watch because I may become a monkey mom soon myself! So don't stop now! You are one of the very few owners that provides us with an inside view of liveing with a tiny primate, and solid advice based on real experience. I will be counting on folks like you. I hope anyway! This will be a life time dream realized if everything works out!
Oh WOW! when you do, let me know, there are a couple really cool PRIVATE "Monkey Mom" internet groups that are great to belong to. If I can be of any help at all just ASK!!!!
Look for a primate vet BEFORE you get your monkey!!!! I cannot stress this point strongly enough. You will need a "Well Pet Exam" within the first 48 hours of bringing baby home.
There are a number of breeders out there, I know two great breeders of small monkeys if you need a reference.
Unlike other monkeys, marmosets and tamarins are quite small, and although they may bite hard when they get a temper tantrum, they can be restrained more effectively, without giving them any bodily harm, because of their size.
I didn't get the video lined up very good to capture dressing the neck closure. It's hard to self-video!!! (*LOL*). At least you get the idea how much physical manipulation and patience on the monkey's part is involved and why acclimating them at a VERY young age is important.
I started serious efforts on diapering Tami at 10 weeks of age, and started T'Myrrah at 3 weeks. T'Myrrah, "verbally complains" very little.; Tami, ENTHUSIASTICALLY verbally "complains"
i was wondering where you got its clothes?
