  • its dry because it just hatched or it was taking sun bath

  • I have a 3 year old red earred slider which i raised when she was a hatchling, and this spring i just caught 4 baby red earrs and 2 painted turtles, to catch hatchlings just wait till may~june and search along the banks of creeks, rake up the scum and muck and search thru it, you will find baby turtles, try different creeks and little coves off of lakes, you dont need to see the turtle to catch it, they have ultimate camo, try this and youll get one ^^b

  • that minnow is only about an inch long, my guy is pretty small too. hes gone though. i gave him to my friend who has a bigger tank. but right after i gave it to him i got a bigger tank too (just a 10 gallon in vid) but i didnt think i should ask for it back cuz i did give it to him you know

  • i have a a slider and a painted turtle but there getting too big for my 38 gallon tank. where exactly do you search for hatchlings? im in iowa by the way.

  • @tjtrystan You should only purchase from a reliable dealer, and not take from the wild. You could also try putting a wanted poster on local bulletin boards, in case someone has a turtle they want to part with.

  • i have a baby painted turtle as big as a quarter

  • why do people comment if they dont know what they are talking about. Wild turtles dont really have salmonella, they aquire it in captivity, probably due to a lack of something in the environment.

  • i agree brother man

  • He looks exactly like my Eastern Painted Turtle hatchling! So cute!

  • Hey Umm. I have a painted turtle and i was wondering DID YOU WASH YOUR HANDS?????!!!!!!!! they are FULL of Saminilla Poisaning

  • Umm...turtles in the wild don't have salmonella.

  • how about the one you keep as pets

  • Yes, turtles not in the wild often have salmonella. If you are keeping one as a pet it's a different situation.

  • commen sense my the wild ones heve even more sicknesse

  • I don't know if pond turtles carry a lot of diseases or not, but anyone who doesn't wash their hands regularly is asking for trouble anyway, so yes - it is common sense.

  • ok sorry if i caused any problems but il loved your vid 5 stars!

  • Glad you enjoyed it, thankyou!

  • thanks

  • that looks just like my baby painted turtle

  • Aww!

  • you did a good thing letting it go but sometimes when there that small you want to keep them for a couple weeks and teach them how to eat and then safely let them go. you did a good thing

    peace

  • hehe. nice. i just found a couple the other day :)

  • can i have one

  • y not keep him?

  • Well, we did raise two baby painteds which had been hatched in captivity, so it was a case of BTDT. And, it's a wild animal - we just gave it a helping hand off the road.

  • how and where did u find it?

  • We were just walking on a dirt road near our cottage - the road runs between two lakes - and Iain almost stepped on it before he saw it. It was very dry, I think he'd started out across the road and it was farther to water than he thought!

  • You ever watch these guys swim? They live in the water.

  • LOL, I used to catch painted turtles like they were going out of style when I was a kid. I'd keep them for the summer, and release them back to the pond before fall. They were always a lot of fun, thanks for the upload =)

  • You're welcome, glad you enjoyed it.
