  • this song plays when I feel like a badman.

  • Every winter when I see the fireplace in my house lit, I start singing this song to my fireplace, just because it amuses me

  • This part scared the crap out of me. I never watched the rest of this. Because I didn't understand why he said "hell" so much....

  • I love this movie because it is sooo not for kids :) They probably watch this like, "What the heck is going on?"

  • You know, for kids! :D

  • I choose the fire... o.O'

  • 2:27 west side!!!

  • Dude want her ass bad!!!!

  • I guess it's his first time being horny.

  • The Danish version is pretty good too :D

  • @CosmicLight1000 Actually, the German garrison commander in Paris declared it an open city for the express purpose of sparing it from destruction. (Contrary to Hitler's orders which, incidentally were to burn it to the ground)

  • @Ocelot1694 everyone in the comments below me are describing. I've watched Hellfire dozens of times now (I've gotta make up for all the times I fast forwarded through it!) and I just realized that no one has commented on the fact that.....he has the worst haircut known to man!! I mean just look at it.... o_o

  • So this was one of my all time favorite Disney movies as a wee child. Frollo scared the living daylights out of me and ironically I was also terrified of fire. Nevertheless i still watched this movie almost everyday and would just scream at my mom to fast-forward the VHS tape past the 'scary parts' XD

Needless to say I haven't come to enjoy this scene/song until recently. The music is to die for and I really understand the Disney Frollo for who he really is (not just a scary villain) as every

  • I love the line, "He made the devil so much stronger than the man." Its just so true/

  • The boner that burned down all of Paris

  • Imagine if all guys sang like this when they got a boner over some one

  • This movie terrified me as a child

  • @BeccaBumbleB I know that feel...I saw this in theaters and I clung to my dad when Quasimodo's mother broke her neck on the steps of notre dame...it was horrific to see someone die like that

  • SOMEONE!! Take this man to a strip club! D:

  • I wanna see a version of this where the guard shows up while those red cloak guys are there, and they all look at him at once and he's all "uh...I'll come back".

  • I always thought the cloaked men were claws.. as if the black shadow on their face was the nail, and the red was the finger. I was a dumb kid.

  • @RoxyChoxi

    Cannot unsee. XD

  • Wait a few centuries, the Germans will burn down Paris!

  • this scares the SHIT out of me

  • Why is the Hunchback of Notre Dame the ONLY Disney movie on YouTube which no one bothers to upload in NTSC format, in other words, when it ISN'T pitched higher than normal????????????

  • I've never seen such a reaction to a simple boner... @_@

  • If Alan Rickman would sing this...I'd die from an eargasm

  • @4everinthetwilight Actually Frollo sounds like Snape a bit

  • As a child I never understood this song completely.

Today I kind of feel sorry for him. Religion is all he knows and then comes this.... different woman and now he has.... FEELINGS. *gasp* He doesn't know how to handle it so he assumes it's evil.

  • @sockmonkeydoo Actually, there was quite a mixing of church and state then so he likely was involved in the church as well.

  • awkward moment when you're in the middle of cursing a gypsy and a person walks in...

  • When I was younger, the only thing I thought of when it camer to Frollo wanting Esmerelda: But . . . he's so OLD!! xD

Yes, younger me, forget about the fact he's kinda of evil lol

  • Comment removed

  • @LunaBell08 If i recall correctly, in the novel he was much younger.

  • This song scares the crap out of me...

  • frollo is mazing in a weird way. if the disney villains got together then frollo would lead them. even the other villains would fear how psychotic (i hope i spelled that right) he is.

  • There is so much to this movie that I didn't understand when I was 6

  • @naomijuliette

Aren't you glad we didn't understand it when we were 6?

  • A clergyman wishes to kill a Gypsy woman to keep her from tempting him sexually, because he fears this temptation will lead to his eternal torment in the fires of hell, and he sings a song about it.

    DISNEY!!!!!!

