosses me out. I do believe in breastfreeding and I am so happy that women breastfeed there children. At the same time it comes to a point where it is unaccebtable for a 1 year old to be sucking on breasts. Breastmilk is still wonderful but how about put it in a sippy cup.
@mandjandc Some people don't have pumps, I didn't till yesterday. It's natural to nurse your child from the tap, most average age across the world when a child weans is 2-4 yrs old.
@mandjandc unacceptable at a year... they are still babies at a year old!! i swear some poeple want babies to grow up too quickly!! my 8 month old has been using a beaker since 4 months old as she wouldnt take to a bottle and i always breastfeed discreetly, i can't believe you think that something as natural as breastfeeding an older baby grosses you out! now a much older child i would understand but a 1 year old is still a baby!!
Im so happy for you and Kacen!!! I wanted to get to at least 18 months and just before 13 months she weaned herself!!! Im just thankful for the time we did have though. Just wanted to say Way to go!
Thats awesome to see you still bf your son. I am currently bf my 22 month old and his 3 month old little brother. My boys are both boob obsessed, like you I plan on letting him self wean.
My milk did seem to change while I was pregnant andsome days my son would go off it but most days he was haapy as. The last few weeks he was on me constantly, he loved the colostrum!
OMG THANK YOU SOOOO MUCH for doing this video. Im glad to see that my son is not the only little boy that does that. My son is 19 months old and i also wanted him to self-wean I just hope its before he's 3.. Thanks again..
Congratulations on nursing this long. Yeah my son self weaned at 10.5 months when I had reached 6 weeks pregnant, my boobs went completely flat (thought supposed to do opposite when preg), absolutely flat flat and my milk must have just either disappeared or not tasted good.
Sometimes I'm ashamed to say but i was breastfed until I was 4 years old. I was the baby of 4 so I think that had something to do with it, my mother knew I was the last. But I was a healthy baby that's for sure!
@55fairman Not that I can remember, so if so it didn't bother me, lol. If someone would to do that later I'd just tell them that all the children organizations suggest breastfeeding for a MINIMUM of 2 years & he's only 17 months. Breastfeeding is natural & I'm not exposed. If they'd like any information I'd be iwlling to chat, otherwise please leave us alone.
@rebeccaperez3 Nursing her was a nightmare!!! She stopped at 5 months most of that was due to frustration of nipple confusion & not wanting to work for the milk (let-down) where as w/ a bottle she got it right away. I continued to pump for her but she stopped going to the breast at 5 months. That's why I was so against giving my son bottles in the beginning.
@xxxjoelpolexxx cont: Needless to say, nursing a 2nd baby after her, well the experience could only go UP from there, lol We both failed pretty miserably. Nursing Kacen has been such a success I'm praying the 3rd will be too.
@xxxjoelpolexxx Your daughter is just like my son. We stopped nursing around 3 or 4mos and pumped instead, which was a pain. Kacen is so sweet in your arms. I want to keep mine a baby forever. He's 16 months and uses a sippy cup during the day, but insists on a bottle in the morning and at night, but it gives me a chance to hold and cuddle him.
@taylormn How do I still have milk? It's supply by demand, so b/c he demands it, it's still there. Nursing a minimum of 2 years is the "suggested time frame" so you should have milk for 2 years so long as your demanding it.
Because of your m/c risks do you worry about nursing if you fall pregnant. Also I hate being away from my kids too. I sometimes crave some "me" time but then it comes down to it and Im like 'Nah Ill just stay at home" When my twins are at kinda Im always the first mum there waiting to get them. Ill die a little bit next year when they are at school. Sighs.... It goes so fast.
@elesha76 I do worry a little, but b/c I've already gone through it once & he's not 6 months old like Jacelyn was, where it was new & newly postpartum, I don't think it will be a risk at all....at least I'm praying it won't. It's been 17 months, 2 babies worth so I'm hoping all is well. My only real concern is making sure I don't go into labor earlier than 37 weeks. But I hear that rarely happens.
Hey Lucy is there and reason not to breastfeed and be pregnant? I think I read some where that there is an increased risk of miscarrage? I could be totally wrong about that though. If you get pregnant and then are still breastfeeding, when you have the new baby will you still get colostrum? Or will your supply increase when the new bay arrives?! I'm so confused?!
