  • i went to pre adsc 2 weeks ago and we did no pull ups/ push ups/ sit ups has any one recently been on adsc is there a pull up / pull up / sit up test i have no problem doing them just want to know what to expect my recruiter is unsure about this as it has all changed over the last few months.

  • When i asked the Army chat online i asked if there was any requirments for pre selection in ripon and they answear no. But surely thy must have a requirement just confused. and my selection is in april if anyone knows please comment, Thank you Shannon

  • Where is the Army Development and Selection Centre theese days, I have heard that it's at Glencourse barracks near Edinburgh or is it somewhere else now?

  • @AlanHuttonNo1 theirs two one at pirbright and one at glencourse.

  • can someone tell me how many press ups and sit ups you need to be able to do to pass selection

  • @LiquidReason yeah 8-10 is completely cool, and as long as you can run a mile and a half in under 10.30 you will be cool. I went as an artillery gunner in the RA. i would do the course, it will seriously help with the way army runs. If you need anything else ask me i will help as much as possible.

  • @LiquidReason I managed 16 heaves. Most people did between 8 and 10. The 40kg max lift was from the floor to shoulder height placing it on a ledge. I dont know how many jobs are left in the RA i know theres not many spaces left and we are in phase one already. Hope you have a good experience mate.

  • @MrGarrett1911 No heaves at selection anymore

  • @AIDSisntFUNNY no heaves at selection nope, but pre ADSC there were heaves for me. obviously i dont attend every single selection in the country but i hope that everyone else gets there fair shot, i was trying to help anyone who did not have a clue.

  • fuuck got my selection tomorrow!! nervous!!

  • that girl did 50kg clean and jerk?

  • . They dont do these physical tests anymore, usually its the jerry can run 5x20 meters, heaves/pull ups, and lifting up to 40kg onto a box at around five feet. Then the 1.5 mile run

  • @MrGarrett1911 mate ca u tel me what is specificaly done at e selection process now adays??

  • i go there 21st of febuary WOOHOOOO

  • @TheMechaCookie It depends on how shy you actually are. It's a hard one to judge, as the army will tell you, the people you are training with and ultimately will work and get deployed with are the people you will spend 24/7 with... Eat, sleep, wash, piss and shit with. It's a very "in your face" prospect but one things for sure, if you are shy now, the army will kick that straight out of you! Sorry to be so blunt!

  • At which point do you choose which regiment/corps you want to join?

  • @fecto3210 you choose them self when you go to your army careers center they will ask you what your 3 chosen choices are after you will do a BARB test to see what score you get and this will be for your 1st choice so for example if your going RLC you need a score of 44 or if its infantry you need to get above 28 because they grade you on it aswell so if you scrape through the next thing you need to be good at for whatever job it is, is your fitness has to be booming run circles around everyone

  • @starzscream614 Thanks for the reply. My first choice is infantry but I am quite a clever guy and are likely to score way higher than 28. Will they try to push me into something else? All I want to do is infantry.

  • @starzscream614 @fecto3210 I got a 74 on my BARB test, and an overall grade B. Hopefully going to be a gunner in the Royal Artillery. Advice, run a lot.

  • my god they actually have new recruits. I find this disturbing.

  • @210482fmj Im joining soon, whats disturbing?

  • @Rawc90 GOing into a warzone and getting seriously injured. ALso this war has caused great suffering to the local people and you will become connected with that. THe recruiters are satans training jesus to get executed

  • @210482fmj lmao

  • @210482fmj Well you are clearly insane, opinion disregarded.

  • @fecto3210 Trust me the the recruiters are satans lapdog

  • does anyone know what time you finish and come home and do you stay for 2 nights or is it just the 1

  • @SuperSpook2011

not 100% sure but you go there some time in the morning or afternoon then you stay there for the rest of the day sleep there and spend say another half day or something there but like i said not 100% sure

  • 10-how long will you take to do the run?

11-what is your most memorable moments?

  • at ADSC the ice-breaker question-

1- full name and age. briefly tell us about your family and your home town.

2- how do your family and friends feel about you joining the army

3- what do you do in your spare time?

5-what do you know about your chosen jobs and why have you chosen them?

6-what do you expect basic training to be like?

7-what do you want to arieve in your army career?

8-what qualities do you have to offer to the army?

9-what have you done to prepare for adsc

  • this is pirbright, warning to all the PSSR has changed now tis just lifting weight bag from 25 to 40 kg sort of exercise at 7 minute

  • been there :)

  • Which selection centre is this?

  • Question: Once you get recruited as infantry, how exactly does it work? Are you on the job the whole year round and get holidays like other normal jobs (weekends, Christmas) or is it like a few months posted somewhere and a few months off back in the UK?

