  • Does anyone have chords?

  • I had an opiffiny...

  • What I would expect from "Stalin's Songbird" Capitalism is going to exploit everyone, and surprise the solution is socialism, where the politically powerful hold all the wealth.

  • Excuse if I missed something, but did xygomorphic really just suggest that we are brainwashed by the government to believe that our system of economics and politics, pretty much our whole culture of production, is entirely unsustainable... so that they can gain more power? He must have been being ironic...

It drives me crazy that everybody associates environmentalism (or should I say sanity) with Al Gore. That guys an idiot.

  • @brocklucas

    There's nothing wrong with production...

But the culture of needless mass production designed to accommodate mass consumerism followed by planned obsolescence(waste of resources in it's most absurd) doesn't seem to have good prospects for the future in the world where resources are less and less, day by day...

We DO have enough food for instance to feed the planet; yet some parts of the world are strawing while the other throw several tons of food per household on annual level...

  • When I first heard this song in 3rd grade, it left a huge impression on me.

Thank you for the reminder. We need to act fast.

  • what a crazy man. this is disturbing :)

  • thanks! awesome video!

  • Nice presentation. You could easily add to the 'filling up our minds' verse images of the internet to go with all that bad TV-WoW, video games, face book myspace, youtube, all the crap we waste our time on now. It's just as bad as 'reality' TV in the long run.

  • not necessary, I come on youtube stack on alot of videos and read while I listen. Get to listen to so much music otherwise would miss and still have my book.

  • So what?

Even if global warming isn't actually a man-made phenomenon (I believe it is, but it may not be), corporations are still externalizing the costs of their pollution onto the general population without the public's consent. It's analogous to me dumping the waste produced by my production of plastic bottles onto your farmland.

That said, I agree that Al Gore is a greedy, power-hungry prick.

  • @BlackSabbath84

Umm EXCUSE ME! Al Gore is a person who cares about the environment

  • And you are............anybody? Where did you get your peer reviewed information from? Alex Jones? lol

  • excellent lyrics--gets people thinking.

    thank you

  • The trouble with this is that the Mr. Thompsons of the world have just kept adding to the piles since this song first came out.

  • I don't agree with you. The Earth is able to repair herself that's I beleve right. But that doesn't give us the right to put garbage everywhere. The erth becomes sick and with it all the creatures that live with her. Of Course the earth will get better. But we won't.

  • Thanks for posting this. I've only recently discovered Pete Seeger's music -- I've no idea where my parents were during the 1960s -- but this song is tremendous.

  • I have been looking for this since I first saw it backing a video expose' on Saturday Night Live, in the 70's. Thanks for posting. How sad, people who should know better allowed Bush, Cheney, and their filth to advance the cause of greed on this planet, depleting the things all people must have to survive.

  • I'm inspired! Thank You!

  • this is good!

  • You made a great video for this wonderful song.

  • Kind of an envrio-wacko song, but I have been looking for it since Johnny Cash and Oscar the Grouch did a cover on Seseme Street years ago

  • I saw Pete and Arlo sing this in Chicago in 1972. I've been an environmentalist ever since. It really scared me.

Great photos. Thanks for taking the time.

How do we share this with the world?

    Kingsuji

  • As always mate, great videos. And love the message you are in support of!

    Cheers and beers!

  • Appreciate finding this one. What insight.

  • Ecellent!! Thank you so much for this terrific video. I have always loved this song and never been able to find it. Thanks much

  • Nice One, Mike!! I've never heard Pete sing this song before! I know he would get a big kick out of this video!

  • Only when the last tree has died and the last river has been poisoned and the last fish caught will we realize that we cannot eat money.