@TheMissJess13 Some women are at an increased risk of miscarriage due to various reasons. If you're prone to miscarriages that can put you at a higher risk of miscarriage if you're nursing, especially if it's a pregnancy directly after having a baby (either 6 months & under or 12 months & under, don't remember which?). Like 95% of women don't fall into that category though :) Your body will make new colostrum :) The supply will also increase.
I nursed Kaia until 21 months(she weaned herself). She was the longest. I think she only quit because I was pregnant with Kadynne and at that point, she was only nusring like 3 times a day. I think my supply had dwindled so much that she just didn't feel like it anymore, lol.
I think it is so great that you make these videos! And congrats on nursing him for 17 months, that is awesome :) Grace and I made it 15 months before she self weaned.
Its funny how different my 2 are about nursing. Grace was all about eating as fast as possible and being done, even from a very yong age she never really comfort nursed. Liam on the other hand wound hang around the boob all day if I let him! He nurses all.the.time and just loves to be near his food source :) I love it.
@Carly0826 Do you feel like you might as well live in a nudist colony or at the very least just throw away all your shirts b/c ur boobs are hanging out, catching a little drift 24/7? lol Lord knows I did!
I have to say I'm jealous I was hoping to make it to at least a year and my LO decided she was done at 11 mths. She was turning away and completely refusing the boob. I think a big part of this was bottle feeding, she just didn't want to wait for let-down. I'm so sad that this part of my life is finished :(
@shantrues Sometimes they just have a mind of their own :) Jacelyn wanted NOTHING to do w/ the breast after 5 months, she wanted it in a bottle, hated having to wait for the let down. I tried & tried & tried....she wasn't having it. Just like you, I think teh issue was bottle feeding w/ Jacelyn b/c it was instant milk w/ a bottle. That's why I was so hesitant to give Kacen bottles during hte early months but b/c of that he wouldn't take one PERIOD EVER either.
@xxxjoelpolexxx Liam at this point will not take a bottle either, we haven't tried that hard but when we did give him one he freaked out! It is not so bad now since I am never away from him but I might regret it in a few months if I want to get away for longer than a few hours! Grace took one right away and had no trouble going between breast and bottle from the start.
@Carly0826 It's a hard change if you're not use to it....but unlike a lot of Moms I just absolutely HATE leaving my children even if it's just w/ their father for 5 minutes I get like separation attacks and freak out. Emotional meltdown! lol So I used the fact Kacen didn't take bottles as a crutch to not HAVE to go anywhere w/ out him. lol Friends would ask if I wanted to have a girls night, or whatever & I did, I really wanted to, but I just couldn't stomach leaving him even at 11 months.
@Carly0826 Isn't it rewarding though??? That they refuse the bottle? It's almost like them saying WTH IS THAT FAKE CRUD? Give me the real goods...that nothing else no matter how close it's made to mimic the real deal it just can't come close enough as the real deal for them to take it. It's like saying cognrats youre awesome, youre doing such a good job all I want is you. At least that's what I had to tell my self when I needed to get through the day, hahaha
@xxxjoelpolexxx Absolutely! When he was crying and having a hard time with the bottle I couldn't take it. I made Bill give him to me so I could nurse and comfort him. It just wasn't worth watching him struggle and cry through the feeding when I could just nurse him. And he was SO happy and calm once I took him ♥ Had it been easy like it was with Grace than that is one thing but I can't stand to watch him struggle with it knowing I could comfort him easily.
@xxxjoelpolexxx That's gotta be frustrating too. I think that mom's should definitely be advised and take it serious that bottle feeding may impact the length of breastfeeding. In my case, both babies stopped earlier due to the ease of bottle feeding vs. breastfeeding (meaning the letdown). Just baby preference
Good to see you're still going. I am too with my son who is just turned 16 months, and co-sleeping also. He goes through phases where he wants night feeds, just sits up, half asleep and calls out 'Bub!', gets very upset if he doesn't find bub within maybe 10 seconds. I don't have a weaning plan either, hoping he'll just move on when he is ready, which doesn't look soon at all!
@mebirdo Awwww that is too cute!!! "BUB!!!!!!!!!" I can so picture that, as mine is just as impatient, although he yells eat and grabs my boobs like he's honking them :(
ever since i read that both the american academy of pediatrics and world health organization recommend nursing for a minimum of 2yrs i plan to do just that when liam is born.since you have been so successful with it i will definitely be seeking your advice :)