  • @corwinorr LOL I know right most of the time you would expect that kind of thing from dream works but never Disney OH AND HE'S NOT A MEMBER OF THE CLERGY PEOPLE STOP GETTING THAT WRONG HE WAS A JUDGE MINISTER OR POLITICIAN MINISTER DIDN'T MEAN CLERGY BACK IN THOSE DAYS IT MEANT DIPLOMAT POLITICAL DIGNITARY LIKE A GOVERNOR IT WAS ALSO VERY COMMON IN THOSE DAYS THAT PEOPLE WHO WERE IN CONTROL OF GOVERNMENT AND LAW WERE VERY PIUS RELIGIOUS AND WELL CORRUPT

  • @sockmonkeydoo AS WELL AS SADISTICALLY SEXUALLY REPRESSED TO THE POINT OF INSANE RAGE THAT WAS OFTEN EXPRESSED IN ACCUSING THE PERSON WHO WAS THE OBJECT OF YOUR LUST OF SOMETHING LIKE WITCH CRAFT SO THAT THEY COULD BE BRUTALLY MURDER IN SOME OF THE MOST VIOLENT WAYS POSSIBLE SO THAT YOU WOULD NOT LUST AFTER THEM ANYMORE BECAUSE OTHER WISE NOT ONLY WOULD YOU "GO TO HELL YOU COULD LOSE YOUR JOB AND POSITION FOR BEING WELL SINFUL YOU COULD ALSO BEEN SHUNNED PUBLICLY EVEN EXECUTED"

  • @sockmonkeydoo DON'T YOU JUST LOVE THE DARK AGES

  • @sockmonkeydoo I LIKE HOW BOTH OF OUR CAPS LOCKS ARE NOT FUNCTIONING PROPERLY... jesus

  • Comment removed

  • "Be mine or you will burn."

    Happy Valentine's Day everyone!

  • calm your self frollo its called a boner

  • Dude, it's just a boner...

  • Comment removed

  • @ImANerdYoureAnAss .... Frollo.......

  • actually not all of them are singing of guys girls too but lesbians

  • every anti gay christain in the world... except instead of a girl it's a guy

  • he says tht hes not evil but he is tht maks no freakin sence so just blames it on some1 else plus hes in love with esmeralda thts y hes cuddling with her scarf "y u so obbsessd with me" by mariah carey haha

  • so it seems like the guy was feeling lust when the girl was dancing at the party, and lust is against one of the comandments, so he wants to destroy that lustful sin, literly.

  • Why is it that Disney villains always get the best songs?

  • Just realized that the guy who plays Frollo is the freaky shrink dude from Beauty and the Beast.

  • @AmieeDawnxoxo Cannot unhear.

  • Now every time I watch this Fluttershy pops up to my mind.

    Thank you Friendship is witchcraft.

  • Why is everyone discussing religion and such? Just enjoy the video and move on with your day...

  • "Of my virtue i am justly proud."

Doesn't he know pride is one of the seven deadly sins?

  • @MapNinja99 He does say "justly"

  • I am pyrophobic because I saw hellfire destroy my tribe. Now whenever somebody shows me a video of a fire, or even lights a campfire or a candle, I freak out!

  • wtf he just wanted to get it in with the girl.... i just liked the sining when I was a lil shit

  • Such a prick tease

  • LIKE IF OLD DISNEY IS BEST PLEASE DO

  • Oh shit, that's a pretty heavy theme for a kids movie to be taking on, I had no idea what this scene was about when I saw it

  • @OswaldtheFourth Hey, they had to do something to balance out Peter Pan.

  • @OswaldtheFourth Neither did I and I am CATHOLIC!

  • That moment when you watch this again as an adult and you realize this dude was just an angsty virgin.

  • @Muppetz540

    My thoughts exactly man haha.

  • i mean Frollo

  • Purer than the weaker crowd. Epic Fail on realizing that your like everybody else. Frollo is creepy and is i dont know how many years older than Esmerelda and he lusts for her.

