I had no idea they reunited. If I had've known, I would have done anything to get a plane ticket to fly to austin to see them. The Judys are so so so good. So ahead of their time. Looks like so much fun there.
i met the lead singer's younger brother today at work and he told me about this band because i told him my name was judy. had never heard of them before, but they're cool! :)
When are they going to be in Houston, or anywhere in Texas? Does he ever perform with the Dishes? I'll pay good money for a copy of the Dishes album he worked on.
Lived in Houston back then. The Judys were a wave band that put on quirky fun shows and in the crowd would be skaters, metal dudes, feathered hair Journey fans, GBH mohawks etc, etc. Fun times.
@jamesandrew2000 Believe it or not a few of us Hip-Hoppers from South Park,K.G.and Denver Harbor jammed The Judy's too, when "Mesopatamia" dropped in '82(my senior year at H.S.H.P. DeBakey H.S.) they opened for the B-52's at the Coliseum no I believe it was Jones Hall (can't quite remember which, it was quite a show&party). A great era in music disco break beats were being morphed into hip-hop and punk was spawning new wave and it crossed over. The Judy's were the truth, straight outta H-town.
Since there's no other current forum to post this: I saw a 1981 bootleg CD with *3* songs that aren't even among the rare ones listed at thejudy's-dot-com! One was "The Food That Fell From Outer Space" but someone beat me to buying it!!! - 1b2s
PS: Order stuff from the band at wastedtalentrecords-dot-com, cuz DB's still too lazy/crazy to keep them in stock at record stores, even here in AUSTIN!!! Your fave Judy's LPs ARE on CD + T-shirts 'n' crap , all directly from the lads themselves!!!!!
i was completely unaware of this show or i would have been there! wow. can't believe this one got by me. i was introduced to their music in late high school (92ish) by a buddy of mine that had the washarama tape. i don't think they weren't doing shows anymore at that point. man, this would have been cool to check out. thanks for posting the video!
Hey, I was essentially responsible for the show, and I still almost missed it! Instead, though, as David Bean led me in a rush to the backstage area, I actually ended up "shining off" a hello wave from Britt Daniel of SPOON! (I'm sure BD understood, though, since he is as aware of DB's godhood as one would expect. - 1b2s
I only saw The Judy's in Dallas. I saw Brave Combo @ Liberty Lunch (I recall purchasing their World Dance Music album there ... I remember a particular female too, but I don't remember her name.)

I'm from Houston and loved The Judy's in high school (early 80s)! I volunteered at SXSW in Austin for many years - how did I miss this show?!? :(

Saw The Judys a couple of times in Dallas at The Hot Club. GREATNESS! Loved those days, and loved this band!

Where I saw the Judy's in Dallas was at that old movie theatre that burned down a few years ago on lower Greenville ave. (the Arcadia) ...
I first heard Guyana Punch ... geez, those cults were/are something to sing about.