@kaylalee2 Lol She just was NOT having us do these videos, lol which is okay that's to be expected w/ a toddler, she loves the attention on HER at ALL times.
I am also still breastfeeding my 18 month old. I was trying to wean her at one point when she turned one but just gave up because she alsways had fits and I hated seeing her like that. Now I notice she is bf less and less so I think she will self ween. BTW we also Co Sleep with her.
@Neicy2 Yep it seems like the older they get it, they want it less although I see a lot go through spurts here n there (usually teething) where they take it more frequently but then go back to their 'normal routine'.
@stinamarie122702 U know....ur probably right & that never crossed my mind! He hasn't had many growth spurts so I always forget about those...My daughter had them like CRAZY, he is long over due for one so you're probably right!!!
You booby milk is just so tasty he just gotta have it first thing in the morning! Heck I am thirsty as hell first thing in the morning! He knows what he wants =) My daughter very rarely wakes up for milk...but I have heard her call out in her sleep 'want milk' (also heard her chattering in her sleep too - I have a sleep talker, just like me!), so once of twice have given her a slumber feed. That is great you are still breast feeding, it is an amazing acheivement! My best friend did it for 16m =)
@ecmomma Yes, I would actually prefer tandem nursing over having ot pump, freeze, take up freezer space, then donate it which I don't mind doing it's just tandem nursing is easier.
as I did to our first son (I hope that makes sense). If I kept breastfeeding, I'd feel that I'm taking something away from our second baby during pregnancy.
Our son wakes up every morning screaming for breast milk too; and shortly after starts signing EAT to me. He's S T A R V E D! I'm the type of person who just quickly gives him the breast and that's it :-) even though my bladder is about to explode while he's at my breast :) He's 13 months now and only a few days ago I weaned him off his evening feeds so now we only have morning feeds. We're going to be TTC in a few months and I really feel that I want to give our second baby the same ''goods''
@marymyselfandme I wish I could do that, give it to him right away, but I get sooooooooooooooooooooooooooo many UTI's & bladder infections that I just can't afford to hold it. I swear the first time I hold my pee, that's it, I have an infection :( It sucks :( My MW had told me to go pee before every nurse session, empty the bladder & I wouldn't get so many, well ever since I started that I haven't had a single infection! In 17 months! I cant' believe it :)
wow i didnt know people breastfeed over a year. Not knocking anyones belief when it comes to their parenting their child but It would seem akward to still breastfeed a 3 or 4 year old child. This is really new to me because i have very seldom seen or know anyone that has breastfeed for such a long period of time. Very interesting vid i must say.
@AjreamcomeTrue It does seem awkward till you actually do it, & it's ur child. When Kacen was a NB, Jace remembered the boob and point blank asked to "eat boobie" as she called & she hadn't nursed since she was 5 months old & at that time she was 15 months & I was sooooooooooooooo weirded out & even grossed out by it, it was just weird...I remember talking to Joel & my friends about it, but it's one thing when the child had been nursing the entire time & its ur child.
@AjreamcomeTrue cont: No I didn't let her nurse. I had been trying to give her breast milk ever since in a cup when she was sick, and she didn't like the way it taste she told me "mommy gross milk, yuk" when she drank it, so I just politely reminded her that she didn't like mommy's milk anymore that she thought it was yuk, but I think she was confused by Kacen nursing & her not. All organizations will tell u to nurse a minimum of 1 yr but preferred a minimum of 2 years.
@AjreamcomeTrue cont AGAIN, lol, b/c breastfeeding in general is so taboo here you rarely see it period, but b/c of that you almost NEVER see public "extended nursing" as most call it which is nursing beyond a year even though every organization says 2 years to breastfeed for. Most Moms just do it at home in privacy b/c of hte looks/stares/whispers they get when their child nurses then unlatches & starts talking/walking...lol
My son is about to turn 11 months on the 1st. I was hoping he would start trying to wean himself like occasionally babies do around this time, but he doesn't want to stop anytime soon. So we'll keep it up as long as he needs to :o) I see you are doing the same thing. Do you think nursing will affect your conceiving? You are ovulating right? My cycles are so irregular. They will be 60+ days & then the next one will be 35 days. I used to be 26 days. I'm trying to NOT get pregnant though.