  • just a little trouble with the fire place

  • i wounder if Disney will make the real Hunchback of Notre Dame. like there doing with snow white. live action and all.

  • This movie teaches all young boys every where that if a chick regects you its ok to set a whole city on fire

  • So.. I loved this when I was a kid.. Never knew what it really meant. Watch it again while I'm now 20.. Main reaction... WTF... This.. Is... A... Childrens... Movie?! O.o But! I still love it! :)

  • @ambilynn19 Try a marathon of Disney movies now. You'll notice a lot of things you missed when you were a kid. Better yet, call your buddies and watch them together to see their reaction to it :P Hehehe...

  • Genuinely creepy. One of the best Disney villains ever.

  • If he's singing about her.... He must like her.

  • Its just a boner Frollo, calm down.

  • @RALAMA2992 yeah take a chill pill and by that i mean a valium.lol

  • I'd.. like...to... boooone... Esmerallda!

  • Seriously, Frolo needs to meet his right hand haha. Amazing song, either way.

  • Could be worse. At least she's a grown woman. That's a step up from the reputation of those sharing his profession.

  • @emojesus21 I laughed the hardest at your comment.

  • @emojesus21

...You do remember that Frollo is a JUDGE, not a priest, right?

  • @nubcakesamurai Actually he was a archdeacon.

  • @MrGamzee in the book. In the movie he's a judge.

  • @emojesus21 He's not a priest...he's a judge. Are judges known for being pedos as well?

  • @emojesus21 I gotta hand it to you, that was out of the ball park.

  • @emojesus21 lol, in the origional story shes only 16 haha

  • @emojesus21 LMAO!!! I'm a Catholic but that made me piss myself! Thumbs up x100! :D

  • @emojesus21 In order for that to be the case he would have to be a priest. He's not a priest he's a judge and a politician who just happens to be a devout Catholic and corrupt which was common during that time period.

  • @emojesus21 frollo is actually a magistate not a priest

  • @emojesus21 he's a judge, not a priest, stupid.

  • @GOTOHELL57331 you sure? i could have sworn he was a man of God. I'm pretty sure he's an Archdeacon.

  • @Stanthekiller123 he was a judge, but was one of those men (in the disney film) that held ultimate power, probably at the same level as the archdeacon, if not more.

  • @Stanthekiller123 no, thats the book; disney altered the plot to get a child audience, besides, the corrupt church that victor hugo mentioned is gone thanks to secular governments

  • @Stanthekiller123 plus, if he was a priest, hed be singing in the cathedral

  • @GOTOHELL57331 but that guy calls him minister? or did they call judges minsiters back then? I'm really bad with religion/ history.

  • @Stanthekiller123 they actually did, ever heard of the term "prime minister"?

  • @GOTOHELL57331 *facepalm* and I lived in England for 12 years.

  • @Stanthekiller123 yeah, the term wasnt used in religion until the reformation, and this film AND the book took place before it

  • @emojesus21 Speaking about Islam right? Prophets married to 7 year olds

  • And this is why Frollo scared the crap out of me as a child. O.O

  • @shamidkpzd; Agreed lol still love the movie :D

  • -Minister Frollo...what...?

    -Ehm...I...

-Don't worry sir, I didn't see you singing alone in front of your fireplace.

    -Oh, well, very well...

  • @fidilio89 LOL Spaceballs!

  • @fidilio89 NO SIR I DIDN'T SEE YOU PLAYING WITH YOUR DOLLS AGAIN

  • Let me pose you a question Ygdrasel, 'Is what is morally good commanded by God because it is morally good, or is it morally good because it is commanded by God?" Socrates- Euthyphro dilemma

  • @Talonsoffreedom

    Neither.