Would appreciate if someone with experience responded.

  • well my brother is in the infantry and i am joining, he did all his training was deployed for 6 months but now he comes home every weekend and does get fair amount of holidays worth he is is off from today till some time January hope this helps a little

  • @josharmyinfantry

So on duty for 6 months and then hees back in the UK but still has to report for duty while getting weekends off?

  • @jonnyjumpsalot when you go to your battalion you get weekends of unless you have pt on the saturday then you finish around 12.30 but if somthing big is happning you won't get the weekwnd off so if your based close to home you can go home for the weekend

  • @callumdcommunist

What if you are not close to home, where would you go over the weekends?

And apart from weekends, do you get summers/winter holidays with pay?

  • @jonnyjumpsalot yes you do get get summers and winters holiday with pay your holidays usually follow the english school holidays most guys don't go home at weekends and just go out on the piss

  • @callumdcommunist

One more question to you sir, during my contract in the army (as in infantryman), how long in a normal year can i expect to be overseas and how long in England?

Also, while i am in the UK, is a room reserved for me the whole year (even during holidays). Meaning if i do not have anywhere else to go, may i choose to stay at army housing?

  • @jonnyjumpsalot No, Although I'm not in the army I hope to join however 'hees back' is definatly not what you will be doing. Training, Training and more training. Be prepared for hard work.

  • @Halgo12345678910

    Alright, cheers mate. :)

  • @jonnyjumpsalot No problem, I always had the question. What Regiment or Corps do you want to join?

  • @jonnyjumpsalot

yes every 18 months his battalion goes on tour for 6 months when he isn't away he does training he does different courses and he comes home every weekend if he isn't doing a course or isn't on excersise

  • @josharmyinfantry

And that is the usual time line for most? 18 months home, 6 months middle east?

  • @jonnyjumpsalot

yes every 18 months his battalion goes on tour for 6 months when he isn't away he does training he does different courses and he comes home every weekend if he isn't doing a course or isn't on excersise

but because he lives relatively close he can do that.

  • @jonnyjumpsalot

what do you mean? at phase one phase two or when you join your battalion?

  • After reviewing this footage I believe that I now have a clearer understanding of what to expect and what I'd expected of me when I do attend the 2 day selection process. Thank you for the support by uploading this video because it has assisted me in my learning thank you :)

  • HELP! is the urine test for drugs? I smoked about 2 and a half 8ths of weed a month before my selection. Don't give me crap about i shouldnt of i was told it was gonna be later...anyway yeah...please answer..

  • @aurorax1210 Yah, it is for drugs mate

  • anyone got selection on 8th?

  • @shazzerboy10 Glencourse? See you there mate :P

  • Ere you've failed mate, look in the mirror , we don't do blacks.

  • what do did they have to do in the last part of the gym gun run was it? what u gotta do on that

  • only thing im bricking is the eye sight test :P

  • @jackydefo you can wear glasses for most trades tho mate?

  • @tumbleboys yeh but i dont know if my eye sight is good enough for being in the infantry

  • @jackydefo have you done ur medical with the doc? you'll also have a form to take to the opticians, they'll write on the form ur results. I suppose if ur eyesight isnt good enough they'll tell you in ur interview before selection ?

  • I'm not being funny but when you look at the amount of serious injuries we are starting to see on the news from being in the military i don't think its a wise choice signing up. I advise people to look at some of the injuries on the news and the think about the throught of signing up for afghanistan.

  • @210482fmj Each Is Their Own Choice, So Your Words Are Falling On Deaf Ears, Pointless Coming On This Vid And Posting Comments Like That

  • @1dealsin its still a good idea to raise awareness though and there is nowhere else to really do that other than on military videos on youtube.

  • @210482fmj Are You Undermining People In Saying That They Are Not Aware?

  • @1dealsin yes and plenty of people are not aware. THere certainly seems to be plenty of people who are not aware whats going on in the world

  • @1dealsin I'm not saying everybody of course. But young people are too young to really know whats going on in the world nad many young people see the military as a good way forward yet are too young to understand about getting injured

  • @210482fmj u do know what kind of videos new recruits are shown during week 1 right??

  • @210482fmj Well, if you are going a combat arms then you do have a point but we aren't going to be in afghanistan for much longer (2015). Also there is no grantee that you will be posted to afghanistan anyway. Having said all that if you are not prepared to be shot at or potentially blown up of killed then why join the combat arms in the first place? join the combat support arms or combat services if you still want a life in the army with a higher risk of injury or death

  • after waiting 2 years got my phase 1 start date 2day 26 march 2012 pirbright here i come =]

  • @hardhouseroolz wow thats a long time... engineers?

