@pacbiggiecom He gave no land to abraham rather to his descendants. This land was most of modern day israel, with some of lebanon, and western jordan.
@123jsass According to Pan Am with (help from military pilots) at sea level the curvature of the earth limits the range of vision for humans to 2.9 miles. If the story in the Bible is true Abraham could only see 2.9 miles in all directions.
@pacbiggiecom Again, i doubt you can only see three miles. However, how does that make a difference? What land did abraham need to see that was 3 miles away?
@123jsass This is what makes it relevant - Genesis 13 - 14: The Lord said to Abram after Lot had parted from him, “Lift up your eyes from where you are and look north and south, east and west. 15: All the land that you see I will give to you and your offspring forever.
If the story in the Bible is true Abraham could only see 2.9 miles in all directions.
@pacbiggiecom a. that means that he can see a total of 5.8 miles of a total seeing length.
b. most of israel is on high mountain planes so that means he could see far more than just 2.9 miles in any given direction
c. Nowhere does it say "only the land in which you can see." You know the phrase "as far as the eye can see"? That doesn't literally mean that there is ____ only up until the point you can see. Rather it is just saying that there is a lot of it (in this case, inherited land).

@123jsass This can't be correct, humans can only see 2.9 miles at sea level.

@pacbiggiecom a. That isn't true.
B. Huh? What does humans having finite visibility have to do with the promised land?