  • The mind and thoughts of God couldn't be written down in book no matter the size, and even if it were, man would never be able to process or conceptualize the understanding of true nothingness, Complex totality, infinity deductiable logic both linerar and non-linear, absolute totality of all that Is, was, and will be; existing at the same time in all ways in all places in every infinite number of universes.

  • @Talonsoffreedom totally agreed i think it was a perfect message giving to imperfect beings, who altered and twisted it to fit their desires

  • As a man of science my particular thoughts lie in modern philosophy and theoretical astrophysics I, have seen many things that I could not explain ...Yet... but ultimately lead me to believe in the existence of a greater consciousness beyond my own, whether that consciousness is God, and entity, or a ambient force is as yet unknown. What we do know is that there are an infinite number of universes and each one is unfathomably vast and infinity complex.

  • Moreover, the bases of religions although considered Pagan by Christendom, and other major religions were inspired by natural phenomenon, (thunder, seasons, astrological events, life, death...) Those Gods of nature are now laughed and scoffed at in modern times, as the bases of ignorance and fear. Man couldn't explain it at the time so it must of derived from God. Many of the so called "miracles of God", have been recreated and even perfected by a logical, rational scientific mind.

  • Dear Ygdrasel,

Perhaps the anger and hatred towards Religion stems from the feeling that a particular book written by the hand of man contains divine answers to the greatest of questions that plagues the human consciousness e.g. Mortality,Ethical and moral superiority. The point is that religion answers these fears with ambiguity and hasten moral and ethical decisiveness that has lead to genocidal violence based on divine empowerment, that makes Hitler and Stalin look like cub scouts.

  • Shakepeare's Angelo in Measure for Measure is SO similar to Frollo. We were reading the scene where he begins to get all horny over Isabella and I just wanted my teacher to play this song.

  • The mere fact that he completely blames her for his own rampaging lust just goes to show how highly he holds himself, as though he's but a a step below his God.

  • @iJenification

If some chick turns you on, do you blame yourself? No you don't.

  • I can imagine the after the gaurd left the others were probably saying "whats going on in there". "Frollo singing to himself and the fireplace again."

  • all cause of a mere boner...man Frollo must have had a shit teenage life

  • @Through011

Well, he is a religious fella. Hormones are sinful. :P

Seriously bummed that Frollo's voice actor died...

  • @Ygdrasel Correction: Hormones are not sinful, unless you act on them and let them control your actions

  • @undclassof80 Right on the money. The hormones are there for a good purpose: for the creation and raising of children, and for the bonding between a husband and wife. This is the proper use of those hormones.

The "Theology of the Body for Beginners" is a good book on the subject of sexuality and the Christian religion, if you've got the time. Pope John Paul II had some amazing insights on our human sexuality.

  • @SorokChyetirye I'm way ahead of you buddy, I've already read those things and treasured them

  • @Ygdrasel So is the archdeacon, and I believe Esmerelda (although she's perhaps not a Christian). Yet they are good people.

Some people - like Frollo - twist good things like religion into monstrous things, and give anyone who supports or cherishes these things a bad name. Some of the worst monsters in the world used God as their excuse for their devilry.

And then there are the Communist leaders like Stalin and Mao, who don't make atheism look terribly rosy, either...

  • @SorokChyetirye

Religion is a monstrous thing by default, revolving around blind faith, exclusionary beliefs, and (as a result of the exclusionary mindset) bigotry. And Communist leaders didn't do what they did using atheism as an excuse.

  • @Ygdrasel Look up St. Francis of Assisi and tell me if you think he was a monster

  • @undclassof80

    Why? He is irrelevant.

  • @Ygdrasel You said religion was a monstrosity. St. Francis was dedicated to living the Gospel of Jesus as literally as he could. He was dedicated to serving the poor, and showing love in everything he did. He was also a pacifist and a vegetarian. Do you think he's a monstrosity?

  • @undclassof80

    Irrelevant.