  • @1dealsin no m8 signals sparky =]

  • If anyone has any questions just inbox

  • MrJonnyboyification thanks so much for making my day, iv been laughing hard for the last hour at your comment 'the ice breaker puts me off joining' loooooooooool i think you shouldnt join then mate at all pmsl the ice breaker is the least of your worries

  • 'finds it difficult to express his opinions' is what it said on my school reports years ago and not alots changed

  • the ice breaker is the part that puts me off joining

  • @MrJonnyboyification You shouldn't be worrying about anything buddy. The ice breaker is a minimum of 3-5 minutes of talking about yourself. All you need to tell, is your name, age, where you live, your background, hobbies, what your family think of you joining the army, what you think to expect. And make sure you write down on a piece of paper what you have. Points preferably. Just follow that, that'l be well into 4 or 5 minutes, all the best!

  • do you really have to do a maths test to join paras or infantry?

  • @AtomicCheese92 no, i just joined infantry and i didn't have to do a maths test, but i think its different if you're joining as an officer.

  • @RlcFilmAnimation Only People Going Engineers Or Army Air Core ect Need To Take The Maths Test.

  • whats the pass time for the run ? male

  • @sSsHiPFiR3sSs Depends what you're joining for. Aim for at least 11 minutes but it's 9:40 for the paras.

  • selection on the 10th of October. Anyone else?

  • went to pirbright selection centre on Tuesday (21-22nd) passed with an A grade.

  • I live in merseyside, so wheres the nearest selection centre? I can't run for shit....also why cant any of the girls wear makeup?

  • Because your going to try and join the best army in the world,

There a few thing's you cant do before you go, And you best get running to the army carress centre lol

  • @BrokkyLad What the fuck would girls be doin wearing makeup

  • Went there yesterday, defered for having a stomach bug...fair enough, but worst fucking timw to get one. Any questions just ask.

  • @aurorax1210 Got a couple of questions about the jerry can test because I'm a bit worried lol. Did you find it easy? & How many people in your group failed to complete it?

  • @CoffeeBeatsTea mostly everyone passes it, theres mostly always one person who drops it though haha

  • @CoffeeBeatsTea its only 20 kg mate lol its nothing youl be fine, its easy and if you do weights then its a walk in the park ;)

  • @sSsHiPFiR3sSs Did it on pre selection, it was surprisingly easy. Got my selection soon

  • whats the eye test like??.. i know the army website has the required standard but i dont know the excact standard my eyes are but my left eye is rubbish really bad eyesight... so is the eye test generally easy or do you need very good eyesight

  • I'm going this monday 22nd aug...any advice mainly the run, ice braker...just anything

  • i passed ADSC but i have to go back in a couple days for an eye test, i have a lazy right eye so i have to wear glasses to get my sight up to the required standard, i was just wondering is the eye chart at 03:33 the same all the time so i could memorise it ?

  • oh that jamaican guy at 5:02 looks well good haha sorry for the placid racism.. but he looks/sounds so cool 8) haha

  • im planning to join next year i didn't realise how hard it was :L

  • @N4KxRecordings 160kg, fuck me lol. How much do you weigh? I weigh about 55kg and i only deadlift 90kg for reps.

  • Does anyone know where is the nearest selection centre from Merseyside is?

and also im not the most confident of people so how many is the icebreaker infront of roughly?:') and does it affect your overall result?.. thanksss:)

  • LMAO "my weak points are I don't like being told what to do.." and she's trying to join the army? I cant wait to go! Really looking forward to it

  • going 26th july parachute regiment

  • going aug 10th fusiliers

  • i passed this on tuesday going household cavalry.

  • @haloiskwl Can you join the household cavalry if you where glasses as that is what I want to join, also well done on getting though.

  • Its easier to join the U.S military and it is guaranteed you will see combat and endure some sort of physical are mental injury.

  • @DIJV79 you do know our training is 26 weeks for infantry right? whilest in the US army it is only 12 weeks, we learn so much more and go through a lot more pain mentally and phisically, but obviously you will still think that the US army is better for some unknown reason.

  • WOW! you get to use a calculator, this would never happen in the U.S Army. You test and your physical ability is determined before you even join.

  • @DIJV79 these havn't joined, they're in the selection process so quiet it down with all the americas so great shit

  • anyone got tips for the 1.5 mile run

  • @VICEKING6 Have a bath the night before and relax for the day before you go. Get plenty of water down you, you will do better than you think. They build you up to it in those two days. And there will be other people running. So you will feel a little competitive about it. I did a big ass hill run twice a week combined with an endurance run. I did that for a month and it took a minute from my run time. I got 10.16. How long until you go?

  • @EnragedGoat i got 4 weeks so i think in that time i can cut my time down to there time or even more, thanks

  • If anybody wants to know anything just message me!