@mrsmommy81 It's rare that babies will self wean before 12 months b/c it's just not natural in all honesty. Some babies do but it's usually due to various reasons like the mother is pregnant again, or bottle/nipple confusion, etc. Most won't self wean till much later when it's more natural time frame to wean. I don't think it will affect TTC b/c it didn't before....although I Know no 2 pregnancies are alike so who knows..?!? Hope not though! :)
@xxxjoelpolexxx Yea, it really is rare they actually want to wean on their own at 11 months. Honestly I do hope he will wean himself in the next few months, but I won't push him. He LOVES to nurse :o) It makes us so close :o) I hope you conceive too, momma! Baby dust to ya! You are a wonderful, wonderful mother. You are so nurturing & doting of your kids! Keep those videos comin' ;o)
You are very brave, im not exactly up for co sleeping myself because i rolli around whie sleeping and im just to terrified. But you obviously know what your doing . Do you guys still use pacifiers? If there is any advice i can give DO NOT USE THEM TOO LONG my mother let us use them til we were 5 now me and my sister can not stop chewing on things. It was like an exorcism like you said about your little boy. We had to go out and by them all the time. My mom didnt even let my brother have one.
@sassycatdarn890 Neither of mine used pacifiers. we tried w/ our daughter she didn't like them & my son hated them from day 1, preferred me not rubber/silicone for comfort.
My doctor recommended one year so in my mind I totally thought we would wean my daughter, Emily at a year. But now that we are at a year I don't want to force her to stop. I hope she will naturally decide when she is ready to stop. Yesterday she even refused and wanted juice and a sandwich instead at dinner time. I was thinking maybe she was going to stop but there are just times she prefers real food and times she wants milk (from the tap, haha). :D
@ilovehandbags06 Women can nurse when they are pregnant, the majority w/ out problems. Only a tiny percentage of women run into issues that vary in reason. I should be okay this time.
@xxxjoelpole Ah okay it's just that Lora said something and I thought you couldn't breast feed when your pregnant. I must have picked her up wrong. Your cat is beautiful btw.
My son is 16 months and he is not breastfeeding and he does the same thing in the morning. I think it's because they sleep trough the night and wake up so hungry. He even yells if I put something to eat in the microwave he becomes so inpatient. Jace did not do that? It's funny how much our son's have in common.
@adorablestar Kacen hadn't always done that, it's fairly new, and Jacelyn did it when she was younger (much younger than his current age). He eats a late snack around 11, then I nurse him till midnight usually and he wakes at 7 to nurse again.
I have a personal question (you don't have to answer if it is too personal) but how do you manage TTCing for your third while you have one child co-sleeping? Is there a time when he doesn't co-sleep that allows you guys to do that or do you just do it while he is asleep? I am so new to the idea of co-sleeping so I'm just curious :)
@babyvlog Lol :) I had the same question before we started co-sleeping....in all honesty though co-sleeping just makes BDing more fun, b/c u have to find another place to BD that the typical perhaps go to spot of the bed, and sometimes you have to be quick , etc, so it puts a little bit of new excitement back into it, having to sneak away while the kids are occupied for a minute or taking a nap, etc.
I think its awesome your still nursing.. :) 14months and still nursing.. I don't think I can stop or force wean. I tell alot of ppl that ask me when are you going to make him stop.. I always say will you just take away there teddy bear or blanket if they have to have it? No you dont.. So i wont do it to mine.. :)
do you give him cows milk or any other kind of milk at all?? also what are the benefits of nursing after 1 year- i am in almost 8 months now- it will be 8 months on the 4th and were still going strong- she just started sleeping thru the night so that's been great but i haven't quite decided on how long i want to go- past a year or not...
@MrsKLRivers No, he drinks my milk from the tap only & water, that's it. Cows milk is like formula in the aspect that breast is still best, & you aim to only give it when you lack on ur supply (supply is by demand only so every time you supplement you're telling your breast to make less if you don't stimulate via a pump) so regardless of age, 10 months or 17 months breast is still preferred choice of milk for a minimum of 2 years.
my baby is 16 mos old and mostly weened but im having a hard time with the middle of the night waking im so tired i dont want to get up and baby her until she gos to sleep im being lazy lol