  • @Ygdrasel I don't understand what you mean by irrelevant, but I assume you are not being judgmental of him

  • @undclassof80

Religion as a whole is a monstrosity. That says nothing of individual people. Much how humanity as a whole is moronic, but Nikola Tesla invented a death ray.

  • @Ygdrasel You cannot deny the social justice work that is done by churches, temples, and synagogues around the world. Religion is not a monstrosity to the poor people in third world countries. One of Jesus' favorite sayings were "How blessed are you who are poor." Religion provides a hope for the poor that otherwise doesn't exist. They're lives are so bad that if you take away their faith, they would die because their lives wouldn't be worth living.

  • @undclassof80

Religion is a monstrosity to everyone. You're talking about charity.

  • @Ygdrasel My apologies to you if religious people have hurt you, scarred you, treat you like shit, or something like that. But honestly, people are like that, whether they're atheists or Catholics, or Moslems or whatever. Whether by faith or by reason, some people will always try to be asinine monsters. Religion is not monstrous. Atheism is not monstrous. Monsters are monstrous.

  • @SorokChyetirye

    Religion is monstrous.

  • @Ygdrasel Nonetheless, without the Roman Catholic Church and the Moslems, you would probably still be cooking your bread over an open fire in a wattle-and-daub hut, tending the fields for your masters. See, these two institutions preserved knowledge in a time when no one else HAD knowledge. Maths, literature, architecture, drama, natural sciences, and philosophy - including pagan philosophy like that of Aristotle and Plato - were all preserved by Moslems and Christians.

  • @Ygdrasel We trust many things on "blind faith" as you put it. Axioms, for example, cannot be explained any more simply than themselves. Yet we willingly believe in them. You and I both believe our scientists are teaching us their genuine discoveries, and aren't exaggerating or lying to us. We put faith into other people when they tell us about their lives. Or do you also sneak around, following them home, and spying on them so you can prove that what they said is true? ;-)

  • @SorokChyetirye

Axioms, by definition, are self-evident. It is not blind faith but the evidence inherent in the axiom itself that fuels belief.

Quit using ridiculous examples of faith as if you're being clever. No fucking shit people have to have faith about what others tell them: We're not omniscient, genius. That in no way excuses the fact that religion's insistence on utter, blind, faith-driven obedience is monstrous and total bullshit.

  • @Ygdrasel But that's just it: you take the axiom as the evidence. It speaks for itself, and you accept what it says. You take it for granted that there is no way to simplify it.

But you do have to have faith to believe that another person's not just lying to you. How do you know someone who SAYS they are a bank teller is really a bank teller and not a Russian spy? Unless you follow them 24/7, you can't be sure.

  • @Ygdrasel On the other hand, belief in a God is fairly logical. Once we understand that all things within the universe have a cause (this is an axiom), we must realise an extra-universal cause must have begun the universe, or else nothing would exist. That is, it must necessarily exist. Because it is necessary, it must also be incapable of destruction, all-powerful, and all-knowing. And to create a free world (like ours), it must also be loving and value freedom.

  • @SorokChyetirye

Belief in a god is not logical. Logic demands solid, confirmable, observable, testable evidence.

Being necessary does not require being incapable of destruction, all-powerful, or all-knowing. Nor does creating the world (hint: It's not a free one, genius. Look at Iran.) require love or valuing freedom.

And don't bother responding to this. The illogical drivel you just spewed is enough to see you have no real clue what logic is.

  • @Ygdrasel

Oh, but it does. See, if a thing can be destroyed, by virtue it can't be necessary because to be necessary, it MUST exist. That is the definition of "necessary existence". Knowledge and power are ways to undermine and destroy things - and to prevent destruction. Therefore, if something were ignorant or powerless against something else, it can possibly be destroyed and is not necessary.

  • @SorokChyetirye

A thing being able to be destroyed and a thing being necessary are not mutually exclusive. Oxygen is necessary for humans to live but it can be and is destroyed daily.

