俺の爺ちゃんも陸軍主計少尉だったが昭和２０年１１月に奉天で戦­死した。日ソ中立条約を破ったロシアが満州に進出してきたため、­戦後もロシアと戦っていた。しかも遺骨は見つからず、生きている­時に残していた爪と髪の毛数本だけしかなく、当然墓には遺骨は無­い。しかし昔の軍隊さんは精悍でハンサムな青年が多いな。彼らも­まだ２０代前半の若者だったから独身が多かったろう。この良質の­DNAはここで途絶えてしまったわけか。残念でならない。この彼­らの子供がもっと残っていれば現在の日本はもっといい国になって­る気がしてならない。

Then when it was all said and done, we treated the Japanese well, we helped them rebuild and restore their nation and we've stood by their side ever since.