I just stumbled across this video it's soothing to hear when moms decide to breastfeed longer than 6mo. My son is now 6yrs old but I weaned him just a day before he turned 2, they eventually let it go. Now he just loves milk!
fall1026 1 year ago
Perhaps he cries like that because he fell asleep to feeding, so waking up and suddenly not having your breast makes him upset. Have he ever fallen asleep without breast feeding or had to soothe himself to sleep after feeding? Is he still like this now? (see this is an older video) I see this is an older video so I hope you haven't already answered all of these questions in a newer one!
guraqt658 1 year ago
@guraqt658 We've always soothed our children, as we see no need in such a young age being forced to self soothe, it just doesn't seem right to us, as we're their parents & that's our job. He has fallen asleep w/ out me, when his Daddy snuggles him (co-sleeping) to sleep.
xxxjoelpolexxx 1 year ago 2
@xxxjoelpolexxx I like the non self soothing I dislike it so much when parents say oh let them cry it out my brother calls it spoiling them it bothers me a lot plus the baby he/she needs to know your there from them when they cry and that they can count on you

@pixxelperfect1 It hasn't stopped....lol He's 18 months now.

Just MY opinión

absolutely love this!

I am breastfeeding my daughter who is 8 months and i plan on doing so until at least 12 months. i will continue for longer if she wants to but i won't be as bothered if she won't take it or about expressing if shes not with me. I think that breastfeeding until about 2 years old is totally natural and a fantastic thing to do. i'm not sure i would agree with it afterwards. i don't think it's disgusting as such but i think in these social times it's fairer to limit the breast as they get older.
madmidwifesteph 1 year ago
ok the videos realted to this video about 4 year olds breastfeeding and such. All the comments have nasty remarks bc guess what? It is not right And no no child needs to self wean off a breast. Your a parent there comes a time and place where you need to tell them what's right and breastfeeding your son until he self weans (which could be five or eight or even four) is gross. Personally my stepbrother was breastfed till five and he remembers sucking his mothers breast, to me verge of molestation
mandjandc 1 year ago
@mandjandc We will agree to disagree then.
xxxjoelpolexxx 1 year ago

Ew. Absolutely creeps me out and is on the verge of molestation
mandjandc 1 year ago
@mandjandc The verge of molestation? Seriously? Someone has issues....I'm so sorry you think that way. Perhaps a little education can fix it? As I said to ur last comment it's NATURAL to nurse a child till they self wean it' not natural to make ur child stop & that typical age where they stop is 2-4 yrs, there is a reason for that, not b/c they are or the parent is sick & twisted.
xxxjoelpolexxx 1 year ago 2
I'm sorry but this grosses me out. I do believe in breastfreeding and I am so happy that women breastfeed there children. At the same time it comes to a point where it is unaccebtable for a 1 year old to be sucking on breasts. Breastmilk is still wonderful but how about put it in a sippy cup.
mandjandc 1 year ago
@mandjandc Some people don't have pumps, I didn't till yesterday. It's natural to nurse your child from the tap, most average age across the world when a child weans is 2-4 yrs old.
xxxjoelpolexxx 1 year ago
@mandjandc unacceptable at a year... they are still babies at a year old!! i swear some poeple want babies to grow up too quickly!! my 8 month old has been using a beaker since 4 months old as she wouldnt take to a bottle and i always breastfeed discreetly, i can't believe you think that something as natural as breastfeeding an older baby grosses you out! now a much older child i would understand but a 1 year old is still a baby!!

@55fairman Not that I can remember, so if so it didn't bother me, lol. If someone would to do that later I'd just tell them that all the children organizations suggest breastfeeding for a MINIMUM of 2 years & he's only 17 months. how did it go with your daughter,,,, when did she wean???
just curious if they follow the same pattern.
baby is growing fast !!!
rebeccaperez3 1 year ago
@rebeccaperez3 Nursing her was a nightmare!!! She stopped at 5 months most of that was due to frustration of nipple confusion & not wanting to work for the milk (let-down) where as w/ a bottle she got it right away. I continued to pump for her but she stopped going to the breast at 5 months. That's why I was so against giving my son bottles in the beginning.
xxxjoelpolexxx 1 year ago
@xxxjoelpolexxx cont: Needless to say, nursing a 2nd baby after her, well the experience could only go UP from there, lol We both failed pretty miserably. Nursing Kacen has been such a success I'm praying the 3rd will be too.
xxxjoelpolexxx 1 year ago
@xxxjoelpolexxx Your daughter is just like my son. We stopped nursing around 3 or 4mos and pumped instead, which was a pain. Kacen is so sweet in your arms. I want to keep mine a baby forever. He's 16 months and uses a sippy cup during the day, but insists on a bottle in the morning and at night, but it gives me a chance to hold and cuddle him.
AllArtAtHeart 1 year ago
how do you keep the milck that long?
taylormn 1 year ago
@taylormn How do I still have milk? It's supply by demand, so b/c he demands it, it's still there. Nursing a minimum of 2 years is the "suggested time frame" so you should have milk for 2 years so long as your demanding it.