  • @Ygdrasel And the world must be made by a loving, freedom-willing necessary cause. This is a world where we, humans, can choose whether to love or to hate. We can choose to be slaves or to be free. Love must be chosen, or it is not love at all. It's instinct if it we are forced to love. But God allows us to, by our own will, chose to love Him, or to hate Him. Because He wants REAL love, which is freely given.

  • @Ygdrasel One does not need legal freedom to be free. For many centuries, due to the slavery of their forefathers to other gods and their impulses, the Israelites were slaves in Persia. But as some demonstrated, they were certainly still free. They were free from fear of what would happen if they worshipped God. Even the State could not stop them. Freedom isn't doing what can please you, or extend your life. Real freedom is about willingly doing that which you should do.

  • @SorokChyetirye

"Real freedom is about willingly doing that which you should do." - More shit pulled from your ass.

Real freedom is having free, uncoerced choice. Now, I reiterate: Fuck off. Your stupid is starting to hurt.

  • @Ygdrasel If some things are good for men, and some things are bad for them, how can we allow bad to flourish as if it were good, and good to be banned as if it were bad? It is wrong to hate people because they do bad things. But it is right to hate bad things. If you don't hate bad things and show intolerance for them, how can you show that you love good things? If you believe in neither good nor bad, you cannot say whether religion is a monster or not.

  • @SorokChyetirye

I never said a thing about not believing in good or bad. Try to stay relevant.

  • @Ygdrasel I am. I recognise that God, not man, is the creator not only of the universe, but of good and evil. Anyone else's idea of good and evil is merely an opinion. So I ask you: where do you get the idea that religion is evil and atheism is good, if not from God? If this is only your opinion, why should anyone care about your opinion?

  • @SorokChyetirye

Never said atheism was good. And you recognize an opinion you have with absolutely no evidence? Cool. Why should anyone care about YOUR opinion?

  • @Ygdrasel It's not only my own. My opinion (unless they say otherwise) is the opinion of the Catholic Church. I've examined the history, the logic, and the empirical evidence of Christianity. And it makes good sense. My faith is not blind. It is, of course, not certain. But I have good reason, in nature, history, and philosophy, for my beliefs.

If you don't say atheism is good, and you don't say theism is good, what is left?

  • @SorokChyetirye

Logic? None. Evidence? None. Catholicism is shit as much as the rest of religion. And your words are shit.

Existence is not made solely of "atheism" or "theism". There is a ton of stuff left.

  • @Ygdrasel OK. Foul language shows you can't conjure up a decent argument, so I guess I'm done. But ultimately, either there is a God, or there is not. Ultimately, either your actions and thoughts matter, or they don't. There's no room for compromise or apathy. Love and obedience heals; hatred and rebellion harm. The governments of this era have decided to rebel against God and His wisdom; see the fruits of it in the coming decades.

That's it. Goodbye. And God bless and be with you.

  • @Ygdrasel Oh, BTW: blocked (if you didn't do that already).

  • @Ygdrasel I have a question, can you explain to me why you think Religion is monsterous?

  • @Siriuslyloling

    Yes.

  • @SorokChyetirye

And I get my ideas of good and evil from myself. I know using brain cells is a miraculous concept to YOU, but I use them quite a bit and am thus 100% capable of forming my own morals based on my perceptions and evaluations of the world, as opposed to "HURRHURR, INVISIBLE MAN IN SKY TOLD ME SO!"

  • @Ygdrasel Personal discrimination of morality is not a bad thing. Conscience has its place in the life of every man, atheist or Christian. BUT it's not the basis for what you consider good and evil. It's the judge, not the creator, of good and evil. It's good that you use your brain. I wish some of my Protestant friends would do that. But morality is objective. Your brain is not the source of your morals. God is. He reveals what is good not just in Scripture but in the world itself.

  • @SorokChyetirye

Morality is subjective. You believe it isn't because your religion tells you so. But religious beliefs are also subjective.