I passed ADSC with a high A, so should be able to help!

  • @idealHopper that maths test mate... whats it like? can u use a calc on any question?

and did u do it at lichfield?

  • @idealHopper the TST is just basic maths, you only do it if your going into a trade, i'm going infantry so i didnt have to do it, but from what i've heard its pretty easy, takes about 20 minutes and you do get a calculator.

& nope i went to pirbright, same place as in this video

  • @idealHopper is the machine at 6:52 basically like a deadlift?

  • @CoffeeBeatsTea It bassicly is yeah, you don't get as much of a wide grip though

  • is the jerry can test a pass or fail test?

  • @CoffeeBeatsTea pretty much yes

  • So would this be the Army's version of the Royal Marines, PRMC?

  • iv got selection on 14th july... crnt fuckin wait for it... anyone else goin?

  • Wear a suit don't listen to anyone on this, if you perform equally as good as another candidate and they wear a suit and you wear your newest McKenzie tracksuit who will they pick? DO NOT LIE ALSO

  • Anyone on ADSC Belfast tommorow?

  • glencorse on wednesday 29th this month anyone ?

  • any1 going to edinburgh on th4e 4th & 5th of july

  • any1 going to edinburgh on th4e 4th & 5th of july

  • anyone got selection 14th july?

  • Is anyone going in to the PARA's should have selection next tuesday?

  • He said turning up in "tracksuit and scruffy jeans" makes their motives questionable, what should you wear?

  • @CallioBajallio a suit or just black trousers not jeans black shoes smart and just a plain white button shirt

  • @starzscream614 No, this video is old, there is no time to change from suit trouser, shirt tie etc before medicals, travel in sports wear.

  • @collieoVTEC There Is.. I just wore mine underneath

  • @1dealsin where did you do your selection?

  • @collieoVTEC Pirbright... Where This Video Was Filmed.. About 7 Years Ago lol

  • @1dealsin aah, i did mine at Glencorse, maybe different to your southerners ;)

  • @collieoVTEC

al use southerners use pirbright. theres onli 4 in the u.k.

  • @CallioBajallio don't listen to that boy, travel in track bottoms and a jumper to ease with the medicals, cos your getting 2 mins to put your bags in the room and go to medicals, no time to change and fold suit up and get into sports wear. you'll get your info through the post before you go to adsc telling you this.

  • done mine got my job and waiting for basic in august

  • is this pre-selection ?

  • @khug1990 When u doing it? I am tommorow :D at swanton morley

  • @DoomDigital i did mine today at york, queen elizabeth barracks :)

  • @khug1990 Awesome :p how did you do? I passed mine :) i will probably see you at the ADSC in pribright :D

  • @DoomDigital no idea yet, just waiting on a phone call to say if i have or not but i think i did pretty well :) and sadly not... for me i go to Edinburgh :/

  • Comment removed

  • lol 3:36 wtf is he guna here he is like 100 years old

  • how old are these people because im 16 and im waiting to get the all clear from my medical do i go to a different selection centre for my age?

  • @manchester0united i think they are over 18. i dont know if you go to a different selection centre though.

  • @jackydefo you can wear glasses in the army but i dont know specifics

  • what are the eye sight requirements? i wear glasses :P

  • @jackydefo basic eye test and colour blindness test

  • @1dealsin do you know if the eye sight test would be with or without glasses?

  • @jackydefo

sorry I cant answer that I dont wear em, and funny enough never have asked anyone who has glasses lol

  • I am going into the army as a junior leader to go harrogate for a year, after harrogate i want to join the paras. At selection do i still have to do the 1.5mile run in 9min 18 if im going to the college first ?

  • @The123longlane If your going to college (Junior entry) Your allowed something silly like 14 Mins to do it. So unless you walk you can't fail it!

  • @EnragedGoat So when i go to selection , say i do the run in 10mins will that affect my chances of getting in the paras after harrogate ?

  • @The123longlane You get trained for the Para's in Harrogate. If your going for the Junior Entry your going to Selection to see if you qualify to go to Harrogate. Get it? You will have to pass another test (I believe) Before you finish and go to do your Para's when you finish college.

  • i go to irvine for a few hours for my development. lookin forward to it.

  • @cuthy08 How did it go?

  • @somethingmemorable1 i meant to say practice development but i did well. passed the run and icebreaker but im still going to prepare more for the real selection to well and truly nail it.

  • @cuthy08 Well good luck :) the icebreaker seems like the worst bit :P

  • anyone have any idea what the run time is for the mercian regiment, i know im well under at sub 9 minutes, but i'd like to know what the actual dit is on it.

  • @GHOSTFORTYONE To get an A or B grade, you'd probably need to get under 10 mins.