Because of your m/c risks do you worry about nursing if you fall pregnant. Also I hate being away from my kids too. I sometimes crave some "me" time but then it comes down to it and Im like 'Nah Ill just stay at home" When my twins are at kinda Im always the first mum there waiting to get them. Ill die a little bit next year when they are at school. Sighs.... It goes so fast.
elesha76 1 year ago
@elesha76 I do worry a little, but b/c I've already gone through it once & he's not 6 months old like Jacelyn was, where it was new & newly postpartum, I don't think it will be a risk at all....at least I'm praying it won't. It's been 17 months, 2 babies worth so I'm hoping all is well. My only real concern is making sure I don't go into labor earlier than 37 weeks. But I hear that rarely happens.
xxxjoelpolexxx 1 year ago
great to see some women still let their kids nurse, and don't make a secret out of it
Icedude1978 1 year ago
Hey Lucy is there and reason not to breastfeed and be pregnant? I think I read some where that there is an increased risk of miscarrage? I could be totally wrong about that though. If you get pregnant and then are still breastfeeding, when you have the new baby will you still get colostrum? Or will your supply increase when the new bay arrives?! I'm so confused?!
TheMissJess13 1 year ago

He nurses all.the.time and just loves to be near his food source :) I love it.

xxxjoelpolexxx 1 year ago
I have to say I'm jealous I was hoping to make it to at least a year and my LO decided she was done at 11 mths. She was turning away and completely refusing the boob. I think a big part of this was bottle feeding, she just didn't want to wait for let-down. I'm so sad that this part of my life is finished :(
Congrats on listening to Kacen's needs
shantrues 1 year ago
@shantrues Sometimes they just have a mind of their own :) Jacelyn wanted NOTHING to do w/ the breast after 5 months, she wanted it in a bottle, hated having to wait for the let down. I tried & tried & tried....she wasn't having it. Just like you, I think teh issue was bottle feeding w/ Jacelyn b/c it was instant milk w/ a bottle. That's why I was so hesitant to give Kacen bottles during hte early months but b/c of that he wouldn't take one PERIOD EVER either.
xxxjoelpolexxx 1 year ago
@xxxjoelpolexxx Liam at this point will not take a bottle either, we haven't tried that hard but when we did give him one he freaked out! It is not so bad now since I am never away from him but I might regret it in a few months if I want to get away for longer than a few hours! Grace took one right away and had no trouble going between breast and bottle from the start.
Carly0826 1 year ago
@Carly0826 It's a hard change if you're not use to it....but unlike a lot of Moms I just absolutely HATE leaving my children even if it's just w/ their father for 5 minutes I get like separation attacks and freak out. Emotional meltdown! lol So I used the fact Kacen didn't take bottles as a crutch to not HAVE to go anywhere w/ out him. lol Friends would ask if I wanted to have a girls night, or whatever & I did, I really wanted to, but I just couldn't stomach leaving him even at 11 months.
xxxjoelpolexxx 1 year ago
@Carly0826 Isn't it rewarding though??? That they refuse the bottle? It's almost like them saying WTH IS THAT FAKE CRUD? Give me the real goods...that nothing else no matter how close it's made to mimic the real deal it just can't come close enough as the real deal for them to take it. It's like saying cognrats youre awesome, youre doing such a good job all I want is you. At least that's what I had to tell my self when I needed to get through the day, hahaha
xxxjoelpolexxx 1 year ago

He goes through phases where he wants night feeds, just sits up, half asleep and calls out 'Bub!', gets very upset if he doesn't find bub within maybe 10 seconds. as I did to our first son (I hope that makes sense). If I kept breastfeeding, I'd feel that I'm taking something away from our second baby during pregnancy.
marymyselfandme 1 year ago
Our son wakes up every morning screaming for breast milk too; and shortly after starts signing EAT to me. He's S T A R V E D! I'm the type of person who just quickly gives him the breast and that's it :-) even though my bladder is about to explode while he's at my breast :) He's 13 months now and only a few days ago I weaned him off his evening feeds so now we only have morning feeds. We're going to be TTC in a few months and I really feel that I want to give our second baby the same ''goods''
marymyselfandme 1 year ago
@marymyselfandme I wish I could do that, give it to him right away, but I get sooooooooooooooooooooooooooo many UTI's & bladder infections that I just can't afford to hold it. I swear the first time I hold my pee, that's it, I have an infection :( It sucks :( My MW had told me to go pee before every nurse session, empty the bladder & I wouldn't get so many, well ever since I started that I haven't had a single infection! In 17 months! I cant' believe it :)
xxxjoelpolexxx 1 year ago
wow i didnt know people breastfeed over a year. Not knocking anyones belief when it comes to their parenting their child but It would seem akward to still breastfeed a 3 or 4 year old child. This is really new to me because i have very seldom seen or know anyone that has breastfeed for such a long period of time. Very interesting vid i must say.
AjreamcomeTrue 1 year ago
@AjreamcomeTrue It does seem awkward till you actually do it, & it's ur child. When Kacen was a NB, Jace remembered the boob and point blank asked to "eat boobie" as she called & she hadn't nursed since she was 5 months old & at that time she was 15 months & I was sooooooooooooooo weirded out & even grossed out by it, it was just weird...I remember talking to Joel & my friends about it, but it's one thing when the child had been nursing the entire time & its ur child.
xxxjoelpolexxx 1 year ago
@AjreamcomeTrue cont: No I didn't let her nurse. I had been trying to give her breast milk ever since in a cup when she was sick, and she didn't like the way it taste she told me "mommy gross milk, yuk" when she drank it, so I just politely reminded her that she didn't like mommy's milk anymore that she thought it was yuk, but I think she was confused by Kacen nursing & her not. All organizations will tell u to nurse a minimum of 1 yr but preferred a minimum of 2 years.
xxxjoelpolexxx 1 year ago
@AjreamcomeTrue cont AGAIN, lol, b/c breastfeeding in general is so taboo here you rarely see it period, but b/c of that you almost NEVER see public "extended nursing" as most call it which is nursing beyond a year even though every organization says 2 years to breastfeed for. Most Moms just do it at home in privacy b/c of hte looks/stares/whispers they get when their child nurses then unlatches & starts talking/walking...lol
xxxjoelpolexxx 1 year ago
My son is about to turn 11 months on the 1st. I was hoping he would start trying to wean himself like occasionally babies do around this time, but he doesn't want to stop anytime soon. So we'll keep it up as long as he needs to :o) I see you are doing the same thing. Do you think nursing will affect your conceiving? You are ovulating right? My cycles are so irregular. They will be 60+ days & then the next one will be 35 days. I used to be 26 days. I'm trying to NOT get pregnant though.
mrsmommy81 1 year ago
@mrsmommy81 It's rare that babies will self wean before 12 months b/c it's just not natural in all honesty. Some babies do but it's usually due to various reasons like the mother is pregnant again, or bottle/nipple confusion, etc. Most won't self wean till much later when it's more natural time frame to wean. I don't think it will affect TTC b/c it didn't before....although I Know no 2 pregnancies are alike so who knows..?!? Hope not though! :)
xxxjoelpolexxx 1 year ago
@xxxjoelpolexxx Yea, it really is rare they actually want to wean on their own at 11 months. Honestly I do hope he will wean himself in the next few months, but I won't push him. He LOVES to nurse :o) It makes us so close :o) I hope you conceive too, momma! Baby dust to ya! You are a wonderful, wonderful mother. You are so nurturing & doting of your kids! Keep those videos comin' ;o)

@babyvlog Night time isn't the ONLY time a couple can BD (Baby Dance) nor is the bed the only place you can make a baby ;)

@xxxjoelpolexxx my daughter was conceived on the futon in the living room... we haven't done the deed in our bed for a good year and a half!

do you give him cows milk or any other kind of milk at all?? also what are the benefits of nursing after 1 year- i am in almost 8 months now- it will be 8 months on the 4th and were still going strong- she just started sleeping thru the night so that's been great but i haven't quite decided on how long i want to go- past a year or not...
MrsKLRivers 1 year ago
@MrsKLRivers No, he drinks my milk from the tap only & water, that's it. Cows milk is like formula in the aspect that breast is still best, & you aim to only give it when you lack on ur supply (supply is by demand only so every time you supplement you're telling your breast to make less if you don't stimulate via a pump) so regardless of age, 10 months or 17 months breast is still preferred choice of milk for a minimum of 2 years.
